Incredible gifts for the chateau: books, porcelain and food!!!

- In 'Cadeaux at the Chateau', all of the inhabitants of the Chateau de Lalande gather together to open beautiful gifts that people have sent from all over the world. All of the monetisation from these videos will be donated to a different charity each month. UA-cam earnings fluctuate wildly each month, as ad revenue changes throughout the year. Here are the charities that we've donated to so far:

I used to show the gifts as part of ' @The Chateau Diaries ' episodes, but you're all so very generous that we have many gifts, and if we spent the episodes opening them, we wouldn't be able to show you other aspects of chateau life! So, for those of you who enjoy watching presents being opened, and as a way to thank those of you who were kind enough to send them, I've made this new channel. Every week we will film your beautiful gifts whilst enjoying afternoon tea or aperitif together.
It is very important to me that you know that we in no way expect anyone to send us gifts. I would like to go further than that and add that, if doing so will put you in any financial difficulty whatsoever, please, please do not send us anything. Knowing that you join us by watching 'The Chateau Diaries' gives us all an enormous boost. But for those of you who have sent these incredibly thoughtful gifts, I hope that seeing us open them gives you a fraction of the joy that you've given us 💖💖💖

Chateaulanders, I'm so glad that you are enjoying the gourmet food boxes and baskets. Each gift box is sourced from a different region (or regions) of France. June's basket, as you mentioned, Stephanie, held delicious foods found in Bretagne. The May gift box was the "Tour de France" from several regions. April's Easter box was Chocolate Indulgence, hopefully enjoyed by all, as the gift baskets are meant to be. The theme for March was Gastronomie Sud-Ouest. There are two benefits to such edible gifts; first, they keep Stephanie, Nati, Philip and fellow gift unwrappers energized as they pore through the weekly mountain of gifts to be discovered, and secondly, they incur no custom duties! it's a win-win for Chateaulanders. (PS: My own interpretation --- I call all fans of The Chateau Diaries and Chateau Unwrapped vlogs 'Lalanders' while referring to all the wonderful characters living/working there as 'Chateaulanders'.)

Always amazed by the thoughtful gifts... the beautiful 'Book of Days' showing the Chateaux and Philip was quick to say, "look dogs, Chateau life calls for dogs darling"... Stephanie just keeps talking! I did mention the dogs in the old postcard shot of Lalande, saying it was time for a puppy - and at last Amaury is bringing his dog over, thanks Natti! 🐶🦘

What really lights my lights is that all of you enjoy the journey! I've been restoring my "maison de maitre" for almost 50 years. It's still a work in progress but at 82 y/o I'm not sure if it will be done....in reality....it doesn't matter. We hope our journey at our residences will inspire those who come along after we are gone, are ready to take the next step and restore these wonderful places. Bon chance! Cheers.

I have a copy of the Très Riches Heures, I love it. One of my very favourite books. 🇦🇺 It contains what is thought to be the first cast shadow in a painting, and the figures diving into the river show the refraction as the body angle changes as it enters the water.

You are correct, the mother and child porcelain dish rightfully belongs in the chapel but my only concern is that being a small item it could easily “walk”. I don’t know what your security is like but I believe that the chapel isn’t always locked. Is the sacristy locked? If so that’s where I’d put it. It truly is an heirloom and needs to have a secure place to live.

Cynar is also my favorite apéritif, sorry it broke. And speaking of savon de Marseille, it also helps to calm the itching of mosquito bites’ specially when there is nothing at hand and that there are many bites, soap the area and let it stay without rinsing. There are so many worthy charities and causes to support. It breaks my heart that I can't support them all. The ones that alleviate suffering are the ones I tend to support: refugees, Indigenous land rights, habitat conservation, ecological justice, and animal rescues.
