    It's been a HOT minute since we've played Thrawn's Revenge on the channel, but with the new 3.3 version released, now felt as good of a time as ever to jump back in! Is the strategy I outlined in the video the right approach to take? What kind of fleets should we focus on to take FULL advantage of the New Republic arsenal? Leave your thoughts on that and more in the comments below!

      Securing your lines is generally a good option regardless of what mod you play. Plus i think it ups your income slightly via "trade" if that makes sense.

      it will give us the opportunity to increase our connection points and get trade stations on them (since in this mod their value is determined by how many hyper space lanes the planet has)

      To answer that, MC30s and DP20s are still great, just as in AotR. Though in TR you shouldn't forget your repair ships to go with them, as they are much stronger then in AotR!

    Remember to lookout of icons next to planets that indicate they can build something special (or in their descriptions). Bespin can harbor a mining facility and you have a bunch of trade hubs that boost trade ports. You can alos press on the ? button, go to the summary and see what planets have high base income. They also made a new unit roster screen for all factions in that menu.
    You made a mistake on Mon Cala, you replaced the golan III with a golan II. It gave you some credits back for replacing it but made Mon Cala weaker in exchange.
    As the New Republic, you have a whopping 4 stealth units: Luke, Han&Chewie, Lando and Kyle Katarn. This is most stealth units of any faction right now. You should group them to perform raids on weak planets to keep your meager fleet from harm. Sluis Van is a prime target for this. Remember you can still build field bases when doing stealth raids so you can bolster the boys with infantry.
    And finally, take a look at your political tab for choosing the NR's next chief of state. I'd recommend Navik for cheaper stations and ground defenses or Jenssar for faster unit construction.
    You can also retire admirals to bring out other you may find more useful.

    I think just the tier 3 and 4 shipyards objective is fine. Conquering all the planets gets really tedious near the end of the campaign imo

    New Republic is fun, especially in later eras when you get all their fancy ships.
    My favorite of their ships is the Mediator, it's such a cool looking ship.

    Another tip, park Lando on your highest income planet and don't move him unless you get an even better planet. And you REALLY need to get your mines and taxes ASAP, you can get big money in this release if you do. In my current playthrough I'm making like 20k every week!

      Ya just a local infastructure building for the +2 influence and 2 tax agencies on most worlds worth 200 creds or more is pretty solid.

      @@GenesisKing On your bottom left ring around the galaxy map, you can hit the ? icon. This will open a menu with info on some stuff like what buildings build what units. The far right pannel there lists your units and worlds, you can click the items at the top like "planet credit income" to organize it and easily see what are your most valuable worlds.

      @GenesisKing I am about late mid-game. I am playing on a larger map than you so you might not be able to hit the same numbers, but mines should be first priority. They are flat guaranteed income.
      Double tax is good but focus that on your highest base income worlds first. And you have to make sure you have enough influence on the planet. Over tax without enough and the planet can rebel.

    TR is unquestionably my favorite SW game ever. Not just my favorite EAW mod, my favorite Star Wars game PERIOD. It's my favorite SW eras and preferred timeline!
    3.3 has been amazing! It's a stock answer but the new Dark Empire legitimacy mechanics are awesome! It's so much fun to reunite the Empire!
    My favorite NR change that I know of so far - since I haven't played them yet, is the new command staff option for the Jedi. The same idea as they've done in FOTR. But I like the post Endor NJO Jedi so much more than the Clone Wars cast! Corran Horn, Jaina Solo(not in the mod YET but planned) Cilghal and Kyp Durron. Those are the ones I'd use most heavily.
    My advice for you playing the NR is to have 1-2 big chunky Home One types as a tank then use your frigates and cruisers as your damage dealers. You want to get Borsk Feylya ASAP so you can do the Bothan Assault Cruiser Research ASAP as it's a GOD-TIER in its class! (Don't worry, you can get Ackbar back once you replace Feylya later)
    And on that note, change your chief of state a lot. They all have different benefits. It's very worthwhile!
    Also the NR has the best fighters in the game, even more so in later eras, but they are quality, not quantity.
    Also I'm glad you're not using shield penetrating. I know there are some sources that suggest it was a thing, but in most of my favorite SW content, it just didn't work that way. Not in the X-wing books or the Thrawn books. Not in the NJO or the Corellian books. I've always seen that as more of a video game thing.
    For those who point out a couple scenes in the movies, like when the fighters destroy the shield generators on an ISD in ROTJ? Valid. Completely valid point. I just personally always thought of that as they concentrated their fire on that one spot and brought down the shield over that part of the ship - a concept described in many other sources.

      Why would you get Feylya so early? You can't even research bothan cruisers until 9 ABY and you lose out on one of your best heroes. Best to wait until you can research before swapping to him

      oh for sure on the shield pen stuff. I agree that it's a video game thing and as such, needs to make sense in the balance of the game. Which as folks have pointed out is not the case in this mod.

