I've seen others use circular drill blades for the corners, then a jigsaw to cut the rest. I value your tutorials, so what is your opinion on that process?
Good question - that would certainly work, but I'm not sure it would be easier than just using the jigsaw to cut the corners as well. If you already have a hole saw the correct size great, but if not then its another tool you have to buy when you could just use the jigsaw. As long as you are using the right blade, a thin metal cutting blade with teeth between 24-36 TPI, the jigsaw cuts through the corners pretty smoothly.
@MoserMakes I already have a full set of round blades. I have a former wheelchair van with windows all the way around but I will need to cut a hole for my Maxxair. I also want to put a skylight over my bed so I can star gaze. I might try both methods and report back. Thanks for the info. Your videos are a huge help to me. Thank you for making everything easy to understand so build newbies like me feel more confident.
There is a small channel that the screws go into. The channel is located just inward from the outer edge of the window. So it isn't pre-drilled in specific places but there is a specific slot for the screws along the whole edge. The trim-ring has holes for the screws and these line up over the channel on the window itself. Hopefully that doesn't sound more complicated than it is. Adding the screws is pretty straightforward since you aren't drilling into the metal, just tightening the screw into the channel in the metal frame and it all aligns pretty easily.
This is the best window install tutorial I have seen. With this information I know I can do it myself.
Glad it helped!
Excellent videos, you are always so precise and detailed on your videos. Thank you.
Thank you very much!

Happy to hear that!
Mad skills Sam 👍 Aloha from HAWAII

Sam, is the frame pre-dimpled, or pre-drilled for those screws? Or are they self tapping? The concept of a wandering screw kind of scares me.
