I get that this is a story that takes place in a made up universe, with a variety of superhumans and engaging characters that wouldn't really work in reality, but suspension of disbelief only goes so far when you go against the premise/continuity itself.

I love how amazingly written Harley is in here, the original Harley. She´s amazing and i like so much the reason why she left Jack in the first place, thats a nice way to draw the line.
Joker: You should’ve let me drown, I would’ve died a hero. Batman: I would never let that happen. Joker: What, not letting me die or be a hero? Batman: Pick one. That was a laugh.
Already, as Jack Napier, He's using Clayface, in people's drinks, to USE them against Batman! Who says this isn't a classic Joker-type scheme, from the get go?!
If his parents where 20 in 1945 the would be 45 by 1970 they might have had Bruce at that age more or less which would make Batman 50 but he is probably 52 because D.C
Jack is the Joker, just a heavily suppressed much more (or maybe less) sane version of him. Jack is still a super criminal; he mind controlled all of the villains in this story and caused plenty of chaos and destruction, just with different intentions. He was obviously not a by the books good guy, maybe kind of an anti-hero, but he was still trying to prove a point to Batman, so...that's pretty Joker-like. It's just that Joker is usually so in your face about not caring about human life and living for Batman's attention that Jack seemed sympathetic, especially when he proposed to Harley and thanked her for supporting him. That was beautiful.
Jack's a decent enough guy, and brilliant, but with little restraint, and a good dose of narcissism. The Joker is a maniac with a mind as twisted as a French horn yet it still plays beautifully. Where Jack will do whatever it takes, Joker will do whatever he wants, where Jack will claim to be a White Knight in contrast to the Dark Knight, The Joker doesn't even notice anyone other than himself and Batman. It's all there, the same personality, to start with, only with the bad traits turned up to 11 And amped with turbocrazy.
Yeah wtf. Jack in the beginning really did mind controlled everyone and didn't do things in honesty lol. In the end he was still joker and won as joker lol
I’d love to see this as animated two part movie. I love how all the batmobiles were shown from films and the tv shows. (Spoiler) I loved the twist with Jason Todd and Joker: He didn’t kill him. Joker broke Jason, and Jason was too ashamed to go back to Bruce-so he disappeared and was presumed dead, all because Joker wanted to know who Batman was.
I started crying when Jack and Harley (nearly) got married. I swear it would have been the perfect ending for them two. But then again... This isn't fairyland. It's Batman.
Him transforming to say "I do" was important on a few levels. On one, it shows that the Joker is still a part of him, and that Harely needs to understand that. On the other hand, it shows that the woman that is still better for the Joker and not Jack will be Neo. If you think about it, they are both the best partner for either Jack or the Joker. Harley for the true man that is Jack, and Neo for every other part of the man that is Joker. One loves him in spite of his flaws, while one loves him and every one of his flaws. Which is better? You decide. They're clearly both someone's version of perfect.
I felt really bad for Batman, and batman not being his calm, calculated person, it felt wrong. But Joker being good was a nice surprise, but at the cost of a villainized batman. It was hard, but all the while entertaining.
Yeah I'm shock. I was afraid how this would end but it was surprisingly well written. I was expecting the worst ending for Batman. Best case scenario would be to die for everyone to "Redeem" himself. But it was a good ending. Both sides in a way satisfied.
I think Joaquin’s joker performance was one of the more accurate ones. It shows his true backstory like none of the other films have. Comic to criminal mastermind. That movie also shows the problems with society when it comes to discussing mental illness so i really liked it.
I personally really like the scene where Jack transforms mid ceremony, only for Neo to smile as she hears this. The concept is cool and the final about the white knight of gotham felt really cool about the character, but honestly the Joker being forgiven that fast is a joke lol. Maybe if they adapt this, they can work it out like presenting Joker as even more divergent than just insanity so to sell the quick understanding better.
It would be interesting to see if Jason would be willing to accept this new sane version of Joker or if he would still try to kill him while Jack is constantly trying to apologize to him for the horrible things he’s done. It’s a real interesting idea
Me "Hey d.c? Does this effect continuity?" D.C. "Nope this is an alternative timeline" Me "Hey marvel does this effect continuity" Marvel "Conti what?"
