On Valentine's Day 2021, Men in Kilts launched in the US by network Starz - which should also later appear on Amazon Prime in the UK. My viewers asked me to do an early review, but it couldn't happen as @Starz left me off the PR invite list :(
Men in Kilts is a Scottish travel documentary series by Outlander actors Sam Heughan and Graham McTavish. The lads go off on a mission to discover some of the things they act about in Outlander.
So since I couldn't see the show in the UK, I decided to make this video with my Scottish pal John Loughton as we went for a hike!

I'm from America and I think it's ridiculous that we get to see it and the UK doesn't yet.
It's just damn rude! As always though, it's about the greedy buggers and $$$$$$! I'm an American, and I watched them on PBS, then waited on the Downton Abbey DVD's. I'll have to decide about buying Outlander.

If it's any consolation, whenever there's a popular British series (i.e. Downton Abbey), Americans have to wait to watch it here. You know that the problem isn't the technology, so we must all be victims of the marketing.
And if a digital copy is purchased, it’s the British version we American’s get. The only real difference is the intro, which I did actually prefer.
During the pandemic, a lot of us in the US have discovered the fantastic shows the Brits make. Esp murder mysteries.
I almost fainted. British TV can never console someone that wants Scottish TV. England is not Scotland. 🏴 Just call me Gieliss Dougl McTavish.

The trek was thoroughly enjoyable, man; I especially appreciated the well-maintained continuity. The footage also had a wholeness to it that one finds when actually experiencing an event, e.g., the good and rough that accompany all experiences that, if any are left out, would leave it lacking. I feel I was there. Thank you, Shaun.

"Hello" from the Appalachian piedmont (aka, Atlanta). Have not caught Men in Kilts and, tbh, it probably won't make it into my queue, but, the moment I saw an advert for the series, my very first thought was: Shaun has been doin' this sort of thing for years already! Maybe not in a kilt, but you've been adventuring us around all parts of Scotland for many years now. You're the most engaging storyteller and no one else has your style of humor. You keep us laughing, even in tough times. Your cinematography of Scotland is mesmerizing, always. Hey!...you could always start a mock travel series called: "Men Without Kilts". :D Nothing against the other guys - just prefer Shaunvlogs.

Loved this Shaun!!! Way to icy, windy, snowy for me (I prefer balmy beach weather) but when you started with a McDonalds breakfast I knew I had to stay til the end 😂😂😂😂

This is enchanting/humorous ... I don’t know what emotion that equals, but I love it. Your laughs alone are worth the watch. I lost 4 family members in 2019, all before covid, including my daughter, Laura. Now a sister of my heart has developed pancreatic cancer. I cry every day and find it hard to smile much less laugh. So you can imagine how wonderful your personality is to make me actually laugh. Thanks for everything and keep going. Shaun, I agree with everything you say, I have the ‘Clanlands’ book, the Audio book, the ‘Sassenach’ whisky, waited almost a year! worth the wait! I am an elderly Scottish/English lady, was it too much to ask! Intuition told me there would be no ‘Men in Kilts’ for us, but we do have two lovely Scottish red haired men, minus kilts, for obvious reasons, I have enjoyed your fabulous winter wonderland tour on 50ins T.V. I have named your venture above Edinburgh ‘Braveheart’s’ or, the Two Jolly Ginger ‘Nut’s’ bless you both for sharing the fun 🤩 from a new fan, a Scottish/English Rose 🌹 Slainte mhath!

@@JRR0013 He is one of them, true! Many of you don't seem to be aware of Adhàmh O Broin. He is the dialect coach for the Outlander cast. He teaches traditional Scots Gaelic (Gàidhlig) and he does videos of the Highlands. He is also trying to teach Gàidhlig to anyone who will learn in order to preserve Scottish tradition and help the rest of the world see the true Scotland without the UK influence. 🏴 Alba gu bràth!
I'm grateful to you Shaun for your travel advice and inspiration of Scotland. Because of you and your channel my sister and I (from Canada 🇨🇦) had a fabulous tour of Scotland in 2019 (some of our time with Rabbies Tours, because of your recommendations)! I live in FL USA and watched Men In Kilts today which was the first episode which like you said was about food and drink and it was a good watch, but I was disappointed that there was no mention of the next episode. I watched it on Amazon Prime Starz channel. Your scenery is absolutely beautiful and makes me wish I was back in the mountain rather than here in the flat swampy land . I enjoyed your adventure as much as the Men in Kilts.
You're doing soooo much walking lately... Taking us to such lovely places and you were doing the lovely tours of Scotland long before Sam and Graham.....now you just need a book!

I remember being up there in the 80’s, digging trenches as part of my military training. Sitting in a trench, freezing cold and you could see the TV’s on in the houses in the distance
What a hike! I was cold watching you guys. 🥶 Good job reaching the top. Beautiful views. The wind and drifting snow reminded me very much of winters growing up in upstate New York. Freezing cold and feet of snow.

Men in Kilts aired last night for my location. Although a big fan of Sam and the whole Outlander series...I was not impressed. The episode was short and their attention to what they were presenting was short. This video was fantastic! Thos snow shots with the wind were phenomenal. Be safe but aim for the stars! I would watch you two any day! You are very entertaining.

