As someone who only plays Capcom fighting games, I wanna say how happy I am for all of you Okami fans. I know how much you have been waiting years for a sequel and now that it’s a reality, I’m sending you joy and happiness especially to the Onimusha fans because I know how it feels as a Capcom fighting game to wait many years for you favorite franchises to get revived
I've seen sooo many comments of people like "Such a mid year smh" because of no HaLf LiFe 3 or whatever but we literally got Okami 2 and The Witcher 4....if you're tapped into gaming at all you know that's literally INSANE

The best part about all of this? Every single attack you saw Ammy do, can be done in Okami. Even the special, which is just the weaponized version of the three elemental attacks (though, no Galestorm?). It'll be interesting to see which weapons (aside from the ones shown already) will be integrated into her ability list.
Amaterasu seems to be quite underrated sometimes. Sure, I'm glad the game Okami has an HD remaster for the Nintendo Switch, yet I feel like there's something else that would give Amaterasu far more recognition than ever. This may sound unlikely, but do you want to know what I think would be Amaterasu's biggest comeback of all time? Becoming one of the five DLC characters for the Fighter's Pass for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate!
I'm still holding out hope for Ammy to come to Smash one day. We need more quadrupedal characters anyway, and all the Brush techniques and Divine Instruments would make for myriad potential movesets.
Regardless of how much I loved this gameplay (and I really did), the weird thing is: Unlike the "normal self" of other characters, Amaterasu doesn't look overpowered in her MVC incarnation compared to her own game, she REALLY can do ALL OF THAT SENSELESS ASSKICKING on Okami. if anything... she can do more hits and use more brush combinations for massive combo and damage
An apparent fan-favorite that even I will have fun using and putting to use in my team. She's got one of the prettiest specials so far with the use of elements. I like her slow-motion special which will come in handy for opponents who are too trigger happy and quick moving....
While a Resident Evil character would be more likely for a Capcom rep, the game Okami has a HD remaster for Nintendo Switch so that might raise Amaterasu's chances. Sometimes you have to expect the unexpected. I can imagine the crossover message at the end of her reveal trailer being, "Super Smash Bros Ultimate x Okami HD" to advertise Okami HD. #Amaterasu4Smash #SuperSmashBrosUltimatexOkamiHD
On the tier list, she's somewhere in the high tiers as character (not top mind you), but she is a first pick on assist due to how freaking broken it is.
Really really dig how she looks in game. This is a contender to my team. I somehow got the impression that she may be a very good keep away-character, which fits my style :)
I would so love to see Waka in this. Wielding Pillow Talk and his Katana, he would combo like the best of them. And because everyone else is posting their teams... Amaterasu, Zero and Wesker.
I think Ammy would be a great addition to the Smash family! I'm actually going to be creating a video talking about Amaterasu's gameplay if she were to ever be in a Smash game. Feel free to give me Amaterasu gameplay ideas (this goes for anyone here). I want to be as open minded as possible with this and consider a wide variety of different play styles. Amaterasu is a very versatile character, so let your imagination roam free! In the mean time, I'm doing a Let's Play of Okami at this moment in time. I'd greatly appreciate it if you guys checked it out!:D
+Katakuna I think Ammy should be one of the most diverse characters in Smash, being able to use all three of her divine instruments which change up her gameplay and what her standard attacks are, like in Marvel vs. Capcom 3. In my opinion, they could be switched out with the taunt button without moving the control stick, and she could have two regular taunts when you move the control stick upwards and or sideways. The switching of divine instruments would be done in a cycle, so between the Reflector, Beads, Glaive or something like that, which would happen in stantly like in MVC3. So things like here standard combo, aerial attacks side attacks (basically what you press with A), and even Smash Attacks could change depending on what weapon she had equipped. Her dash attack could just be her headbutt. Her specials could be Brush Techniques, though some could be implemented into other attacks such as throws or her Final Smash. Her throws could include the divinde instruments as subweapons like in Okami, such as her throwing an enemy then using the rapid fire of the Beads like Mewtwo's forward throw. Up throw maybe something like what happens when you counter an enemy in Okami with the Reflector, when you rise up into the air with them. Something simple could be used for back throw and down throw maybe. Standard Special could be PowerSlash or Cherry Bomb maybe, Side could be Wind, which could push enemies back like Mario's F.L.U.D.D, Up could Vine where a kunahana blossom appears. and she's pulled towards it. Down could by any elemental attack maybe. And her Final Smash could be essentially what she did as her Level 3 Hyper Combo in Marvel vs. Capcom 3, where she hits the opponents up into the air with Solar Flare, proceeds to beats on enemies with the Tundra Beads mercilessly, then beats down with the Thunder Glaive. You could add in the Okami Shuffle for good measure maybe. OP maybe, but she's a God afterall. ;)