This version of Joker is pretty amazing. I like to think that Jack was there deep down. Then Harley falls in love with this man under the joker. Not the horrifying murderer
so would Harley, but we all know thats not true. What is possible is Joker in manipulating her purposefully showed hints at a good person inside that she fell for and those fake bits were based on the man he once was.
One thing i wished they would make canon from this series is the two harleys bc i LOVE old school harley and i love the concept of the joker just SHS some poor rando into being harley when the OG runs away lol
Neo is hot! There's something about that super tight-fitting jester suit, spats, jacket, and the black tear line streaking down the face. She has a better tan than the real Harley, too. Who says clowns have to be pasty?
I've always really enjoyed this story because the joker is much smarter than Batman but his insanity hindered him from doing anything good/ productive with his intelligence. I also love the spin they did with batman because I've always felt he had the backstory of a really good villain but since Alfred was there he had the emotional support of a father figure he needed and that grounded him and gave him his principles of no killing and his thirst for justice instead of just revenge. It's an amazing story and the art style is top tier. And comicstorian is a real one for bringing those of us who didn't have comics or who are just getting into them these stories + narration.
It's never jail, it's always an asylum, and the only way you break out of an asylum is 1. if your psychiatrist says you're completely sane or 2. just normally breaking out like blowing up the walls and getting out.
Exactly why this is a what if story. Joker...well let's just say he would never regret his actions. The Batman here had already lost Robin. Though some interations still show him being in control. Though this story could work with Canon Batman if the villain turned White knight was a more symphathetic character or someone who hasn't dones the heinous crimes joker committed like riddler or even two face.
While I do feel he barely acts like Batman at all, it isn't without precedent. Ultimate Batman and Robin's version was... absolutely not a good person. He also was very easily arguably not Batman, either, even though that version was canon, at least for a time. Sortof. Kindof. Comics are confusing sometimes.
I got the same impression. He’s just too brutal and reckless, even for Batman. The real Batman would be more cool, calm, composed, and have a plan to reveal that Jack is still the joker at heart. He would focus on evidence and use his intelligence to make sure jack goes back to jail, instead of screaming at people that they’re blind. and he wouldn’t treat his comrades the way he does in this comic. This just isn’t in Batman’s character. Ig it is an alternate universe though so it’s not supposed to be his exact character. Actually, he kinda reminds me of the Batman from Batman vs superman
I have heard of this story line but does it ever go into how the Joker who in every iteration I am familiar with even in some of the kids cartoons who kills many people can just go free. I mean they even talked about him Killing a kid here ( I mean he didn't but the fact that was even a possibility shows he was just as ruthless as other iterations) so what if the beginning they proved police brutality, There is still a mountain of bodies, thefts, and destruction not to mention the numinous escapes from prison behind him; you don't just walk away free from all that.
It mentions how they could never get any evidence to tie the Joker to the murders, as they could never get fingerprints or whatever. Bit of a cop out considering Joker usually brags about his crimes but yeah.
Batman is a vigilante, he is not a cop so every time he caught the joker, he was hindering the police in their duty and all batmans evidence is worthless.
@@djsombreropictures4523 to a certain degree that's true but depending which stories are canon in this universe he should still be in prison for life. The Joker has been a show man with his crimes in a sense. There's been plenty of stories in comics and in a cartoons Universe where the Joker basically makes it public and flaunts his crimes also I guess I'm not sure if it's true in all districts but there is a run around when it comes to that kind of evidence. if the cops would have inevitably discovered it that it could still be a admissible again in some not sure in all districts.
@@djsombreropictures4523 again though there has been times where the Joker has been public he has gone on TV even and basically said he is released poisons and toxins that can kill people. I think both the movie and Batman the Animated Series used that. So if something even close to that was canon in the series there is no way around it
The “original” Batmobile in this Universe is just the 1989 Keaton-Mobile Talk about Fanservice but imagine if the Batmobile was just the original one and I mean the ORIGINAL ORIGINAL BATMOBILE Edit: OMG lol theirs also the Tumbler Mobile whats up with that Edit 2: Theirs also the 1941 Batmobile the Second one to be ever created
I guess in this alternate world the joker isnt a murderer, hasn't ordered his goons to attack people, and was just a playful prankster lmao. No way he would get off so easy, maybe batman deserves jail but freeing the joker is nuts. BUT, overall it was a nice story.
