Mario Party 8 - Full MiniGame Rankings

- Hello everybody, SlimKirby here, and it's time for another minigame ranking video, this time for Mario Party 8!
Switching consoles once again to the Wii, Mario Party 8 does start with less minigames than it's last few predecessors, giving us only 73 minigames to look through this time, but it's still a rather large number and with the introduction to motion controls, that should surely stir up a talking point in regards to how well they are utilized for this game. These lists are definitely getting more and more difficult to rank efficiently because of these factors, so let's see how this turns out.
As I mentioned last video, as usual, this list is purely my opinion, so we may not see eye-to-eye on some placements and how I ranked certain mini-games, and that is absolutely ok. Feel free to discuss your own changes or placements in the comments section below. Also, if you want to have some impact for the next ranking video, every Friday at around 2:00 PM EST, I play Mario Party on my Twitch channel and sometimes I do mini-game tier lists, which ultimately become these rankings. At the core, these videos will still be my personal opinion, but sometimes listening to some additional input will give me different things to think about which can in turn change some of these rankings around.
I think that's all I got to say, so let's get things moving with the Mario Party 8 MiniGame Rankings!
Note: For those wondering about the thumbnail for this video, on Twitter I asked what 4 minigames come to mind when thinking about Mario Party 9 and those 4 games were the most common answers, and the soda-shaker "Shake it Up" was easily the most recognizable minigame associated with this title, followed by At the Chomp Wash, Flip the Chimp and Cut From The Team. Mosh-Pit Playroom and Cardiators were also very close runner-ups with 5th and 6th place respectively.

MP8 minigames and even boards is so special to me, i played it so many hours and it was so fun.
I'll always have nostalgia for this game as it was my first Wii game and I got it with the console for Christmas in 2007, but I definitely can't deny a lot of the minigames here are pretty weak LOL. Mario Party 8 is definitely one of those games that suffers from what I like to call the "early Wii effect", where they basically were doing everything in their power to emphasize the Wii motion controls and all the ways it can be utilized instead of actually trying to put forth a fun and intuitive gaming experience. And I think a lot of the minigames in this game suffer because of that.
That said, there still are certainly some gems in here, and for the most part I can't really argue much with your Top 10, as a lot of the minigames you have in there would probably also be in my Top 10 as well. I'll still always have an intense hatred for Flip the Chimp though, LOL.

I love Cardiators. While it isn't the game you want in a tight spot because it's luck based, if the AI are Dueling each other, Cardiators is the minigame I hope they pull the most, it's by far the most entertaining mini game in the whole series for me.
when i was a kid, i thoguht shake it up was the coolest and most fun game in the game tbh… i didn’t care it was simple it was just fun to do the shaking

I was a little skeptical on speedy graffiti being really low because I used to like that minigame. I say used to because half the time, the game doesn’t pick out my inputs(even when I use the strat)
Surprised to see my favorite minigame at #69. I can’t help enjoy how challenging it is

Why isnt flip the chimp in the bottom?
The worst part about Cut From The Team is that it forces you to cut the ropes that fling you even when all the good ropes are cut...
Therefore I'd put it as last place

I knew the 3 worst minigames were going to be luck-based minigames. I agree that You're The Bob-omb is worse than Cut From The Team. I also don't mind Flip The Chimp either. I am glad that Boo-ting Gallery is still your best minigame in Mario Party 8!
Flip The Chimp climbed the ranks pretty significantly from the worst just like Cheep Cheep Chase from Mario Party 3, except Flip The Chimp climbed even more significantly. Also this is the first game that a minigame other than a 4 player minigame to take the crown of his ranking list.
I feel like way too many people hate Flip The Chimp. I also personally think it is much better than most people make it out to be.
Never lost Thrash n Crash as the 3 lol.
King of the Thrill is a really cool minigame, but why on earth is this a 2v2 minigame? We’re all fighting tournament style and usually only one person survives anyway. There’s no teamwork either, why is this a 2v2?

@@Kevinn679 I just find it to be really fun. I’m actually one of the few people who will defend luck-based minigames, with a few exceptions of course. I understand why people hate them though, and completely respect that.
@@samisthebest6991 Some luck-based minigames are actually good because of the concept makes it very fun or original and also without luck it's a bit boring (ex: I like Merry-Go-Chomp [MP3] or 10 to Win [MP9]) but I think Cut from the Team sucks, crappy idea and it's just pain in the butt 😓

Mario Party 8 was not the last good one for a while. It was 9. Not to say it was bad… I grew up with 8

This is the last Mario Party 8 game franchise that is made by Hudson Soft just like Mario party 1-7 and ds. Mario Party 9, 10 and all the 3ds version is bad a-lot of people hates it there dice blocks is stupid too you can only roll up too 1-6 instead of 1-10 the boards of it is terrible as well the minigame is good still but i rather unlock it instead of where is already unlocked.
What do you mean flip the chimp is a good mini game and it’s not as bad as people say it is😡
to be fair, I never said it was a "good minigame" just better than what I think many (my past self included) give it credit for. I'd say "average at best" if anything.

I hate Mosh-Pit Playroom, its only slightly above Rudder Maddness for me in terms of entertainment.
