Mr. Krug, I have some good news to tell you! I'm taking AP Biology along with AP Chemistry and found out that the concepts in AP Biology have a lot of relationships with chemistry and understanding them really hits the concepts home! For example, in the section about enzymes, they explained what endergonic and exergonic reactions were and how favorable they are along with explaining that endergonic reactions are COUPLED with multiple exergonic reactions to make the process more spontaneous (thermodynamically favorable), which is what this lesson is all about! They also mentioned catalysts, activation energy, and free energy as well.

Thanks for sharing the good news! AP Chem is one of those classes that really does get you prepared for all your other science courses, both in high school and after. Best wishes on all your future studies!

I‘m wondering if the things that will be tested in the AP chemistry test is all covered in this course because I see my friends struggling with AP chem everyday. However, listening to this course makes me think that AP chem is rlly easy

I thought the melting of water was endo thermic. Wouldn’t that be unfavorable because most favorable ones are exothermic?

You're correct that the melting of ice is endothermic, which means that enthalpy would not drive this process. However, it involves a large increase in entropy, which means that entropy is the driving factor for this process. Good question!
