Yay! Budget build is back!
Finally.
I did an experiment with plexiglass. I went to my local acrylic supplier and got some scrap acrylic from them, I dissolved as much as I could in acetone, Put some custom speaker mounts I made out of MDF into a bag with the mixture, let it soak in for awhile, took it out and let it dry. The end result was MDF that was water proof all the way through and much more strong and cut like a dream.
@DeusVult1527 That works but what I did made it waterproof to the core. I can drill or cut it and it's still good. It's not for large pieces but for small stuff it's perfect. I did it with some scrap MDF cut it up after it dried, put it in water for a few weeks and it didn't soak in at all.
Keep us updated can't wait to see how it turns out 👍🎣👏👏👏🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
Love your work, excellent job on the boat
For my subfloor I lined it with xps and sealed it then I'm pour foaming on top. My theory is I'll still get the maximum floatation possible. But have drainage and possible ventilation depending on how you seal it prior to pour foam. It's my first boat. Thought I would share incase you thought it was a good idea.
Just sharing…I made my flooring for my 10 foot Jon Boat with styrofoam and thin outdoor carpet. I didn’t want wood because it attracts bugs and weighs a small boat down too much. Plus didn’t want to bolt the flooring down and want to remove it so I can clean boat better and replace my styrofoam and carpet easily thus keeping it clean and new
I would really like to see that boat. Please DM it to me somewhere.
You should put mini split air conditioning in your garage it’s ductless hangs on the wall or ceiling and comes with a very energy efficient quiet condenser out side. Would work great to keep it cool or closer to temp so you can work paint etc. i doibt you need heat there but there is just ac ones also ones that are hea pump. Heat/cool push of a button
I did
Great video i would love know the buget once completed Chris from OHIO
You and me both!
I would suggest you consider trying Dakota Lithium - Ryan & Sophie Sailing, have an awesome UA-cam video on Lithium batteries in boats.
Dakota’s management is subpar.
that hook 2 is basic but its also plenty for the boat you are puting it on. not a bad deal.
Agreed
mid 50s here sir.... i found trading "energy drinks" for frozen orange gatorade (becomes a slushy) made my entire ancient old feelin body feel much better longer.... and very cost effective.....
Thanks
I’m currently restoring a 1984 17’ sea nymph. It’s not a tiny boat, but it’s not very wide and has no storage or rod lockers. Are you guys familiar with these boats and could you make a kit for me? I forgot to add it’s a ski sport model
This is perfect for a budget build
You can buy sheets of foam that pool noodles are made out of and gasoline doesn't effect it.
What are they called?
what router bit did you use to acheive that drop for the hatch ends? can you give me a specific name for it? thanks in advance brother
Hi, I continue watching your programme just to be more amazed everytime. I have the will, desire and tech savvy to do a boat mod and am saving up for said exercise. What are the different kits available to get the matter off to a good start? You know how the Minister of Finances keeps a close eye on things in any household.
Kind regards,
Kobus de Wet
The GEN-X full build kits are the cheapest
@@TinyBoatNation where can I see the prices ? Maybe on an email response from you or on your website? Please advise.
What do you think about turning a 12' v bottom into a panga?
I have no idea what that is
Will carpet glue stick to the wood after its coated in resin?
Yes but if your gonna use carpet, just paint the wood with enamel
How thick is the plywood that you used for this build? I’m currently doing something similar with my 14ft, but with 5/8 thick. It was free but it’s also heavy.
I used 1/2”
@tinyboatnation Does anyone can you tell please why is better to use wooden decks instead of aluminium decks?
They are not better, but they are stronger per span and cheaper to make.
Looking good! If you have to use wood the routed drop in lids are cool. How much did you really save by going wood deck vs aluminum especially when you consider the cost of the resin?
I probably saved around $1000
What router bits did u run on this
Do you ever 7se flex seal on your boats
NEVER!!!!!!!!
Nice.. What kind of wood can I use besides marine wood?
Fir-rated plywood
Hello, I like watching your videos. Can you please tell me what the green hoses are for? 7:48 minutes
Water drain runoffs
FYI Nate...You may already know this, but I will post it anyway. Lithium batteries and water = EXPLOSION ! At least for computer batteries anyway.
What are you using to connect the wood to the aluminum. I am redoing A 1980 sea nymph 19' currently using you as motivation. My boat was left outside abused it uncovered for many years I had to rip the subfloor out all the foam out the council all the trim pieces everything was taken out it was all just falling apart.
1” grip rivets. We have em on our website
Do you resin coat the bottom of the panels or just the top and the edges?
I would do the whole thing
What is the width of this boat ?
I believe it’s 5ish ft
do you have anyone in las Vegas Nevada that can help me fix a 16 foot tracker riveted boat?
No
you guys are building boats out of interior grade plywood and soaking it with resin… have you ever considered marine plywood designed for water?
