It all depends on the type of polish. I am wearing non-chip gel polish so it is totally okay. Having said this, you are right, someone working in a more formal setting such a hotel, may have to wear gloves, in addition to non-chip polish. This is not the case for myself, and for many other women in Kenya or somewhere in the world, wearing non-chip polish and making mahamri for their families.

I think with painted nails one should try and use gloves since the paint could get off into the mixture without ones knowledge.