With all the legal research they say he did he probably got off on insanity. They threaten to arrest him so he only mentions the crime he did while he was somewhat lucid(stealing a scooter and driving around with Batman chasing him), because that’s all they could really charge him on since he’s legally rehabilitated.
I dont know if you’re serious or not but the joker held his own against batman multiple times. Batman is just a human after all, and didnt have his tools or anything. Just fists this time around.
so i'm doing a lot of art projects and love reading, and I was thinking, "it would be cool if comics were audiobooks somehow." thank you I honestly love this.
I see this as an awesome DC Animated Movie-if Mark Hamill does the voice of both Joker and Jack in it I'd die happy, and gotta have Kevin Conroy as Batman and maybe Hayden Walsh or Tara Strong as Harley, both Harleys
This was my first time sitting through a whole Full Story and this was one HELL OF A story!! It found a way to humanize The Joker even when the audience knew all the f'ed up stuff he did in the past. And the narration is 🔥
Oh my lord, THANK YOU. People complaining about character inconsistencies and how this story doesn’t make sense due to character history that doesn’t apply here!
Tell that to marvel..who have seemed to have forgotten about the concept of multi universes and just cram all their continuity changes into the real time line..
Like these "fans" understand that. Also it's sad that they have to use "Alternative Universe" as if there is a consistent Batman timeline could follow. Literally WUT!?!
This has to be definitively one of the best modern Batman stories written. It’s an extremely compelling narrative that totally flips what we know about Batman and the Joker on his head and fundamentally changes that classic story forever. I would love to see an adaptation of this someday
hey dc... can we get an animated movie based on this? or maybe even a 12 episode animated show? please? im begging. alot of things are better than that titan shit. this is one of them.
No, just the first and only one Bruce loved. The author went over it in a side comment. Dick gets his arms broken and has a drinking problem. HanaBarbara is a brown nose batgirl. Bruce doesn't love that.
This... has to be one of my favourite "End of Batman"-style comic series of all time. And with that I mean those kind of stories that show the end of Batman as we know him. He doesn't have to die or something like that, but it kinda finishes his tale a bit. Its hard to explain but maybe you get me. Now in my opinion, this story was amazing. The premise of turning the Joker sane, is (ironically) pretty crazy, so I get why people would say that this would NEVER happen a the end of Batman and Jokers rivalry and that one or both of them have to die for the madness to end. But as I watched this and thought about it I thought: "Isn't them dying the easy way out?". Even though this concept is pretty out of nowhere, it makes everything much more unpredictable and fun. Is he gonna stay as Jack or snap back into the Joker? Is he gonna die or live? What happens to Batman? Will he die? These questions make this really interesting and new. And for the most part, Jack is very likeable! Even more than Batman sometimes! All the other characters act different too because this situation is so strange and thats really interesting to me! Everyone has great character. Though that might come from the great dubbing as well. ;) The video is also well done! I especially love your Joker-voice! You make the emotional parts hit even more and the fights even more intense. Very good job! 😊
commissioner Bruce Waine code name the bat doesn't sound bad, it will be interesting especially considering the boost in technology that universe will have
@@headcannon5105 Nah it would mess with the dynamic of the Robins and canon Bruce would have probably never had another Robin. The only reason he had a Robin after Dick was cuz Dick turned out to be a really good person and it end up helping him a ton. He took Jason in with that hope and later allowed him to become Robin to help him cope with some stuff yet he ended up dead. After Jason Bruce straight refused to take another Robin and only accepted to do so cuz Tim forced his hand. In cannon if Jason comes first Dick never becomes Robin and Tim never figures out who Batman is as Dick is literally the only reason Tim figured it out.
Wow, the beginning banter between this Batman and the Joker sounds a great deal like what we got in "The Batman LEGO Movie". All that's missing is Batman stating they're not a couple...he likes to fight around. LMAOUIP
I creid when the part kicked in, where Alfred died. Just imagine this: Alfred always was there. He knew Bruce since his birth. If someone could make a really 100% true diary out of Bruce Wayne's life and the life of Batman (not even Bruce himself could do this, since he is kind of biased), then it's him: Alfred. Alfred saw the little child grow into a young boy, breaking and growing again and then after some centuries, Bruce broke and broke again, everytime he put on his costume. Jack as the Joker was right all along. Batman and he - the Joker - are very much the same: broken individuals.
