    Wow serendipity at work, always amazing. Here is my story....we had a rocking chair as a kid growing up, that my mom used to rock all the babies as they came along (big family). It was a handcrafted special chair, but somehow got sold eventually in a garage sale, in the midwest, where we were located. Fast forward 25 years, and I was on a trip to Hawaii to visit friends who lived there. We went to a local rummage sale in the neighborhood, and I saw a rocker that looked like that same chair. I turned it over, and sure enough, there was our family name carved in the bottom as it had bee, all those years before. I was just speechless. Then a few days later, we went to the beach at Waikiki and spread our towels on the sand. I sat down and looked next to us, and there sat a good friend from grade school who I had lost track of after 6th grade. Two unbelievable things happened in one faraway trip! Enjoy your new-found business and stay as busy as you choose to be.

    I have used a Bosch 2.5 gallon water heater off a Renogy 2k inverter/charger for several years now. Just watch the maximum amp draw rating for the battery or bank. The only downside I see is draining the unit when the vehicle will be below freezing and not occupied. They also make a 4 gallon version that isn't that much larger in footprint that does a better job supporting a shower and has the same amp draw. A 10-20 min timer switch makes for an easy heating cycle. It does help to have the dc-dc charger going at the same time. I find the unit pulls about 140 amps so the 40 amp offset from the vehicle helps with stress on the components and keeps the battery higher in charge.

    That is an amazing coincidence that you happened upon your Cheetah like that! I had something similar happen to me one time in my life. A friend of the family made jean jackets--each covered in travel patches--for my brother and me when we were about 7 & 6 respectively. We lived in Southern California at the time. When we outgrew them, they were donated to Good Will. When I was married with a son of my own, In the Army and stationed in El Paso, we visited a thrift store, and I saw a jean jacket exactly like those we had as kids. I told my wife the story, and said that I had always thought they were custom made. I was doubting that at the moment, until I looked inside. It had my brother's first name written inside the collar. My son was a baby at the time, and money was tight, so, regrettably, I didn't buy it. I always wish that I had though.
    I love to see the high quality craftsmanship that goes into each of your builds, George. You and your team do amazing work!

    Hello, George, I Wonder if theese connections will Survive a Crash Test . I used to take the Universal Connector from a Company Cold item, German Brand. Especially in Case of Tension Forces, they seem to be much more Durable, then the elbows and T. But yes, it’s much more effort to build with them

    When you mentioned it takes you 14 months to complete a build, my 1st thought was: half the new van warrany down the drain. Not quite, but you get the point.
    So what takes so long George? Supply chain? Skilled workers? Design?
    Design: I thought about my van build experience. My, 3500 XD, extended took ~7 months to build during the height of COVID (wood, not 80/20). But the design started even before I took delivery of the chassis and took a total of about 6 to 7 months but, most not on the builder's time. So 14 months starts to make more sense. So George, is design the big time consumer?

    • @HumbleRoad
      @HumbleRoad  11 місяців тому +3

      One thing you haven’t considered is that we build 3 to 4 of these large custom vans within that 14 month.

    • @asnormal1362
      @asnormal1362 11 місяців тому

      Think about it . . . your van doesn't have any wear 'n tear while in the HR shop. A warranty is for repairs/replacements for parts that break/malfunction. It only has value when you use it, so unless manufacturer defects show up once you're on the road, you likely won't need to use that limited factory warranty during its effective period. That's a good thing.. Of course it wouldn't make sense to plan the build to start AFTER the expiration of the warranty. You're not missing out on 14 mos of van life either as it's not a camper van until the build is completed anyway. If you're still concerned, there's always the option for the extended warranty at the time of purchase (the path I chose was the 7 yr warranty). In short, the warranty counts down the same whether the van is in your driveway or the HR shop. Does that make sense?

    • @HumbleRoad
      @HumbleRoad  11 місяців тому

      We do a good job tightening, and we use Loctite. I’ve got many vans out in the wild right now and they come back for an annual examination. None of them have any evidence of shaking loose.

    • @HumbleRoad
      @HumbleRoad  11 місяців тому +2

      There’s nothing deceptive about it. I keep the prices between my clients and myself to respect their privacy. If you are genuinely interested in a build, you simply contact me and we can begin a discussion.

    • @jeffj9791
      @jeffj9791 11 місяців тому +1

      You can easily publish your base prices and option prices like most places do and that has nothing to do with peoples privacy. Listing base prices and option prices on your website does not disclose customer names, what they ordered etc. George I believe you are professional, hard working person. You are transparent on a lot of things such as your youtube videos show. In the end you not disclosing your base prices, option prices is your decision not customer privacy.

    • @asnormal1362
      @asnormal1362 11 місяців тому +2

      Keep in mind that Humble Road is not a factory conversion shop (like MB Interstate Airstream for example). It is a customization shop. Prices vary per build. I appreciate your opinion but ultimately as adults, we all are responsible for only ourselves. What George does is exactly what he 'should' do, which is choosing what he feels is best. That may not be what you would 'like' him to do. As one of his customers, I appreciated George's approach when pricing out my build with him. JMHO.
