People in general need to value Being a critical thinker /curious/healthy Skepticism since it’s a crucial trait we all need to engage in to best navigate the quagmire we’re witnessing. Another key element is discernment which requires one to maintain a position of observation which is being curious without judgement, without bias, without the need for jumping to conclusions. This goes along way to increasing the aperture in one’s consideration of information. The observation stance allows for many aspects to be assessed and a larger picture to be seen. It also means one holds no attachments either way. It requires vigilance particularly regarding biases that can creep into one’s perception. Filtering information by asking one’s self : is it what it is? And, is this what I am being told it is? And is this what I believe it is? And is this what it should be/could be? And what else can it be? Along with who, what, where, when, why and how? Paying close attention to the language being used …much can be gleaned from doing this too. Robust research that is unbiased and looks at all sides, is another key element. As is understanding the purpose of game theory, programs of misinformation/misinformation, conspiracies, hermunettics, ideologies … Shawn, Keep doing what you’re doing. I will add it’s essential not to fall into out right distrust of everything that leads to circular thinking and ultimately is self defeating. It is not language per se which changes us. It is the message and the emotions transported through the vehicle of language which changes us. We need to be vigilant about this …

Before I came to read the comments, I actually was thinking this after about halfway through the interview. I’m not finished watching yet and I’m not saying there aren’t some truths to some of the things he’s saying, I think there is, but I agree with you. I have pretty good discernment with people overall (that doesn’t mean I can’t ever be deceived in some way) and something just seems off. He did say after “Be skeptical about everything”. I will indeed continue to be skeptical about everything 🙂

This is so true….I lived through this and witnessed this first hand in my 29yr career. Made me sick and yes, I kept my head down until I could retire but it still adversely affected my career. And heads up, once again there is a current letter being circulated endorsing Harris and being signed by formers, i.e. more recently retired, senior intelligence officers. They are very open about doing this and soliciting supporters on Facebook. Still makes me sick.

And what else can it be? Along with who, what, where, when, why and how? Paying close attention to the language being used …much can be gleaned from doing this too. Robust research that is unbiased and looks at all sides, is another key element. As is understanding the purpose of game theory, programs of misinformation/misinformation, conspiracies, hermunettics, ideologies …

Before I came to read the comments, I actually was thinking this after about halfway through the interview. I’m not finished watching yet and I’m not saying there aren’t some truths to some of the things he’s saying, I think there is, but I agree with you. I have pretty good discernment with people overall (that doesn’t mean I can’t ever be deceived in some way) and something just seems off. He did say after “Be skeptical about everything”. I will indeed continue to be skeptical about everything 🙂

This is so true….I lived through this and witnessed this first hand in my 29yr career. Made me sick and yes, I kept my head down until I could retire but it still adversely affected my career. And heads up, once again there is a current letter being circulated endorsing Harris and being signed by formers, i.e. more recently retired, senior intelligence officers. They are very open about doing this and soliciting supporters on Facebook. Still makes me sick.
