I Have 2 of these Centennial records Somewhere... I Grew up playing this all the time, Now im a John Deere Collector & Restorer.... Absolutely Love this song
I recently found my copy of the 45rpm Record I received at the 1975 National FFA Convention in Kansas City. That was the theme song that year. Also the time I received my FFA American Farmer Degree. I always loved it
Wow! Thank you for sharing this. My Dad bought me the 7" vinyl record of this song back in 1975 when I was just four years old and infatuated with farming (grew up in rural Iowa). I remember the record, itself was John Deere green & yellow and I probably wore it out from playing it over & over. My parents probably still have it, somewhere. WOW! What an emotional flashback this brought. THANK YOU!!!
Glad you enjoyed it, its a rare gem. My grandpa from rural Iowa had a copy and recorded it onto cassette tape. I used to listen to it alot growing up on a Kansas farm in the 80s.
I knew the man who brought the copy rights to this song . The ironic thing able his name ,.. was that was McDonald . He was a farmer from New York state . The sad thing was that he and his father were not able to pay the bank what it wanted and so the farm was taken . He later in his life was able to become a salesman for farming supplies of John Deere and over time became one of the companies best sales person and why not? With a name like McDonald . It when perfectly with a farmers childhood song ,..".Old McDonald had a farm Ye Yi Ye Yo " .He said he was one of the best sales for the company and sold new an old tractors and accessories . He bought stock in the company and was always telling me about the profit he made . I never saw him without some clothing apparel that didn't have their label . He loved farming and he loved sales an the excellent product he was proud to represent . .
Thankyou
for all that you do from me to All of You