Bruce Wayne is coping with mourning in worst possible way. Even in the best case scenario, he's paying the city to go punch and cripple poor people while wearing a gimp suit, kidnapping young orphans and putting them in danger, and motivating the schemes of crazy individuals by letting them commit crimes, foiling them by destroying public and private property (which he pays for, because he has fuck you money), and then locks them in a place where they can easily escape from, instead of a missile silo in Antarctica, the international space station or something, which he could completely afford, or at the very least put a pacemaker on them, so he can shock them unconscious if they escape or try to take it off. Even a shitty hospital has those, and can be modified (I have actually thought of putting that on repeat offenders. It'd make the police's work a lot easier). But no, on he goes, because otherwise he can't get off.
Gum Pasta *Stereotypical tour guide voice* Welcome to D.C. comics. Here we pride ourselves on dark, gritty and realistic comics, even when the main character has magical superpowers. At D.C. comics there are only 3 rules. Number 1: Superman never loses, and is allowed to break the laws of physics and nature ( I.E. hearing in the vacuum of space ). Number 2 : Batman must be portrayed as a perfect hero despite his obvious mental problems. And number 3: because we pride ourselves on realistic stories, no happy endings are allowed. This is to represent the fact that no one gets what they want, whether they deserve it or not. Thank you all for coming and have fun ( ironic I know ) at D.C. comics.
Hui Yi Chow Maybe but the instance I'm talking about was that one time Jimmy used a watch to call Superman, because it emits a high pitched sound only Superman can he hear. He heard it while he was light years away from Earth in the middle of space. So while it could be scientifically probably that he could hear in a man-made vacuum, it's also apparently possible that he can hear in space.
Ngl, I think the judge would probably throw out Mr . Napier’s case due to his previous insanity. Edit: After watching the video fully I found out he manipulated the justice system. That makes more sense.
Probaly not. They always say joker and batman are connected, like ying and yang. They say it a lot in the killing joke too. Espically when joker tells the batman a joke that represents their relationship

10:57 this is actually really nice, considering the original Harley was a therapist who fell in love with him while analyzing him
Jack is still like Joker…
They both are obsessed with Batman, trying to make a point to him…
Jack is the Joker, just a heavily suppressed much more (or maybe less) sane version of him.

Funny cause jack is supposed to be in jail for life over 50 times
Really Hot Ice technically... 49 now...
Judge-“For fuck sake he’s back? He’s just ganna get out again 1,000 damn years in a literal concrete hole”
Nope it's been 150 injail
No. Joker had lots of life sentences. Jack is a good man.
It's never jail, it's always an asylum, and the only way you break out of an asylum is 1. if your psychiatrist says you're completely sane or 2. just normally breaking out like blowing up the walls and getting out.
I feel like Batman is a little too much “un-Batman” in this storyline
Two words:
Alternate Universe

This... has to be one of my favourite "End of Batman"-style comic series of all time. Though that might come from the great dubbing as well. ;)
The video is also well done! I especially love your Joker-voice! You make the emotional parts hit even more and the fights even more intense. Very good job! 😊

I creid when the part kicked in, where Alfred died. Just imagine this:
Alfred always was there.
All it takes is one bad day.
Haggysack2k8 myotismon
Which would make the Batman Who Laughs.

Thank you all for coming and have fun ( ironic I know ) at D.C. comics.
Lorie Autry Superman might be able to hear in a vacuum, that is if the vacuum is man made, since we are not able to make a perfect vacuum yet.
Hui Yi Chow Maybe but the instance I'm talking about was that one time Jimmy used a watch to call Superman, because it emits a high pitched sound only Superman can he hear. He heard it while he was light years away from Earth in the middle of space. I guess wonder women will be the only good movie they make lol
DC is trying to be both the MCU and the Dark Knight trilogy without understanding what made either of those good, or that they aren't compatible.
Actually conclude the Joker as a character and make Bats reveal his identity? No DC would never allow it in mainstream, it makes too much sense.
Brady Weed that’s what I was gonna say
Gotta love the way he does Joker's laugh...
Agreed
It is perfect
MrOddmann
I know, right?
Mark Hamill would be proud
Anyone else notice that at 8:34 jacks shadow still looks like the joker, with it smiling and everything.
I saw it too
I noticed that too
Wow I did not notice that lol
That's actually really cool. Thanks for pointing it out.
all his shadows are like that
JJJ would be proud from another universe with jack stopping vigilantes
