A little tip is to reassemble without the rubber boot so you can access the dry clutch and make adjustment after the grip is refitted. Then remove the grip and put on the boot.
For those who are wondering, the Virpil new base is slightly better. It has quadruple metal cams inside (dual cams for each axis). As for VKB - they only have one cam for each. This makes the Virpil base more sturdy and it looks really more advanced from the inside. It does not have ANY plastic at all, unlike the VKB. As for that what is above the base (the stick), both companies offer plastic, so in the end important is what is inside I guess. Virpil will release new T50 stick next month so I suggest wait for that. Also you can buy Virpil stuff every two weeks. Also they are cheaper. Also they ship and arrive faster. I actually dont own a VKB, but these are my thoughts of what I saw online and the experience from my VPC WarBRD.
vkb has damping adjustment virpil does not. This is especially important for helicopter simming because no springs are used to stay true with real-life and being able to fly properly
Wow! Those are amazing controllers! If I am not happy with the controllers I just bought, then I will look into getting controllers like these. Thanks for the video.
Dude these are some freaking amazing controllers. I really REALLY want one but I don’t think I can possibly afford one of those. Thank You for reviewing this though NOOBIFIER. 👍
Looking forward to the head-to-head comparison. I will be interested to see if a sim/gaming control setup is best served using components from one manufacturer, or if certain components from different manufacturers combine to make an "ideal" rig. Thanks Noobifier!
I am also patiently waiting for the shootout for these 3 companies. I was really wanting to invest in Virpil , but I am waiting because I know you will give a good comparison to help me make my decision. Keep doing what you do, because it helps us do what we do.
I got my VKB WWII Gunfighter Pro today to replace my Gladiator Mk2 and it is a big step up. Superb build quality and a nice hefty feel to the controls. VKB no longer offers the Gunfighter Pro. You need to buy the desktop model and the extension kit and put it together yourself. Just finished in less than 20 mins with no surprises or problems.
1:Look at the #EXPOSED series in this channel. SPOILER: VKB wins in the grip department. 2: Look at Snake Eater's review of the VKG Konstellation system. SPOILER: VKB also wins because of the gimbal size and the springless detents for dual stick mode. Virpil wins in compatibility...unless you find an adapter.
Lovin' these deep-dive vids. No time right now to execute my purchase, but you are instrumental in the formation of my decision. Thanks Noob, I'm sure in time I will be looking back at this videos with the proper hardware in front of me. New flight model first if you know what I mean.
This is my stick manufacturer of choice. Be patient. They are a bit brusk, and there WILL be delays. It's worth it. Especially for the kind of fine control you need for helicopters.
I've been a huge Thrustmaster fan for 20+ years, but as I am getting back into more games that are meant for joysticks, your reviews have made me think that if I am going to get a high end stick it will probably be a VKB or Virpil product. I'm still a huge fan of Thrustmaster and Logitech for entry to mid level sticks, but these seems to be a superior product if you are going to lay out the kind of money that something like Thrustmaster's A-10 setup would run you anyway.
Question. I have a warthog and dislike the tough spring, rather sticky , juddery imprecise movement. and thudding indent. ( though not as bad as my Cougar had ) Which of the sticks between Virpil and VKB has a lighter smoother feel ? Im really liking the look of the VKB . My fear is I spend another fortune and get yet another stick that feels worse than my 20 year old Microsoft sidewinder :(
Looking forward to the head to head comparison particularly between the VKB Cosmosima grip and the VIRPIL Constellation Delta grips. Does VKB make a comparable throttle or are we limited to either Warthog or VIRPIL throttles? I’m also interested in hearing about “thumb reach” on the sticks too. I’m cursed with small hands/short fingers so the reach for the thumb activated hats and secondary analog thumb sticks is a concern. Maybe discuss “true” availability for non-youtubers too, as this seems to be a major concern for both VIRPIL and VKB. Thanks in advance!
Love your tech video's! [Question] Is there a big difference between VPC'S Mongoos T-50CM2 and VKB's Gunfighter MK.II? They almost look the same, is there a difference in quality?
Thanks, Noobifier. I am very interested in having great two stick configuration for flying in Star Citizen. I'd rather not have to try all the combinations myself and your insight and access is greatly appreciated.
How long did it take you to disassembe and re-assemble? How many times did you need to break the unit down for trial and error of the different cams/springs/clutch to suit your fly-style.
It took longer the first time. After it was pretty quick, plus I didn’t attach the rubber boot many times. I ended up with stock springs and cam 30. A bit of grab on the friction dampener.
Would be awesome if you could show the height of the hand wrest when desktop mounted compared to the warthog and constellation delta. Im curious if have to pick different extentions to level them out (dual setup)
@@NOOBIFIER1337 oh good to hear hopfully soon ;) im close to finally buy me a new stick. your videos are good input on decision making due to their percise analysis. Thanks for that ;)
Hello, sorry but my English is very bad and it is difficult for me to understand what is the use of changing the springs ... is it for the controller to feel harder to move? Thank you
Last video I suggested a throttle for you to look into. I have one other recommendation of gear for you to consider pursuing a demo for. Thrustmaster has a new line of products they are looking to release in the very near future. A new Hornet based stick that will replace the A-10 Warthog stick on the same joystick gimbal. The guy at E3 theorizes its price point to be around $200. A new set of pedals, and a military inspired headset that has some license or something from the USAF. Here's a link from an E3 article by VRFocus if you'd like to check it out: www.vrfocus.com/2018/06/thrustmaster-takes-to-the-skies-with-new-product-line/ This equipment is being aimed at the DCS community, but all their nice gear works for us as well.
@@bojan7496 don't worry, I've got two and they don't need lubricant and I'm sure they won't for a long time. You could use a slight drop of machine oil on the metal parts if you really wanted but make sure it's so small that it doesn't touch anything else

MORE! So few people have reviews of these products, let alone enough of each to do a good comparison. Looking forward to much more in this series.
Great video! Looking forward to the manufacturer head-to-head video as well.

It’s odd that you have to piece it now
I like how the redesigned the spring mount to allow for 2. i could use that on my version for when i have the extension on with the TH warthog grip
The warthog adapter kit has its own W cam for warthog
Intresting, I'm waiting for a "Head to Head" comparison between VKB and Virpil...

Thanks. I think you will love that throttle

what cam are you using for helicopter? i hate the 10 cam, worth switching to 30?

Good stuff. I may be in the market for a high end pair of sticks. This info is invaluable.
Damn thats a lot of engineering
Can't wait for head to head! Please release it before the 11th. :)
I’ll try
This is more useful than the video that VKB created.
Love my MCG PRO, only wishing the documentation was better. there is so much u can change in the software as well but hard to understand what and how

VKB's throttle doesn't have a release date, so it's Thrustmaster or VIRPIL at this point.

It is to add stiffness to the controller. More resistance

thanks noob, this will help a lot after I purchase my dual kosmosima's. Could you make a maintenance video on the gunfighter?
This was that exact video!!
I'm talking about lubricating or whatever else is needed to keep the gimbal in good working order.@@reprobite

Ok @@reprobite thank you, I am glad to hear that. Was a bit concerned about maintaining the gimbal.
WarBRD and Gunfighters come ready to go, the bearing that the cam turns will be pre lubricated and I doubt you need to worry for a good while

So where did you end up with the dry clutch?
Mostly disengaged

Looks amazing but i thing i am to stupid to disassemble this. This mustn't come with a manual but rather a technician included.
Okay, I think I got it... Send it to me and I'll give it a try... 😁
its nice but I don't think its something I can use
