I lived in Olongapo City back in 77, and 78. Fun Times! Great Experiences! I use to be the U.S. Security at the Main Gate, and All Gates to Subic Bay as a Marine Barracks Guard Sentry! Checking Vehicles for Bombs, and illegal Stuff etc. I worked the Main Pedestrian Gate Too! We had a Guard Shack right at the Main Gate entrance! Wish i could post Photos on UA-cam like before. I have Lots of Photos of the Gates with me in Uniform, and off Duty heading in to Town back then! I also had a Few homes out in Olongapo i rented. They were Only $40.00 a Month to Rent!!! Peace, and Love to the People of the Philippines! Great People!!! Salmat for the Memories!!! Mark Rockledge
Thank you very much for sharing your memories of Subic Freeport Olongapo city Philippines! Main gate is getting a make over where you work at, Filipino security keeps presence at the gates. So much has changed since her former days, but for the better. I will be making more updates to Old base and Olongapo City very soon. Yoo should start a UA-cam with that old photo footage Subic days people love to see this. Thank you for your comments! Very much appreciated
Olongapo City is very much changed since early days. Lots of little cafés, shopping centers and restaurants. I will be making more videos of Olongapo City in the future.
Lot of memories i was TAD in our Detachment COMFAIRWESTPAC NAS Cubi Pt in 73-74 and then i was stationed at NAS Cubi Pt Supply Department in 1976-79. When i was stationed at COMFLEACTS, AIMD in Okinawa i attended 4X maintenance school for a week at Fleet Training Group in NAS Cubi Pt between 1983-85 😊watching from Glendale CA
Thank you very much for sharing your memories! This is one of the reasons I made a series of videos about this beautiful city, showing folks that once walked these same streets decades ago. I will be making many more Olongapo City and surrounding areas. As you can see Olongapo City is much changed since her former days, turning into a very beautiful city.
I was stationed at Cubi Point RP from 1987-1989 and just looking at this video, those were fun times for us young sailors from teenagers to guys in their 40's-50's; a disneyland for guys.
Yes, Olongapo City has changed very much since her earlier days most places around Olongapo are new and updated, but you do find some old buildings of the past still around. Main gate is biggest change with huge shopping center as soon as you arrive Magsaysay, but change is good and Olongapo City is nice city to visit.
Hello, I will suggest to feature Hotel that are reasonable in price along Magsaysay drive Rizal Ave and Gordon Ave. That is a good content for your vlog. Thanks
So many fun times back in the day, I stayed in Magsaysay when we came down from Yokosuka, was never really a Barrio fan BUT our division party was a blast. Loved the Top Gun, Florida and Cal Jams clubs, damn those girls were hot. I met my Wife at Pizza Pocket some now 32 years ago.. May be moving to Subic in a few more years, the Wife will be going there in late October to look for property along with going to a class reunion. 👍🏻..
Thank you very much for the comment! Yes, Olongapo City Magsaysay Drive is very very much different than her past days. Subic Freeport is much improved and has alot to offer. Great memories! Yup, I travel all over Asia so heading back to Subic in the near future.
in the mid 80s, as you walked over the shit river bridge, on the left you had fantasia club, and then rock trax. I was a regular at 24 fender street at the freaks stagger inn. Roger, who was the owner, was a great friend. that whole mall on the right across from where rock trax was, did not exist. it was an empty lot that led into the little houses where all the locals lived on the river. I remember pretty much every bar on magsaysay. none are left from what I can see on your video. at the end where the traffic circle is, they used to have cock fights on the left in a housing area. if you went right at the traffic circle, there was Scottys barbecue. great monkey meat there. at least that's what we were told it was.@@travelingfrogman
@@lacrosseloft8823 Yes so much has changed on Magsaysay Drive, I also have been here during the 1980's. Right now, there are only a few remaining buildings from its past days. Thank you for sharing your comments! I truly appreciate it! I will be making more videos of Olongapo City Philippines very soon.
I don't really know if base is coming back, but what I notice is much more military around. Having been to Clark Freeport Zone seems much more of a presence though.

Where was Rock Trax located on Magsaysay?

Yes the Subic bay is coming back..
Subic Freeport is coming along well, but Clark seems to be a step ahead for what I have noticed. Subic has tremendous potential
Is 9 base already prepared to move back to Philippines..
