    This is the ELO lineup at the time of this album Jeff Lynne ( Co -founder of the group, lead and rhythm guitar, lead and backing vocals producer) Bev Bevan (Co - founder of the group drums and percussion , Kelly Groucutt , bass , vocals and backing vocals , Richard Tandy , keyboards ) and they used 3 string players for some studio work but mainly for live shows Mik Kaminski , violin Melvin Gale and Hugh McDowell, cellos Yeah guys Jeff didn't exactly do it all by himself contrary to popular belief Jeff is from Birmingham England where the group originated any other questions about the group or Jeff please by all means ask me THE BIGGEST ELO FAN

    Jeff Lynne is in the Rock n Roll HOF , besides his great own groups of ELO and Traveling Wilburys he has produced the Beatles and individual solo music by Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Ringo , Tom Petty, Roy Orbison, Joe Walsh, Joe Cocker, Brian Adam's, Brian Wilson, Del Shannon, and many others...nobody is close to his mastery of all things musical. Such a gift to the world....we are all so lucky to be on earth while Jeff creates such incredible music...love the reactions fellas.

    Good call, Cosmo. Evil Woman was ELO’s first worldwide hit. Yep, Jeff can play all instruments, but in ELO’s original run, he focused on lead guitar and some keyboards, but who knows what else he snuck in from time to time. “Don’t Bring Me Down” and “Hold On Tight” were basically all-Jeff solo efforts.
    Big props have to go to Jeff’s second hand man, keyboardist Richard Tandy, who could play three keyboards at once on stage, and helped pioneer the classic ELO sound.
    Also, Jeff does have an excellent documentary called Mr. Blue Sky: The Story Of Jeff Lynne and ELO. It’s around online to watch.

    Jeff;s primarily a lead guitarist, but yes, you're right, he can play everything. The ''supergroup;'' The Traveling Wilburys consisted of Jeff, George Harrison, Roy Orbison, Bob Dylan and Tom Petty. They released two albums called volume one and volume three...And yep, they're the greatest ever supergroup, Check them out. As for Badfinger, a little band from Wales, my homeland, Paul wrote and produced their first hit , ''Come and get it.'' The pianist on this track is fellow band member, Richard Tandy. He's not well at the moment, but played piano on Jeff's recent tours.

    Hey guys, Jeff was in a band with: George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Jeff Lynne, Tom Petty and Roy Orbison. It was called The Traveling Wilburys. He was also in Ringo Starr And His All-star Band. And yeah, Jeff plays Guitar, Bass, Drums, and Keyboard as well as sings. Thanks for the belches, you scared my cats hahahaha

    Lots of good comments on here. I'm 59 yo and this is the song that got me into ELO. They're my favorite band all these years later still. Check out the doc/movie from 2012 "Mr. Blue Sky". It answers some other of your questions as well as contains Jeff and his pianist Richard Tandy playing some good ELO classics in Jeff's home Bungalow Place in the Hollywood Hills.

    I can remember hearing ELO the very first time on television watching a music award program I think right around 1973. They were playing rollover Beethoven. It's a little vague because it's 50 years ago for me. 1973 was the year before I graduated from high school and now I'm retired. It wasn't until this song came out in 1975 that my ears were really open to ELO and I was hooked.

    The group was The Teaveling Wilburys, and it was George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Tom Pettty, Jeff Lynne and Roy Orbison, that's quite a line up, you should listen to some George Harrison solo songs like My Sweet Lord, What is Life and All Things Must Pass

    The record company at the time was concerned that there weren't any hits on this album prior to release. Jeff sent the band out for lunch, sat down at the piano and came up with this....

      It was Jeff Lynne who wanted to add a radio-friendly banger to the album. The record company wasn’t involved in recording Evil Woman. The label took what Jeff gave them.

    ELO, live at Wembley Stadium performing Telephone Line is a must see!! Sometimes this performance gets blocked, so figure a way around that but even if u can't post it..just watch it. You will see why they are so great and why Jeff Lynn is a genius!

