i've only recently discovered the glowforge so I know basically nothing about it. I'm wondering how it knows when to cut vs engrave? Is it just a matter of testing the lasers power output until it cuts to desired depth but not all the way through or something?
Thanks so much for watching! Most times, you're choosing whether to score, cut or engrave based on your projects needs. The Glowforge attempts to determine which elements it should engrave or cut, etc using it's algorithm and for the most part, it's pretty good at it. You can also design your project in such a way that will coax certain methods out of the Glowforge based on colour, outlines, fills, etc. There are several docs available online that speak to what settings are needed for the different materials you'll use. Have fun!
i hate the way the world works xD for fun i made puzzles in my free time with the laser cutter at my work (i cut out the pieces with the laser, and then printed on them with a UV printer). it was really fun but if i wanted to sell that at work, it would have to cost €80+ because the damn things took me almost 2hours to make xD (maybe that time can be lowered with routine, but still.. it's not gonna go much below an hour, because cutting and printing take a fixed time). so no awesome puzzles for our customers :/ (what's especially fun is cutting the puzzles out in non-rectangular shapes, like hearts. one of the puzzles i made was two intersecting hearts. and i made the puzzles pieces with the twirl took in Corel by "hand" xD. normal puzzles, rectangular and round ones, can be generated for free online)
Let me know what methods you use to choose which projects to create and sell! :)
Great talk..thank you for sharing
