    I've lived here for over 8 years and love Nepal. I call it my retirement home. One thing to consider when you want a donut is that they are made in the afternoon so they can be stale by the next morning. Also, they use unwashed hands, so donuts are best eaten in the afternoon when you can see them cooking in the oil. You also need to take care that the oil was still good. They use the oil until it's rancid and not healthy. 25% of tourists get the Kathmandu Kwik-Step, so be careful with the tea, as well. They use tap water and just bring it to a boil for a short few seconds, so it can be scary, too.
    So glad you guys enjoyed Nepal. I highly recommend Nepal.

    • @SallyAndEd
      @SallyAndEd  5 років тому +1

      Oh wow, I had no idea about the donuts! Thats such a great tip. We definitely should have been eating them in the afternoons then. I noticed that about the oil as well. A few years working in the local chippy taught me to know the age of the oil by its colour!

    Ik I am late but I hope this is helpful for anyone who is planning to visit Kathmandu.
    Never buy goods from tourism places such as Thamel, New Road etc. The goods are quite expensive. But some things can be found there only so make sure you ask locals that are not from those places.( people who sell goods on road around jamal area)
    Second: For the food, try go look for small alley, there can be gems.
    Third: If you are in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur or Lalitpur, Newari and thakali food is a must. So try to have that. And Choila is a must have.
    Fourth: You can bargain the price of any goods (except the food) so try to bargain. It can be clothes, rent of hotel you're staying if it ain't the expensive ones, cost of taxi's and other things.
    Fifth: Try to visit museum to know the history of Nepal. I suggest the one at durbar marg. You will know the royal history of Nepal( if I have to be specific: The Queen's murder case where the whole royal family was murdered in 2001)

    Great video and I liked your positive approach in describing Kathmandu/ Thamel as sometimes it can be a challenging city. You mentioned that Raj was very helpful. The people of Nepal are always warm, gracious and willing to assist. I’ve been to Nepal many times, not only to Kathmandu but also to the remotest areas in the far west where I work as a volunteer physician. This is how Nepalese people are, always genuinely hospitable and helpful. 🇳🇵🇳🇵🇳🇵🇳🇵🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹

    Hi, Can you please tell me if you needed a permit for your drone, or if you could just use it? Thanks!

    • @SallyAndEd
      @SallyAndEd  5 років тому +1

      Ok so I actually tried to get a permit. Like tried really really hard.. but at the time they referred you to state media and they wanted $5000 per flight. Someone at the organisation said as long as it's for personal memories and you're being safe that you should be right. There are a few signs around though that say no fly zones.

    • @homeschoolpicknmix
      @homeschoolpicknmix 5 років тому

      @@SallyAndEd Thank you! I really appreciate that! Were the no fly zones in the city or just around the airport/ government buildings etc?

    • @SallyAndEd
      @SallyAndEd  5 років тому +1

      I'm not sure to be honest. Govt buildings / airport and anywhere theres a sign obviously not.. but I wasn't able to find an actual map / app or any information about no fly zones. I tried not to fly too high and not over people. I think as long as you're being safe you should be ok.