    This campaign will be fun! Wish we were on imperial side to test the newly and reformed World Devastators in dark empire, but oh well. Still will be great to see you face off against a possible eclipse with the Viscount

    Okay so in the early stages NR is weak than most factions. As the game progresses however, you turn into a superpower. Be wary of your planets as well, focus on the ones you can keep and retreat to the ones you don't. Every unit whether space or ground is valuable early on. Your primary DPS units are the MC80a Home Ones, MC80bs, MC80 Liberties, and Dauntless-Class Heavy Cruisers. As the NR, you excel in starfighters so capitalize on your Quasars.
    In the early stages, it's best to annex or liberate the Eriadu Sector and take the Eriadu Authority out. Use Sullust as your main Shipyard and build Bespin up economically. Then move up towards Bothawui, Kashyyk and into the Mon Calamari Sector.
    34:57 = Unlike AOTR, Thrawn's Revenge doesn't share the Major Hero title. Once any heroes get eliminated in Thrawn's Revenge, you lose the permanently.

    Click the cog symbol in your left central scene and turn on Canon units for MORE UNIT AND SYNDULLA AS AN ADMIRAL

    Luke and Kyle are both pretty solid heroes. Kyle is just hard to kill, and Luke can use Stealth to escape to safety if he runs into trouble. Neither are particularly threatened by clusters of infantry, but you still need to keep an eye on them, because vehicles with anti-infantry (speeders, etc.) can be very dangerous.
    I don't blame you for being cautious, but I think you're underestimating his survivability. With good micro especially he is very hard to kill.
    The one nasty surprise you should probably watch out for is you encounter Veers (Eriadu Authority hero), as his AT-AT has a burst ability that can potentially kill a hero if you're reckless/unlucky.

    The Eriadu Authority, Pentastar Allignment are respectively very missle and fighter heavy. They have the same soft counters, rapid fire frigrates. The Eriadu also has the hard counter of missle jamming. The Empire, Zninj and Teradoc need heavy ion cannons in combo with heavy damage dealing. If you pause mid combat you can target multiple hardpoints at once.The Corporate Sector Authority doesnt really have a hard counter as the New Republic. They're the faction most like your own in terms of strengths and weaknesses. The best option is fighter carriers, with heavy ships screening and use your bombers to take out their heavy ships. Hapans arent too hard their ships dont take a lot of punishment except for capital ships and they dont build a lot of them.

    The MC40a, instead of being a whole skyscraper from Mon Cala is just a small block of flats. Or at least that's my headcanon.

    6:00 your replacing a golan 3 with a golan 2 it says that in the top left also if you didnt this episode please enable the starhawk from the cog wheels on the left of the screen

      thanks for catching this! I'm so used to AOTR where you can't build it unless you have a slot available. I should also learn to read those pop ups!

    You can use your command stuff to transfer some space heroes around. I usually fire Ackbar and then rehire him at Mon Calamari. I believe you should have 1 free slot to hire anyone you like right now. You also unlock more space commanders that you can hire as the years go by but only have a limited number of roster spots. It makes up for the hero permadeath.

    5:55 Smoothbrain moment alert! Mon Cala already has a secondary defense station, and you just pressed the button to downgrade it.

    I'd advice you to move your economic heroes around the planets you want to build stuff on. It might help you save some money which you'll need later on.

      Good call! Should also be important for us to move them to our newly conquered worlds to help build up infrastructure more cheaply.

    keep in mind how built up your defenses are at the start of the game. they reduced starting forces and increased infrastructure. you replaced your golan 3/valadusia with a golan 2 on mon cala

    One tip from me: don't attack the Greater Maldrood in the beginning and concentrate on smaller, easier targets like the early Empire (mostly present in the Core so their Outer Rim Worlds should be easy) or Eriadu Authority (can be a pain in the a** too because of their SSDs, but the rest of their forces are easy to kill). The Greater Maldrood has the Altor, a huge vessel designed only for healing and damage absorbing. Paired with ISDs and Tectors they are a nightmare to kill. I can't tell you much about the other factions nearby... Hutts are completely new for me, Hapes are strong as always and Zsinj has his few SSDs like every other faction

    While i do have this mod downloaded and at the ready to play, i can't say iv been tempted to play it for one reason. MY PC WOULD PROBABLY SELF DESTRUCT! Seriously if their is ONE EAW MOD where you want a good Processor and/or Graphics card (or mod EAW to use muti threading), its this mod. The amount of SHIPS and SWARM of strike craft on screen will MELT your poor GPU.

      I think you have to get up to 12 ABY, have Luke still alive and Yavin 4 under your control. Then you can form the jedi praxeum, get new hero jedis and generic jedi units.

      Yea we might need to. I never remember for EAWX mods how big the jump in difficulty actually is between the levels.

      ​@GenesisKing If you like it, you like it. I prefer larger maps because of the constant pushback. It pushes me to play smarter not harder. Also if possible grab capture ships early. It replaces losses.