It's ok, I'm rooting for Ammy to be in Smash - even if it's not all that likely, but I would love it so much, and have thought through what I think would be a great moveset for her. You're welcome :)
Either way, I would've had loved to have Ammy join the Smash cast. It's a bit too late now, but if Smash 5 is ever a thing, we could dream again I suppose. (Love your ideas by the way!)
@ziqi92 Actually the game engine is compatible with the Wii (MT Framework), however Capcom still found possible a Wii Version, but only after the release of the PS3/360 version

I remember this trailer during the summer of 2011 with my cousin Max's and Issabell, at our aunts house with my older cousin samantha an her Ex B.F Jesse during that time lol.
Amaterasu has energy wings of fire, allowing flight, energy projection and weapons summoning! She is a BEAST...literally!...and healthy, too! BURGLARS BEWARE...the dog goddess...AMATERASU!!! Swords, Pyrokinesis (Fire Whips) and Cryokinesis (Ice Blasts), and maybe even Electrokinesis as was seen in her Super Combo. And she's a heavy hitter!
OMG I love the Okami song on the background, a remix from Ammy last fight from Okami. Also his attacks are the awesome! hahaha hope that Ice Rosary did as much damage in the Okami game as in this one xD ! Also his Special Attack is incredible.
@shoNuuff ah thanks for the clear up on that I mostly use the rosary reflector combo so it acts like a shield when I play okami so I don't perform that counter very often.

so what do you guys think amaterasu's level 3 hyper combo will be? i'm thinking she turns into shiranui (after stunning the opponent with golden fury) then does that crazy super power slash that she does in the lekchu fight. i'd bet it has something to do with the celestial brush, seeing that it has yet to be used, besides whatever this is 0:34

Oh Dear Amaterasu! This is how i actually felt while watching this gameplay: Trailer starts with Okami song (heart softens) Amaterasu is beutifuly modeled (smile on my face) Reflector Combos attacks (too accurate, too sweet) Reflector Counter-attack on Hulk (that was unexpected, amazed) Weapon seletion, can equips beads and glaive at any time, 2 different beads, also weapon selection, affects moves (this is way above my expectations) Specials (a sudden tear of joy came out of my face)
This game was my introduction to Ammy and now currently I started playing okami HD and so far it’s a fun game and now that I’ve learned a sequel was announced I’ll check it out when I finish the first one and it comes out

Actually servbot was considered rather of a lethal joke back in the days. It was so small that it could actually completely evade most supers just by standing still and most basic attacks actually MISSED it. It did little damage but as long as it does not get hit, it doesn't matter. XD
Definitely one of my mains in this game only thing that sucks about her is her health bar 5 hits & she’s dead but It balances out cause of how OP she is.
My Fave Boss Battles On OKAMI are Crimson Helm, Nine-Tailed Fox, Orochi/ True Orochi (Seven-Headed Serpent) [with Susanoo mini-game LOL], Bandit Spider and Spider Queen, The Canine Warriors, the two owls (Golden Demon Lechku & Silver Demon Nechku), and who could never forget Dark Lord YAMI!
@shoNuuff Issun is there. You can see him bounding on Ammy's nose just before the fight begins. She really needs to cue the sun when she wins. Otherwise, letter-perfect.
@mcmmaster You are the one that made the mistake here:the voice comes from a flea called Isshin,which lives in Amaterasus's body.Isshin is counting with herself,so that's the reason for which she says 3 on 2 when wolverine is beaten.
@sngoku May be bigger but in Japan the SUN is the queen of Gods, being thunder under sun's power... also in nordic myths, thor is under odins orders, soo if you see this, thunder is on secondary level in both cultures, so okami must be more powerful, it is just that she is reincarnated in her wolf form

