Ive been a licensed manicurist since 2002 & trust me, im ALWAYS learning, DIY'ing and testing stuff out. especially on a budget! Since i don't do it full time and trends are always changing, its a constant learning curve. And just a little secret 😉a lot of the "expensive" products are the same cheaper products, just white labeled. Not all, but more than many people realize. I am getting ready to launch my press on business and have learned more about all this in the last year than i have the last 20. Keep going, you're doing great! If doing the crinkle under the nail brothers you because of the texture, you can do it on top and encapsulate it with your gelly polish then a thicker top coat. It helps add more depth, dimension & strength too!
Thank you and thank you for the tip of doing on top and encapsulating it! I will definitely try that out of curiosity. Good to know about the products too!! Are there brands that you would say are always worth it though?
If the stickers still lift after wiping the nails down, add a thin coat of primer, then topcoat one at a time sometimes helps. These turned out amazing!
I've been doing gel nails for 2 years now. If i showed you how it looked when starting out It'd be hilarious. Now I'm constantly being asked who does my nails 😊 it takes a heck of a lot of practice to do anything well, of course. I'm interested in how you progress, so +1 subscriber ❤
Nail tech here and as other have said in the comments, yes please make sure you wipe the nails with alcohol to get the sticky/tacky layer off before applying the stickers you did amazing these are super cute
Oeh I have a good hack for those stickers. Put a extremely thin layer of basecoat on the sticker and wrap a piece of clingfilm around (smoothly, no creases), than cure. It'll smooth out any edges. You don't even need a full cure, 10-20 seconds will do
Stickers don't like the sticky layer for gel polish. Next time you use stickers, try putting a very small drop of gel rhinestone glue in the spot where you want the sticker. Not only will it freeze the sticker in place after you cure it, the glue will also act as a slip layer to allow you to move the sticker to the exact position you want on the nail. This is great when working with your non-dominate hand that always seems to get stickers stuck in the wrong place. Also, there are a lot of gel glues that are No Wipe, so using them to make your ice effect won't leave a sticky layer behind. Try to avoid putting top coats over the ice effect so it won't take away from the peaks. If you feel you need to, apply some Chrome Powder before top coating to maximize the effect.
You did great! They look beautiful!!! ❤ I agree that you should wipe the nails down with alcohol to have a clean surface for the stickers to adhere to. Also, you need to make sue to wipe off the under side of your nails where you made the icicle effect so that it isn’t sticky… wouldn’t want anything getting stuck up underneath there!
This is my first time watching your videos. Very nice!!! I started doing my nails in 2020 when Covid hit. I’m so obsessed with anything nails😂😂😂. My poor husband’s going to have to buy me a she shed for all of my nail stuff 😂😂😂. Have fun with everything you do 🌹. Happy holidays to you 🌹🌹🌹😊
Hi, I think the problem with the stickers is that you need to wipe the tacky layer off with nail cleanser or rubbing alcohol before applying stickers or they will not adhere correctly. Hope this helps and I thought you did an excellent job!!! ❤
I have the same problem with getting polish on my cuticles. What I started doing and work wonders is using a thin detail brush to get as close to the cuticle without touching it. Hope this helps
Oooh that’s such a good idea! I had someone suggest trying the icicle method on top rather than underneath and I’m going to do that with a sparkly top coat now 😁 thanks for the suggestion!! 💖
I used cuticle cutters to trim away any excess glue but next time I would be more careful not to get it so close to the tip of my finger. And I just use alcohol to get rid of the sticky layer. Thanks for leaving a comment! 💖
I love it but I wonder doesn’t the gel bother you under the nail ? With stuff like food sticking to it and so on ? I clean my nails with a brush after I eat or before I cook etc! Any tips do you put a top coat after so it’s not sticky? I’m also a beginner ❤
Honestly, these were “just for fun”nails for me! I applied them using nail glue stickers so I only wore them for an evening and then I easily removed them. I don’t know if I could wear them for longer than that 😅 But yes, I did use alcohol to remove the sticky layer. Thanks for leaving a comment! 💖
@ ohh ok 🤣 makes sense! I couldn’t do it either with gel under my nails! Thanks for the tips on using nail stickers and alcohol 🙂 they looked very cute! 🥰
Beautiful design ❤ although too many chemicals and curing steps. I have stopped using all gel, glue and others. I’m a natural girl now. But for those who like doing all of these, she is a good teacher and did a good job for being a beginner.
@@pop_and_polish_nailart not only don't I, but I also work in a food plant. Unless you want to get nail polish or fake nails, lashes and jewelry in your food, I can't do anything! And I don't even work on the lines, I work in maintenance as a buyer. So I'm no where near the food or lines unless I need to be.
@@amystreasuresdesignlol well don’t understand why you’d bother leaving a negative comment on my video but engagement is engagement and helps my video so thanks!!!
If you wipe the nail down with alcohol before applying the stickers, they will stick better. Cute nails!
That is SO helpful!!!! Thank you for sharing I will most definitely do that next time 🩷🩷🩷

Very gorgeous! I don't do gel polish, but I'm trying to formulate a way to do it w/ regular polish after watching this.
Oooh! I’d be sooo curious to see how this trend would turn out with regular polish. Good luck!!
I paint my nails before sticking them on, that way my hand/nails are not going under the UV lamp. Your icicle nails are coool xx
Thank you!! And great tip! 😊

I love how Google listens! I told my boyfriend 15 minutes ago I was going to do icicle nails and here you are! These turned out great!

Just make sure to use alcohol on your cleanup brush rather than acetone. Acetone spreads the gel around
I didn’t know that! Thank you for this important tip😅 much appreciated!!
I like the 2 coats of white better, it's like an icicle hanging out of the snow
I agree! The two coats definitely gives a more snowy vibe ❄️ Thanks leaving a comment! 💖

Such a good tip! I just tried this and it helped so much 😊
Not bad, I kinda liked it better without any kind of polish. I probably would have just put a sparkly top coat so the ice has that extra razzle 😊
Oooh that’s such a good idea! I had someone suggest trying the icicle method on top rather than underneath and I’m going to do that with a sparkly top coat now 😁 thanks for the suggestion!! 💖
It’s ok. You need one layer of white for the ice, and the second layer for the snow.
I totally agree!
I think their cute nail polish WTG
Thank you! 💖
Super cute
Thank you! 😊
How did you fix the underside of the nail from ot touching your skin & removing the sticky layer
