The influx of South Korean investments in Vietnam can largely be attributed to the remarkable presence of one company - Samsung. The question arises: What factors do you believe have contributed to Vietnam's triumph in attracting substantial investments from Samsung? Let us know down below!

I am a Korean. Vietnam is a communist country, but it is not right to compare its system with North Korea. North Korea is an extremely closed country and a dynastic country that cannot be called communism. By contrast, Vietnam has a robust economic system and a great leadership. Many communist countries are also building mixed economies that coexist with capitalism, so if they have good talent and social infrastructure, It's not that weird to be invested.

I lived in Hanoi for about 3 years when I was young. It is a very good memory for me now that I am 40 years old. There were many kind people and the food was delicious. When I lived, there were many motorcycles and cyclos, but I heard that there are many cars on the street now. Currently, South Korea is one of the four rare countries that have a comprehensive strategic partnership with Vietnam, alongside Russia, China, and India. The highest level of reception protocol, including the 21-gun salute, when the leaders of your country visit, demonstrates how highly valued this relationship is.
Vietnam and South Korea have had full-fledged cooperative agreements from an early stage, which has facilitated Korean businesses' investments in Vietnam.
During the visit of the South Korean President, the Vietnamese President mentioned the "bond of relatives" between the two countries, with over 200,000 Korean-Vietnamese couples, showcasing the strong cultural exchange and even blood ties between the two nations. Vietnam's national television channel, VTV, used strong and respectful language to describe the relationship between the two countries, highlighting its close-knit nature.
In terms of investment in ASEAN, Japan has established a major business hub in Thailand, while South Korea has chosen Vietnam as its major business hub.
Lastly, Vietnam shares significant similarities with South Korea, as both countries have an East Asian cultural background and a history of national struggle, overcoming hardships, poverty, and division. Korean visitors to Vietnam find many commonalities between present-day Vietnam and Korea in the 1970s and 1980s. Experiencing the "old vibe" of those bygone days is particularly special for Korean businessmen from the 60s and 70s generation. The quality of life for Koreans in Vietnam is also comfortable due to the low cost of living, delicious food, attractive tourist destinations, and the friendly and welcoming nature of the Vietnamese people. As a result, the Korean community is currently the largest expatriate community in Vietnam.

After the liberation of the Republic of Korea, Korea wanted Vietnam, not Japan, to be the number one person in Asia.. A civil war broke out in Vietnam, and South Korea intervened incorrectly. Many people in Korea still misunderstand Vietnam as a subordinate of China. Vietnam and Korea becoming enemies of each other is a comedy-like situation and an act of committing a great crime to their ancestors.

As a young Vietnamese, I am very happy and welcome S.Korean businesses and corporations to invest in our Vietnam. Economic exchange between Vietnam and S.Korea has taken a leap, especially the Korean cultural wave (Hallyu) as blowing a new wind into the Vietnamese entertainment industry. Vietnamese people have received and learned positive influences from S.Korea. I know there is also a section of Vietnamese people who don't like S.Korea, but mainly because of history, many S.Koreans also have positive attitudes and apologize to Vietnam, which makes me very happy! Hope the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and S.Korea will be forever strong and developed! Of course, Vietmam also welcome Japanese businesses to invest in Vietnam, they are also an model for us to learn from. In fact, there is another reason why Vietnam is determined to promote relations with South Korea because of North Korea! Why? Simply because in 1979, North Korea supported China's invasion of Vietnam, which made us very unhappy at that time, so Vietnam also limited relations with North Korea and gave little aid to this country from that time. Out of the 5 current communists countries, Laos and Cuba supported us in 1979, which makes us Vietnamese feel that these are the true friends who always support us. Vietnam has always kept close relations with Laos and Cuba, especially in the training of cadres for Laos and annual aid to Cuba!

@@thongtruong9846 that is also true. Vietnam appears to have favored being on the US dollar reserve currency system. It’s a hard choice between China and the US. If picking the US then they are choosing which country to do business with so that they can get dollars. I can tell you that what the US dollar system brings is brief prosperity until the people have to suffer from high inflation with endless money printing and being debt slaves to the US. That said I still contend that SK and Korea have a lot in common in cultural norms and attitudes.

Because they’re one of the most stable nations in the region and the most economically powerful one (excluding China) not to mention the Vietnamese people having a very admirable work mindset that is similar to how both of my parents worked their backs off during South Korea in the 1970s. They’re also more similar to our North East neighbors instead of South East in terms of culture.
I don’t think comparing Vietnam to North Korea is also fair, that is like saying grapes and apples are similar because they’re both fruits. One is a very open nation with a developing economy that shows major potential in the future, the other is completely closed off and stagnant not to mention very different Communist principles on the ground. I hope Vietnam turns into a powerhouse like what ROK experienced in the late 80s - 90s since I believe ROK needs a close mainland ally, the cooperation of Japan is not guaranteed when they’re claiming Dokdo, denying warcrimes, and changing their own textbooks.

Ok ?

I sometimes wonder if France had not taken more than 100k bright young Vietnamese people as factory workers to French cities during WW 1... . There would not have mushroomed so many talented radical nationalists/Leninists.

Korea has a huge presence in Vietnam, the biggest among Asian nations although Japan is right behind them. It’s a great alliance !

The Vietnamese are honest and hard-working. South Korea is doing the right thing in investing heavily in the Vietnamese productive work force. Vietnamese communism is moderate, unlike the hard core North Korean communism.

A lot of of it probably also has to do with Vietnam being more like east asian countries culturally than SE asian ones.

come to noticed that there so many korean instruction or menu when visit Danang recently. Was curious with the influence of Korea in the cities. Noticed that our hotel was more than 50% korean tourist when we came down for Breakfast. Curiosity causes me to found this UA-cam video

As a Korean worked with Vietnamese and enjoy traveling to Vietnam with my family, I must say this UA-cam video is only half right. Korean people can relate easier to Vietnamese people in terms of cultural and their priorities in beliefs. Forget the political and the history, Koreans work well with Vietnamese because it is easier to talk them even compared to Chinese or Japanese.

Congratulations for both S-shape country Korea and Vietnam, even South Korea get a half of S-shape. Hope both can leverage each strength to make a compound success in cooperation. South Korea get capital, networking while Vietnam have abundant labor costs good at math and IT skills in the world.
LG, Samsung have opened its R&D hub in Vietnam. Need more investment in R&D and hightech industries in the near future.

확실히 중국이 경제적으로 안정되어서 넓은 마음을 갖는것 같다. 어느 댓글에서도 중국인들은 시기 질투 하지 않고 있다
