As someone who has 3/4 acre large trees and shrubs help as a backdrop .. but as with every garden the space quickly fills up (20-30 species of trees alone - some free from a native nursery also) ... right now trying to find space for a fall favorite of mine a sugar maple (we already have a October Glory red maple) to replace one a neighbor cut down ... since I miss the fall color .. another hazard is the wildlife ... we regularly get deer and rabbits add in a moderate drought this year and it has been a challenge this year although we do love having the wildlife.
When I scouted out this landscape for this episode, it was a Sunday afternoon. The Hocks were so hospitable and I was there over 2 hours...so many entertaining stories about their lives and their landscape. Hopefully, viewers got enough information to spark some ideas for their own gardens. It is hard to boil things down!
I am so jealous. What a beautiful yard!
Fantastic episode!…as always!
