Mario Party 5 - Full MiniGame Rankings

- Hello everybody, SlimKirby here, and it's time for another minigame ranking video, this time for Mario Party 5!
Even though Mario Party 4 went smaller than the largest N64 era game, Mario Party 5 most certainly went bigger, as we have a grand total of 77 minigames to rank this time, ranging from any minigame that you can play at the end-of-turn minigame, minigames that you play at certain spaces (Bowser & DK minigames) and of course, the duel games from this installment, which I'd say these are perhaps the most controversial duels in the series. On top of these minigames, I've also included the 2 sports minigames and the finale minigame of the Mario Party 5 story mode as well, since those are most commonly added to these lists as well.
As I mentioned last video, as usual, this list is purely my opinion, so we may not see eye-to-eye on some placements and how I ranked certain mini-games, and that is absolutely ok. Feel free to discuss your own changes or placements in the comments section below. Also, if you want to have some impact for the next ranking video, every Friday at around 2:00 PM EST, I play Mario Party on my Twitch channel and sometimes I do mini-game tier lists, which ultimately become these rankings. At the core, these videos will still be my personal opinion, but sometimes listening to some additional input will give me different things to think about which can in turn change some of these rankings around.
I think that's all I got to say, so let's get things moving with the Mario Party 5 Mini-Game Rankings!
Note: For those wondering about the thumbnail for this video, on Twitter I asked what 4 minigames come to mind when thinking about Mario Party 5, and those 4 games were the most common answers. Bowser's Bigger Blast was another popular answer, but didn't use it since I believe it was used in the MP2 thumbnail.

There really shouldn't be luck-based battle minigames. Imagine losing 50 coins and a CPU getting well over 100 coins all because you're that unlucky

As an early teenager (around when I started playing this game), I always loved the mini game Coney Island. I always guessed the flavors, and two of them would be lemon for the yellow, and lime for the green.
In this case, I should also mention that I have a personal policy that lemon and lime go very well together in many cases, and that includes ice cream, as what can be shown in Coney Island. Yummy!!
Yay love these videos. I KENW Get a Rope was gonna be lowest on the list. As someone who defends the Luck-based games more than most, definitely can't defend a few of these. As I said back with MP4, Bowser's Big Blast is easily the best because of the spectacle, and boy do a bunch of these not have that. I will be shocked if Pitifall isn't at the bottom for MP6.
Bowser's Big Blast is a luck-based mini-game done right! Get a Rope of course is a luck-based mini-game done wrong. And Pitifall is an even worse version of Get a Rope! Examples of luck-based done correctly right here!

Always happy to see these videos! I figured Get a Rope would be at the bottom. That is easily the stupidest and most poorly conceived luck based MP minigame ever created!
Totally saw Get A Rope being at the very bottom of the list. Anyways, great analysis as always!

Almost every minigame in the bottom 10 are luck-based minigames. This is the Mario Party when Nintendo started running out of ideas for minigames. There is so many luck-based minigames and button mashers in this game because the developers were lazy. I am not surprised that Get A Rope is at the very bottom of this list.

I couldn’t have agreed with you on the number one pick more if I tried. Hotel Goomba is a banger minigame that deserved to be brought back for _The Top 100_ - which makes it all the more astounding that it wasn’t brought back for _Superstars_ . Like, what the hell? I would have gone for it over Bill Blasters in a heartbeat.
But I digress. I look forward to the next minigame ranking video, especially with it being one for a game that many a _Mario Party_ fan considers the best of the series’ run on GameCube (if not the best game of the series, period)- _Mario Party 6_ ! 😊
Even though it's a luck based minigame, Scaldin Cauldron will always hold a special place in my heart. We'd play a version of this one in real life when I was little... just hide and seek except the seeker had to roar and pretend to be Bowser

Mathletes should have been lower than fight cards because you could get majorly screwed by getting no coins and your rivals getting 36 coins each
Mario Party 5 is one of my favorites with some of my favorite minigames, so it's crazy to see somebody think so differently (though agree with the number of luck games as annoying)
Vicious Vending should be the second worst. You just turn the control stick once and what you get is what you get. Everything is completely predetermined and there's nothing you can do about it. Fuck Vicious Vending! Also, Defuse or Lose is the best 2 vs. 2 mini-game in Mario Party 5! I want it remade in Mario Party Superstars. As well as Hotel Goomba! Such a classic.
Great video. One of my favorite Mario Party games. Part due to it I played it the most. Came out when I was 10
I have to say, I disagree with many low placements on here, though you do explain why well. Don't you also think some 1 v 3 minigames like Quilt for Speed and Curvy Curbs would've worked better as 2 v 2?

Yeah I think the reason they never brought Chomp Romp back is because they had no ideas for alternative courses, which is a shame because it is one of the few mini games from this game outside of the ones you ranked in top ten that deserve to come back in a compilation from this game. Unless they changed things up for some of them. Which is funny because they brought back the Chomp Call but not Chomp Romp.
I feel Lucky Lineup isn’t entirely luck based because if you get one, you can just time the others to the beat of the song to get the same one