@nero709 if you've played the "okami" game in either Wii or PS2, you'll know what i'm talking about, he's a 3 inches small guy guiding amaterasu on her adventures in the game though amaterasu doesn't talk in the game but rather bark like an ordinary dog, awesome game (9.0 on gamespot) you'll need to read the subtitles coz you'll only hear them speak like gibberish, this game was influence on a street fighter IV game because of its hand-drawn images and brushstroke-like effects
@MaDDHaTTeR85 There is a chance that Talbain could be included since he's one of the more popular male characters, and if he is in (hint hint capcom) you could get a wolf team with him, Wolverine, and Ammy.
@IVKingPin The game is in developement stage usually many characters are overpowered rat this stage. Just to say an example curently Dante alone has 40 separate super moves.
@MetalTheMaker i beg to differ. Ammy is literally the Shinto Goddess of same name, status and divinity. AmaterasuOmikami, her full name literally means "The Great Goddess that shines in the Heavens" Yes, in the female gender specificly. Much before capcom created Okami, Amaterasu was depicted as both a wolf and a heavenly maiden throughout all of Japan's history/mythology. Her game itself mentions by many times Ammy is a girl if you actually played it. This is fact, not speculation ;3
@Sk8Meowfia Early previews show Okamiden to be promising, but yeah were all a lil peeved that it didnt come out on a next gen console although thats all your faults for not buying the first game! but the DS is a fitting approach considering the cartoony graphics and the touchscreen. Watching Hulk, Wolverine and Deadpool getting beaten up by a dog is priceless. If this comes out for PC, Ammy is probably going to be one of my mains along with Megaman.
@vick123XD the wii's not a terrible system, but it lacks both the processing power and capacity to power this game. besides, the gaming engine they're using isnt made to cope with the wii. then theres the online portion to consider.
Anyone read Usagi Yojimbo? After playing Okami, I happened to read the entire series of the rabbit bodyguard so far, and in it Sakai does an adaptation of the Amaterasu folklore as well!

Her sword has electric properties, plus she can slow down time.

Nope, they still have the 2nd announcer, there was some footage in a Spanish preview for the game that had her.
Last time I felt this pumped about a game character was when I fiest heard STRIDER HIRYU was in the first MvC...
My Fave Boss Battles On OKAMI are Crimson Helm, Nine-Tailed Fox, Orochi/ True Orochi (Seven-Headed Serpent) [with Susanoo mini-game LOL], Bandit Spider and Spider Queen, The Canine Warriors, the two owls (Golden Demon Lechku & Silver Demon Nechku), and who could never forget Dark Lord YAMI!
Amaterasu looks badass definitely going to main; granted, it wouldve been one of my mains anyway.
@sngoku That blast attack, and the fact that she can switch into an air-juggle into a special attack is going to maker her broken in the right hands.

@mcmmaster You are the one that made the mistake here:the voice comes from a flea called Isshin,which lives in Amaterasus's body.Isshin is counting with herself,so that's the reason for which she says 3 on 2 when wolverine is beaten.
@sngoku May be bigger but in Japan the SUN is the queen of Gods, being thunder under sun's power... also in nordic myths, thor is under odins orders, soo if you see this, thunder is on secondary level in both cultures, so okami must be more powerful, it is just that she is reincarnated in her wolf form

@nero709 if you've played the "okami" game in either Wii or PS2, you'll know what i'm talking about, he's a 3 inches small guy guiding amaterasu on her adventures in the game though amaterasu doesn't talk in the game but rather bark like an ordinary dog, awesome game (9.0 on gamespot) you'll need to read the subtitles coz you'll only hear them speak like gibberish, this game was influence on a street fighter IV game because of its hand-drawn images and brushstroke-like effects
@MaDDHaTTeR85 There is a chance that Talbain could be included since he's one of the more popular male characters, and if he is in (hint hint capcom) you could get a wolf team with him, Wolverine, and Ammy.
@IVKingPin The game is in developement stage usually many characters are overpowered rat this stage. Just to say an example curently Dante alone has 40 separate super moves.

AmaterasuOmikami, her full name literally means "The Great Goddess that shines in the Heavens" Yes, in the female gender specificly.
Much before capcom created Okami, Amaterasu was depicted as both a wolf and a heavenly maiden throughout all of Japan's history/mythology. Her game itself mentions by many times Ammy is a girl if you actually played it.

Early previews show Okamiden to be promising, but yeah were all a lil peeved that it didnt come out on a next gen console although thats all your faults for not buying the first game! but the DS is a fitting approach considering the cartoony graphics and the touchscreen. I think it has potential. BTW do you have to flood the first two pages with responses?
Watching Hulk, Wolverine and Deadpool getting beaten up by a dog is priceless. If this comes out for PC, Ammy is probably going to be one of my mains along with Megaman.

i'm amazed they gave her Mist, and i was totally expecting the elemental trio... though i was expecting a suzanoo-assisted Crescent or Sunrise.
@vick123XD the wii's not a terrible system, but it lacks both the processing power and capacity to power this game. besides, the gaming engine they're using isnt made to cope with the wii. then theres the online portion to consider.

Anyone read Usagi Yojimbo? After playing Okami, I happened to read the entire series of the rabbit bodyguard so far, and in it Sakai does an adaptation of the Amaterasu folklore as well!
