The 747-400 is starting to close it's chapters as many airlines are stopping routes, and stopping production on the 747-400. You Will Be Missed, Queen of The Sky!
boeing 787 or even A350 the twinjet aircraft with higher efficiency, low costs to operate them than a plane with 4 engines ....bye bye B747 and A380 goodbye quadrijet era....
I've been very lucky to witness about a dozen landings and takeoffs of KLM 747-400's over the years when I've been vacationing on the island.....it has always been a 'must do' item for me. Standing on the beach, right under the landing path and seeing that huge aircraft on a low approach and roaring right overhead, is just an incredible rush of adrenaline that never gets old for me. I'll be heading back to SXM early next year and will get my first taste of seeing KLM's A330's arriving and departing. Now, the largest aircraft to fly to SXM are Air France's A340's. Yes, they are impressive in their own right, but definitely not to the degree of a Boeing 747.
I had the privilege of seeing the 747 land and takeoff from Saint Maartin. I still have the footage from my phone and it'll be there forever. So glad I got it checked off my bucket list.
Another great icon and bucket list challenge gone....we just lost our Antarctica Qantas 747 sightseeing flights here in Australia.....so many Queens gone ...
Never had the pleasure (yet) of being at SXM, but caught myself getting nostalgic watching this. I love the 747, and the thought of not seeing the "Blue Whale" will be tough. Love live the Queen of the Skies!
This is not the final flight for KLM's 747-400 or others still in service today. It's just for this particular route from Amsterdam. it is no longer economical for KLM to fly the 747-400 for this route. that being said, it will be missed at St. Martin. It was literally one of the biggest attractions there.
Rat Face I initially thought the same thing, but KLM hasn't bought any 747-8i (at least none that I know of). I think there's a blog on Google that says they will be using Airbus 330 or even the 787....
One of the most beautiful and even a little bit sentimental aircraft videos I have ever seen :) - Thank you! Last visit of the 747 KLM in St. Maarten ... :(
I watched this live the other day, wondered what the commotion was for. Poor old jumbo. Brilliant video even the pilots were filming the event. FAb salute with the fountain too. Love it :-)
747 big and so beautiful. Amazing landing and absolutely fantastic take off, incredibly graceful..... It just looked so effortless..... True queen of the skies.
Always loved the amount of force and gravity this aircraft made during takeoffs, the wounderfull feeling of this majestic piece of art. You will be missed ❤️
great video. sad to see the klm 747 for the last time in st.maarten. I went to st.maarten this summer and saw the klm 747. sad to see st. marten 747 service come to an end.
Such an awesome video. I got chills and as a pilot (private only), may have gotten a little choked up. I hope to one day fly into SXM just to say I did.
I was a pilot on Embraer ERJ 135/145 and was a mosquito in comparison to this wonderful B 747-400.. it just has to be the most gracefully heavy aircraft ever built! All heavy long haul aircraft made ever since are for sure having the 747 as the predecessor
This was the one thing I wanted to see in life, a 747 takeoff from St Maarten. Now it will never happen :( Such a sad day for all aviation fans. The 747 is what made this airport what it is. It will never be the same. That being said, it was a great run with the 747. KLM did a smart move using that plane for so many years. A great advertising technique and looks absolutely amazing. Farewell to the 747
I was on a 747 to JKIA not just a couple of weeks ago, the A380's I am still not sure but it in case there is an issue then it would have to be with the gate itself and not the runway.
Civilian plane, yes. But a McDonnell Douglas (now part of Boeing) F-15 Eagle landed with a wing torn off after a mid air collision in Israel. Boeing sent experts to look at it. They couldn't believe it was possible. THAT is a plane.
747 probably one of the most beautiful aircraft ever..gracefull
trustgtr33 yes I consider myself a pretty lucky aircraft i love the klm 747s there are the true queen of the skys and always will be
I had the privilege of seeing up close,
Being clinging to the fence and feeling all this emotion.
747, SXM will miss you.
To me personaly B747 always stays "Queen Of the Sky" despite A380 is bigger and newer.I just love this aircraft, its just so beautiful^^
The 747-400 is starting to close it's chapters as many airlines are stopping routes, and stopping production on the 747-400. You Will Be Missed, Queen of The Sky!
Exactly... Too bad I will probably never have a chance to fly with it anymore.
+pakan357
Lufthansa has 747-8 flights.
The 747-8 is the new queen of the skies, the Queen of the skies title will always belong to the 747 family
Davey Roderick that is true although it's not the same as the 747-400, she was there first
boeing 787 or even A350 the twinjet aircraft with higher efficiency, low costs to operate them than a plane with 4 engines ....bye bye B747 and A380 goodbye quadrijet era....
what a cool pilot to thank all those who came out and wave to them...awesome....greatest plane ever!!!
747 can be phased out but can never be replaced.
Big thanks for sharing the last flight of this iconic 747. Super Like!
i booked a trip to SXM just to be on this last flight in. i got to see it fly out too, amazing :D
was it fun? being on it
ok
OMG! The beach is packed! Awesome catch of the historic final flight!
Very sad day for all aviation fans like me :'( , for me the 747 (KLM) is the symbol of this beautiful island
KLM785, forever in our memories
I'm starting to cry and i promised myself no tears.
Can't believe I never saw it, the WHOLE reason I wanted to go to St. Maarten
You have done a superb job. I could see the person in the cockpit giving a wave. This is why I would love to visit St.. Martin.
What a beauty !!! Seeing the cockpit crew waving, very touching !
That magnificent take off at 8:13, Thank you for this beautiful vid.
Great video, love the flight crew waving and goodbye message in the cockpit!!! End of an era!! 😕
My father was a pilot for KLM on the 747 so i made a lot of flights in this aircraft i rilly miss it
Got up 2am in Australia to watch, brought a tear to my eyes. Like air traffic control said...... will be missed!
Oh majesty, we will miss you. ❤
RIP KLM 747 Into St. Maarten - You Will Be Missed!

