  • The Chicago Bears are no longer focusing on moving to Arlington Heights as their next location according to Chicagobusiness.com.
The Bears bought Arlington Racetrack in Feb '23 for $197.2 million to develop a complete football village for The Chicago Bears.
    BUT!
It was announced Friday that Kevin Warren is shifting the teams focus to build their next stadium on the lakeshore where Soldier Field currently is.
Kevin Warren, who helped develop US Bank Stadium, home of the Minnesota Vikings, is helping lead the same project for the Chicago Bears.
US Bank Stadium is voted one of the best venues in the United States due to it's easy transpiration, football village, and Kevin Warren has a vision do the same in the City of Chicago for The Chicago Bears.

Chicago lakefront. Throw a pedway underneath with people movers connecting to the downtown pedway system (hotels, restaurants, bars, etc.) Make it a dome so it can be used year round. You need not look any further than Lucas Oil Stadium, there is ALWAYS something going on there, monster trucks, concerts, gun shows, car auctions, etc. The city will have to do their part by making it safer to travel there also using public transportation because driving in is an absolute nightmare. No way I'd take a train to Arlington Heights from NW Indiana. Extend it out onto the lake like they did Navy Pier using slag from the steel mills. BEAR DOWN

I work in Houston but am from Chicago and a huge Michigan fan. Did not go to the championship, or the Superbowl or the final 4 and it was all right here. I've had Bears, Bulls and Blackhawk season tickets. And love live sports. But 600 a ticket, and beers $18 bucks each. That is when I drew the line.

Not happy with crowds, crime, tax hikes... it is a mixed feeling for most residents. Already calling for meetings about them no longer being interested in the site now. I have had to deal with traffic from soldier field, like coming back from a Chicago fire game while there is a Taylor swift concert. But as someone in the NYC area that 15-20 minute walk was ok. I totally get it

The lake front view is all Soldier Field has. Sure it’s a cool view but there’s no nightlife, bars, entertainment, etc. that is a close walking distance away. Those are huge money opportunities by building those things around the stadium. So it’s still making money year round. Vs now where you have bears games, a few concerts, then the abysmal Chicago Fire, which they don’t even utilize the upper deck for most of the season.
Starting over in AH can give the Bears a new stadium, and various money making opportunities year round (bars/restaurants, living quarters, hotels, shopping, etc). Plus it’ll be easier to get to, which is appeasing to the suburbs, which is about 2/3 of the Chicago DMA if not more.
Sure you’re 30 miles outside Chicago but almost half of the league plays outside the city they represent so this isn’t some new thing.

As long as the bears can own the stadium, downtown would have to be the best destination. The city hasn’t been fair to the bears up to this point so I hope they can work something out. As far as the team is concerned, I’ve never been so confident with the direction of the team

People need to realize the most important thing in this whole process. With all due respect to Kevin Warren he's just a figure head. Kevin Warren is not making any decision or influencing in any way on where the new stadium will be built.
Billionaire owners/investors are making the decision. The Billionaires don't give a darn about the lake or Chicago or even Arlington Heights. They don't care what the fans want in regards to where the new stadium should go.
The Billionaires/Investors are looking at where do they maximize PROFITS. Where and what can they build that will maximize profits and get the biggest return on investment. Where can they build the new stadium/villiage that will increase the developed property value to its highest level.
I promise you the Bears owners have super human bean counters crunching numbers to get the biggest bang for their buck. Also people need to remember Virginia/McCaskey family own about 80% of the team. The other 20% is owned by two other Billionaire investors.
So the idea the Bears would build in the city in my opinion is rediculous. Arlington Heights is a very nice area, with money and central to the Northwest Cook County suburbs and close to the Northern Suburbs. (Freaking money). Also how many fans with actual money want to travel into the city or in city areas that are crime ridden and unsafe with their families? None. You cannot maximize profits by building again in the city.
    Last item to remember.
Virgina McCaskey lives in Des Plaines, IL about 10-15 minutes from Arlington Heights.

A: walking from Union Station is not bad; it's far better than driving in, navigating traffic in and out, trying to find a place to park. Hell, if you're planning on doing that it'll be your whole day anyways.
B: if it takes you more than 30 minutes to walk 2 miles unburdened, you got bigger problems than how you're going to get to a Bear's game.

They'd have to tear down Soldier Field and put in an underground parking garage there while building the new stadium next to it. That way that goofy "Friends of the Parks" outfit would have to accept it. It'd be the same footprint as far as one stadium and green space. Someone mentioned the old Meigs Field area and that is an idea that should be explored.

They need to make a decision and stick to it, they need to focus on their on-field product, it has to be embarrassing to be a Bears fan, unable to beat their rivals the Packers, last place in the Nfc North again, a quarterback who's literally the worst starting quarterback in the 4th quarter (even backups have performed better in the 4th than Fields), epic historic losses this season alone, time to focus more on being a respectable team over other distractions.
