Entrance of the Clowns. adapted by David Tobin, Jeff Meegan & Rob Kelly. This is the middle part of Fucik's Entrance of the Gladiators. The part she plays and is thus referring to isn't the whole piece but the circus music the adapted part was arranged for. Thus Entrance of the Clowns.
True. Everyone forgets the name and later remembers it. While some don't know the name but knows the song.

Not kidding. This played while people died under cannons and bayonets. Because of this, it did indeed scare people at one time.

The history regarding that piece is quite funny! So for those who don't know, it's called Entry of the Gladiators. It was composed by Julius Fučík and was originally called Grande Marche Chromatique (before changing it to Entry of the Gladiators because of his interest in the description of the gladiators in the novel Quo Vadis). It was created as a new military march during his time as bandmaster in the Austro-Hungarian Army to show the might of the Austro-Hungarians....the Empire dissolved as the result of its humiliating defeat in WWI and the march is now associated with the circus. The irony is strong with this one. Julius left a piece that has stood the test of time...just not the kind of legacy that he was hoping for. If American politics had a theme, it would definitely be this one.
i wonder how you pronounce Fučík
@@RosieeCoree probably not how you’re thinking…

"Entrance of the Gladiators" aka "Thunder & Blazes March" by Julius Fucik. A really wonderful (and challenging, for an orchestra) piece. I'm not sure why it's so indelibly associated with circuses, unless it's just that they found its complexity made for great ballyhoo in the parade that usually announced a circus' arrival. Sampled in I-can't-count-how-many songs; Three Dog Night's "The Show Must Go On" modified it slightly and used that very well, I think. Edit: Yes, it was rewritten for a smaller band by another composer as a "screamer," a fast circus march, a few years later under a new title.
Edit: YT user The Wicked North's post of "Entrance of the Gladiators" shows just how beautiful and majestic this piece is when not played at the breakneck speed that's common now!
My guess was since it was written for Austria-Hungary's military other nations began to mock it, though if Google is to be believed at the start of the 1900s a Canadian wrote a version for small band which became popular for exciting audiences before a show since it was very upbeat for the time period, hence seeing use in the circus.

It’s called “Entrance of the Gladiators” and gained popularity for its use as a Circus “Screamer”, which it is still widely known for. It was written as a military march but used so much (and ironically) as a tune associated with the circus and clowns that it ultimately lost its original meaning.

"Cheese slices" So true, comrade! Kraft singles were first introduced in 1950. Kraft singles do not qualify for the US FDA Pasteurized Processed Cheese labeling due to the inclusion of milk protein concentrates. They called it that until 2002 when the FDA gave them a warning about it and made them change it to Pasteurized Prepared Cheese Product to avoid FDA sanctions.
Processed cheese was first developed in Switzerland in 1911, when Walter Gerber and Fritz Stettler, seeking a cheese with longer shelf life and influenced by cheese sauces such as those used in fondue, added sodium citrate to melted Emmentaler cheese and found that the emulsified cheese sauce could be re-cooled into a solid again. Shortly after, in 1916, Canadian-American businessman James L. Kraft applied for the first US patent covering a new method of processing cheese, which halted the maturation process.
