NOTE: I mention that there will be a lore video "next Friday" meaning October 13. This will not be the case as I have a lot I'm still working out script-wise because I want to make sure I cover everything I want to cover. It will likely be released on the 20th instead.
FYI for folks who wander by, the storage container on the table beside the research station in the Constellation basement is literally an infinite storage container you can put literally every item in the game into if you want. I keep all my resources and food in there for quick transfer to me, craft, quick transfer back to box. Super easy and a great place to keep ALL THE THINGS.
Regarding performance 99% of what you hear was just people rushing to rub their hate boners on Starfield for the clicks. I've ran it on all sorts of cards. Ran fin on an Arc A-770 when the internet said it wouldn't even load. Held a solid 30fps @ 1080 on a GTX 1060 at launch. This ain't a perfect game. They never are but the disproportionate hate this game has received on this platform just for clicks is something new for Bethesda.
Very good video, valid criticisms from someone who enjoys the game. Now, nearly a year later, it's interesting how they seemed to listen to these concerns--survival mode, interior starship design mode, etc. On the food buffs, I think that yes, some are not too significant, but every little bit helps. For example, the 3% xp boost for drinking tea doesn't sound like much, but when stacked with other buffs (well rested bonus, etc.) it's not bad.
People complaining about lag may have 4K monitors and are demanding 60 FPS. I refuse to get a 4K monitor. I am fine with 2k. The resolution quality isn't worth the performance demand IMO, as I am never complaining about performance in any of my games. I was using a 1080 Ti until Cyberpunk 2077. It was the RTX features that made me finally upgrade with a 3080Ti. At which point they announced DLSS 3.0 and then 3.5 with the 40 Series limitation. Figures. Starfield runs fine for me though.
Yeah the 3060 I run with is due to just a full system upgrade that I did because my old PC straight up stopped letting me stream without insane lag. I also have zero interest in a 4k monitor and frankly, I don't get understand the draw either. 1080p has been just great for me for all these years, plus I don't seem to run into these performance issues everyone else complains about.
I have a $50 Lenovo monitor from like 15 years ago. Looks like shit no matter what graphics I use, lol. Square resolution, not rectangle, so it's all a mess.
After a year or so I finally got to play Starfield, and it's great. It's crazy how game and company received more hate for this than CDPR with CP2077. Especially when we are getting forst DLC after a year, while Cyberpunk took threee years and a DLC to be a decent game.
I played 80 hours. I am a Bethesda fanboy. This game is 6-6.5/10. Loading screens ruined the game. Vanguard quest line was really good. Everything else was terrible, predictable and boring. Main quest is non existent. Shooting was great. Gun variety is poor. Crafting is really good. Loved it. Improvement from Fallout 4. Characters are boring except Barret. That guy is so funny. I will wait for a year or two, wait for more updates and play again. Hopefully it will be the gam it should have been from the beginning.
Very interesting perspective. I definitely disagree about the story stuff but hey, that's just how things are sometimes. Sounds like the ign 7 rating is pretty much a really good average for what everyone feels. But yeah I'm hoping a lot of my gripes get improved on through either updates (which they've said 5 years) or mods. But we'll see. Maybe I'll revisit in a year after next weeks lore video and see the state of the game.
7:01 - i distinctly remember that feeling of finding my first roll of duct tape in starfield. Opening the scanner & pointing it at this small grey/black circle which sure enough, was outlined in blue. But there was nothing to tell me it was a crafting component. In my inventory i compared it to the minerals i had collected outside, & to the adaptive frames & reactive gauges. Indeed, this was just a decorative piece. Holy fuck i thought, we're not in Boston anymore.
This guy doesn’t even know about new game plus or doesn’t want to mention it. That is why the powers are so weak during the first play through Bethesda wants you to grind new game plus at least 10 times. Me I just ignored the main quest and had fun role playing.
From the first 30ish seconds of the video: "Next Friday will be all about the story, major lore, *new game plus*, and all of the spoilers." I haven't talked about it yet because I have so much to say about all that it was going to make the video an hour long.
What I don’t get is why everyone loves Mass Effect but hates Starfield. Starfield does just about everything Mass Effect does but better and gives you far more freedom than Mass Effect. Gamers have become jaded.

Oh look it‘s the guy that actually takes his time to produce quality content!

Such a fantastic video. I’m loving Starfield as well, and I thought your little review and retrospective was perfect.
Thanks! Glad to hear you enjoyed!
Great, like nostalgia said it’s a banger. Looking forward to part 2!

I was also so much better in space combat when I finally realized what the hell the thrusters were.
It's currently a 7.5 but it may increase after the modding community and long term support from Bethesda happens moving forward.
Fair assessment. Really looking forward to what the community comes up with
After shattered space and the updates such and dune buggies I think it’ll be great.

Please give us updated impressions post ship deco update. Thank you.
Great Video !
Oblivion on the xbox 360 had radiant a.i... its crazy that starfield's npcs are even more lifeless than a game from two console generations ago
