    After I realized the setting up for the midi channels on the Digitakt to control the Digitone channels should be done for every single pattern I use in a project, it works like a charm. Excellent tutorial Daniel!👏

    If you set DN auto channel to 11 then DT mid A to 11 you have full control of DN but only using 1 midi channel.

    Hey great video, I have a comparable setup just that I am sending Midi from the DT to the Keystep before I send the Midi Out back to the DT. This is because I want the clock of the DT in my Keystep to be able to use the Arpeggiator for playing melodies. In your setup you can't use the sequencer or you have to adjust the clock manually to the DT tempo right?

    I wonder if adding the new Syntakt to the setup and having 3 Elektron machines + an Arturia Keystep would allow this same kind of control of all the tracks (8 on DT + 4 on DN + 12 on ST) from the Keystep.

      1. do you think it's a good idea to record vocals on digitakt? like verse, chorus, etc.
      2. if I make a song with a synth in addition to the digitakt is there a way I can copy the sample in an easy way to the digitakt or must I always carry the synth alongside the digitakt to hear the song? like.. maybe there's a convert midi to samples button somewhere? :P

    • @SlowHaste

      @@ShaiUI You can record any audio as a sample, but if you’re putting a whole vocal part on a pattern, it would take up a lot of storage space, so you likely wouldn’t be able to do it for multiple projects. The same answer kind of applies to your other question - you could record the synth as a separate sample track to re-sample. But otherwise it’s probably more efficient to sequence it with the Digitakt.

    • @SlowHaste

      My pleasure! You can absolutely still use all 8 voices of the Digitone, as the sequencers are linked, but are still programmed independently. You can also hit “play” on the Digitone to run that sequence independently from the Digitakt.

      I figured out a workaround. Tedious but not terrible. Create drums with Digitakt. Then when it comes time to create melodies w/ Digitone, swap the midi settings and swap the midi cable. Make Digitone the master. Work on that for awhile. Wanna make DT adjustments? Swap again, etc. That will fully utilize the sequencing abilities of both devices without having to input notes into Digitone one tedious manual note at a time a la Ivan Tryti…whose work is incredible, of course. Just not my input style, as a keyboard player.

    1. After setting up my Digis, channel 9 (Midi A) is also triggering the kick drum on channel 1. Is there something in settings I need to turn off in the menu to avoid channel 1 being triggered?
    2. Also, I have a TD3 I'm trying to send the clock from my Digitakt to. I have the IN of the TD3 connected to the MIDI THRU on my Digitakt since the MIDI OUT is already connected to my Digitone. I have the TD3 on MIDI E and set to the same midi channel on both Digitakt and TD3 but I'm not able to get the clock to sync.

    • @SlowHaste
      @SlowHaste  2 роки тому

      Good questions - regarding the TD3, tbh I’m not totally sure as I don’t have any experience with syncing external devices (aside from the DN, which is relatively more straightforward).
      I actually ran into the double trigger issue the first time I set it up and I cannot remember what I did to get it to go away! When you press the 9 key on the DT, does it play the corresponding synth on the DN? It could have something to do with your autochannel setting if a keystep key press is playing both notes at the same time.. but for some reason I thought that was only possible if utilizing MIDI thru.
      Sorry, as I didn’t really provide a solution and potentially just made things more confusing 😂

      > After setting up my Digis, channel 9 (Midi A) is also triggering the kick drum on channel 1.
      I think that's because track A is set to MIDI channel 1, which by default is received by both track 1 on the DN (which you want) and track 1 on the DT (the kick, which you don't want). The fix is to go into the MIDI channel settings on the DT and change track 1's MIDI channel from 1 to off (or some other channel than 1 to 4).