Very crowded on Maho Beach, but for a good reason. I've seen the 747 a few times in SXM, and it will certainly be missed in future visits.
Good bye KLM Boeing 747-400 we will miss you
There she blows!
CAT RodRam is this just that 747? Or does Klm not have them anymorr
they stopped flying them to this airport. Now A330's fly here.
+Air Brayden it's just KLM stop using 747s to SXM. They replaced the route with A330s.
I had the privilege of seeing the 747 land and takeoff from Saint Maartin. I still have the footage from my phone and it'll be there forever. So glad I got it checked off my bucket list.
There goes the queen of the skies, you will be missed 747!
2 million business air miles under my seat. 747's were always my favorite ride! I miss them!!!
I was crying when I saw this last take off.
I was too. What is wrong with us? :D
Another great icon and bucket list challenge gone....we just lost our Antarctica Qantas 747 sightseeing flights here in Australia.....so many Queens gone ...

StallionFX1 st maarten, st martin is french
They should just buy a 747-8i dedicated only for this route.
***** Ik, but that's just a fantasy.
J VR Not going to happen?? You do realize that it already has happened in August right?
Rat Face I initially thought the same thing, but KLM hasn't bought any 747-8i (at least none that I know of). I think there's a blog on Google that says they will be using Airbus 330 or even the 787....
quite an emotional day I would assume. I love seeing vidoes of the 747 coming into St Maarten.
a deserving farewell to the sky goddess
Awesome camera work! I watch these types of videos all the time and this is been by far the best
One of the most beautiful and even a little bit sentimental aircraft videos I have ever seen :) - Thank you! Last visit of the 747 KLM in St. Maarten ... :(

747 big and so beautiful. Amazing landing and absolutely fantastic take off, incredibly graceful..... It just looked so effortless..... True queen of the skies.
a jet blast from 747 one last time
Great turnout for the final departure! I was there on Oct 23, 2016 for the final Sunday departure and what a thrill it was getting blasted by a 747!!
When in flight this monster machine becomes as graceful as an eagle.
It was amazing to see KLM 747 and Air France A340 when I was there in June. Glad I made the trip in time.
I couldn't hold my tears! Goodbye Queen of the Sky!
I was lucky to experience 747 of KLM from JFK to Amsterdam.
Wow what an amazing plane ,I'm still coming back to see the most beautiful plane ever made .747
What a magnificent machine.
Good onya KLM. A nice clean, polished, shiny blue 747 for the last flight. Magnificent turn into the sunshine on takeoff. Great video - thank you!

Awesome video!! Thank you!
Thank you for the upload
Such an awesome video. I got chills and as a pilot (private only), may have gotten a little choked up. I hope to one day fly into SXM just to say I did.
I cried. It was a dream of mine to see a landing like this and be right there..
So happy to see the name of my city on the plane :)
There goes the queen, she's going in a trip and won't come back soon. Hope I can see you once again... ;-;
Anytime a Heavy, especially a 747 makes that right turn out of there, it's one of the most beautiful sights anywhere.
Beautiful!!
I really enjoyed this video, especially the take off: great camera work!
Sad to see the 747 depart for the last time from St Maarten :-(
Goodbye 747 you will always fly in our heart.😢

This was awesome! Huge like for my favourite plane in my favourite livery. Subbed :)
Love this blue bird, will miss her..,
Wow, we flew that machine PH-BFN in summer from NYC to AMS! It's really old and rundown on the inside!
Wow this beauty is so emotional I'm so sad 😞😞😞 long life for the Queen of the skies 😘😘😘
Great video, thanks for sharing!

The paint scheme of KLM's 747-400 added to the beauty of this Queen of the Sky. She looks like she could fly another 20 years.
Awesome video!
No!!!! I always wanted to see this, to experience this. Now like other good things, I never will... :(
I’m proud to say I got to see this beauty land here you will be missed queen of the sky

A book of my life has just closed. I watched it landing and taking off for 25 years ! Heart breaking
The water salute gets me emotional😥

Mizuri saana Bwana !!
Hopefully one day we will have enough volume to land 747s and A380s at JKIA.
I was on a 747 to JKIA not just a couple of weeks ago, the A380's I am still not sure but it in case there is an issue then it would have to be with the gate itself and not the runway.
