Gaten was a really good player with roleplaying and interacting with everybody, david was also really good since he helped the plot move foward a lot of the time, finn was the necessary chaotic energy and natalia was the new shy player that opened up at the end and had a lot of fun, overall a really good and entertaining session of DND!

Watching Natalia start out all quiet and confused, then end up engaged and having a good time is great to see. One of the greatest pleasures of playing D&D is watching someone go from "Wtf is this dumb geekfest" to _"OMG Where has this been my entire life"_ :-D

i know everyone here are all stranger things fans, but just saying, Chris did amazing in this. such a great job at interacting with everyone and leading them through dnd and how to play. while also allowing each of them their individual moments for their players to shine. once again, Chris Perkins impresses me as a dm and as a person.

But Finn seems like he always has to be at the front of the party even when a scene doesnt concern his character, like when Gaten thought he saw his sister, and Finn just appears out of nowhere to make a joke.

I give Natalia props for trying something new cause I’d be so awkward playing D&D. That’s why I haven’t tried it out
Most people are awkward playing for the first time. I wasn't much of a talker when I began, but I really wanted to take part so I learned to take more space. Playing really helped me with real life. Now I'm about to lead my friends through adventures in a galaxy far far away in one of the Star Wars role playing games.
If you think it is interresting, find a group and give it a try!

listen to some podcasts! i never played before but listening to other people play helps you understand the rules in a more engaging way!!
Awkward is totally fine in the beginning. There is no definitive way of playing a PnP RPG (doesn't matter if it's DnD or any other system or style).
The most difficult part is probably trying to find the group you feel most comfortable with. Not every DM works for every group and vice versa. Not everybody likes to actually roleplay. Most DMs are NOT Matthew Mercer. Find friends, have fun, talk and if everybody is on board it might go on for a long time. :D

I am not mad in the slightest that I just spent 2 hours of my life watching this, whilst knowing absolutely nothing about D&D. Even though I truly felt like Natalia throughout watching this, I loved every minute of it!! One of the best Christmas presents the fandom could ask for
You should try D&D 5E. You can play online on Discord or Roll20 or get a group together I have been playing for over 3 years and me and my group love it!

“It’s a great game but you’ll need a person who is willing to be a DM (like Chris) and at least 2-3 other players. You could do a solo game with just the DM but your DM needs to be a little experienced to tailor the game for 1-on-1 play.
My suggestion is to get the starter kit, it’s about $10-12 and has everything you need to start including a basic rules book that is a more condensed version of the Players Handbook and pre-made chracter sheets that have all the areas filled up except their name.