Beautiful scenery!! I remember how cold and windy it was on top of Ben Lawers in September - I can’t imagine what it must be like on top in the winter with snow!!
Being in North Carolina, USA, and having a subscription to "Starz" I saw Men IN Kilts. It's not a bad show, but it it 100% geared to the Scottish American audience. I like your vlogs as they are not a scripted show, made for TV. We Scottish Americans want the 100% real deal about Scotland. Part of us longs to be there and see it for ourselves, but a lot of us can't make it right now. I will come one day. If I had known you were in NC I would have driven to meet you. Keep up these vlogs Shaun, we love them here, and will continue to watch. Thanks
Just watched ! I am VERY late to the party,, Just started watching Outlander ! I am from Texas and have been to Scotland twice (instantly fell in love with the country) The first episode of Men in Kilts was food and whisky,, Two of my favorite things ! They visited Islay, truly the Mecca of whisky ! Watching both shows ONLY makes me want to visit AGAIN !! The entire state of Texas is under a winter storm warning !! It was the perfect night for me to make my favorite Scottish dish of all time CULLEN SKINK, and continue to binge watch Outlander !

Can't understand why they haven't taken up your idea with you two. not everyone starts out being famous but you already have a following and we in Australia appreciate and enjoy your videos. You should come to Western Australia. there is a Scottish Criterium and Celebration in a suburb of Perth whichis worth a look. besides the bike race there is Highland Dancing competitions and Games. Another place worth visiting is the Caledonian Club in Kalgoorlie. which is a mining town. the history alone is worth a visit, but they keep up the Scottish traditions. I learnt everything I know through that club and I have to say it was a fun way to grow up being proud of my heritage. Thankyou Shaun, for your videos. I never would have been able to get up that 'hill', especially in that freezing wind, but you both looked as if you were enjoying yourselves. Cheers. xx
This is kind of off topic, but, years ago, a friend of mine married a Scotsman. Their wedding was very Scottish, bagpipes, kilts, the food, etc. At the reception, I asked Niall, her husband, "What does a Scotsman wear under his kilt?" Niall looked me and, said with no expression, "Anything he wants." Love the Scots.
The classic answer is “his pride.”
Yeah, it's not like he hadn't been asked that question a million times before.
And what would you have done if he just said " Ask your Mother."

As I already said, I fell in love with Scotland since I was 14, (a long time ago !!) thank tou for your vidéos... I wish I will be back there...And you know what? I've just begun to study Scottish gaelic, which is a wonderful language, by the way, and I discover, since I speak german too it is a great help for the "ach" sound for example. This video was incredible! Te trek was a hoot as sell as breathtaking!! But when you showed the snow crystals swirling in the sunlight- that was God smiling on you for sharing his beautiful handiwork! Keep up the good work, word is getting around about your adventures!
My planned vacation to Scotland was canceled last year because of the pandemic. I have never been to your country and I am anxious to visit.
I wanted to head over this year but with the cootie turning into 'super cootie'..I have my doubts about them opening up to ppl.. especially from here..US...🙁
Very disappointing. It's a wonderful country. Find somewhere local to visit in the meantime. There are wonderful jewels around every corner!

Sassenach whiskey is only available in about 5 state or so. So lots of people are disappointed in not being able to get any.
I checked a couple of places and it's sold out in the U.S.
@@robinsmith5442 i think it has been sole out for a little while. From my understanding they only had a limited amount in the first place. So who ever could buy probably bought as much as they could. I know I was going to get more then one until I seen my state wasn't on the list of states.

You are so right. Watched it last night. It plays off of Outlander and gives Americans an idea of what Scotland is like in culture. But I wander how much of it is true verses marketing. I will be watching it again. There is no show like it and only half hour long.
Wow the scenery is so pretty. We had snow in Virginia till this past weekend now it's rain, freezing rain, and more rain. Local tip for you if Covid ever goes away and you can make it back over here don't visit Virginia January - March it's lovely any other time of year but currently we have gloomy skies, brown grass and it's rained so much the ground is saturated and well right now my yard is a muddy mess. It's pretty much like this every year.
If you ever do make it back over make it back over let me know and I can give you a tour of pretty much anywhere in Virginia, North and South Carolina, Tennessee, and West Virginia.

Ever since I was a little kid I wished I was Scottish. I’m American with no Scottish ancestry, but I always thought Scotland and the Scottish culture were so cool.

Pepin it may be the case that you do have an ancestry that has a small part of Scotch in you that is calling out to you. Every winter I know that my Viking side comes out!

I’m Australian and I recently did an ancestry DNA test and it came back that I was 72%Scottish,12%Irish,9% english/northwest Europe and 7%Norwegian.

I had the same thought- why would this show only be released to the US, first, while leaving - of all places - Scotland out? It’s all marketing and knowing that so many in the US will eat it right up, since there is such an Outlander fan base there... It’s like baking biscuits for company and smacking your kids’ hands when they reach for one. Makes no sense to me- if anything, it should premiere in Scotland *first*, if they gotta choose one, for Pete sake... Grumbling aside, I hope that you do get your own syndicated series one day. You do good work, and the content is fantastic.

I found Vintage roads great and small at my library and watched it with my mom. We thoroughly enjoyed it. It was the two actors from Creatures great and small driving around the UK.
You two are hysterical and the scenery was beautiful. If ever we get out of lockdown I want to visit Scotland so thank you for making these videos! And please don't climb any more frozen mountains that might possibly blow you clear out of Edinburghou. That looked brutal!

Im going to wait until Outlander is done filming, the season has all come out and then I will get Starz again and binge both.
I live in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia! We pride ourselves to have so many connections to Scotland. The high school up the road- The Glenvar Highlanders! Further up the road - the Radford University Highlanders! When theres no "'rona virus" around, we have an annual Highland Festival, complete with the games, music, food, crafts & clothing. And there are several more similar festivals within a few hours drive of Salem/Roanoke. You'll have to come visit, if you're ever on another autumn American tour- and theres so much more! (But you must bring Teka! We want to meet her, too!)

I have been trying to get to Scotland since 2019! DNA shows our relation to the Ross family and Balnagown Castle. With Gods blessings we will get there next April. Love your real life videos!