    The most amazing part of "Evil Woman" is that they almost finished the "Face the Music" album and they realized that they didn't really have what they regarded as a "single" on it yet SO, Jeff sent the rest of the band members off to a pub or football game and sat down and wrote "Evil Woman" in an afternoon!!!
    When they got back he had it ready for rehearsal and it turned out to be the biggest single they had up to that time.
    That's what you call genius.

    Hi again. Keep up the good reviews 👍 About those members off Elo we also, off course, find Mik Kaminski on violin(blue violin) and Mike Edwards/Hugh McDowell, both on cello. Those three was a big part, together with those other members of Elo, in their performance of their great music/songs during the 70's. During the beginning of the 80's Mik Kaminski was still a part of their live shows. Its also very cool/fantastic that Jeff Lynne still today doing tours around USA and also in Europe (Jeff Lynne's ELO). Its cool if you guys will check out those albums ELO released in the 80's, many good songs also there to review 👍 Elo for ever ❤️ Anders/Norway.

    Jeff Lynne is from Birmingham UK, he does now live in LA, to see how far ahead of their time ELO were, you really should check out 10358 Overture from 1971 it is great and helped to kick off the Glam Rock movement of the early 70's in the UK.

    • @Cosmo-Kramer
      @Cosmo-Kramer Рік тому

      Firstly, the name of the song is, "10538 Overture". (I'm sure your mistake was a typo.) But moreover, I don't see any connection between the song and the UK's Glam Rock movement. What are you basing this on that the song, "helped to kick off the movement"?

    The guy playing the piano is band member Richard Tandy.Been waiting for you guys to get back to the genius that is Jeff Lynne.5 months of withdrawal from your excitement and heartfelt love of good music.My suggestion for your next foray has probably been suggested many times,it is the entire second side of their 1977 album out of the blue.It is a 4 song concerto entitled Concerto for a rainy day.It is a masterpiece of music,the transistions between tracks is sublime.Please try not to leave it so long next time.Also a complete change,I've just discovered a group called Pentatonix...you really need to hear them.Start with their cover of Hallelujah,follow with their cover of the sound of silence,then try their Daft Punk Melody followed by their 90's dance medley.You will have your minds blown.All the best and keep rocking from the UK.

    • @Cosmo-Kramer
      @Cosmo-Kramer Рік тому

      They've already reacted to half of Concerto For A Rainy Day, so I don't think you're gonna get a reaction to the full thing. Besides, each of the four songs are also great when listened to individually. I've never agreed with those who feel it's an imperative to listen to the 4-song suite in its entirety.

    I know this wouldn’t be exactly the same thing but you can watch full ELO concerts on UA-cam. I saw Jeff Lynne’s ELO in Philadelphia twice 2015 and 2017 his voice was still in good form. It was so much fun to see so many younger fans there. 💜 My first ELO experience was the 1981 Philadelphia Time tour concert it still is my favorite concert ever. Jeff did Beatles tribute songs for the late John Lennon you can find that on UA-cam also! Unfortunately, Jeff is going to be 75 years old in December so his touring days may be over😢

    Hello Guys. Thanks for great reviews on those diff songs from Electric Light Orchestra. I have been an ELO fan since -79, back then i discover their spess music that was just incredible. I just wanna say that Jeff Lynne have done most of the writing and production of the songs, but the member's of the band ELO has a big influence on their success. Jeff Lynne plays many instruments, but basically he plays the guitar in their recording's and also the guitar on live performance. On piano and keyboard we find Jeff's right hand man Richard Tandy, on bass we have Kelly Groucutt, on drums Bev Bevan. And spess in the 70's this conductor called Louis Clark worked together with Jeff on the orchestra part by using strings and other instruments that already was and became a big part of their music. Then you guys know a bit more of the amazing music that has been brought to the world from the unique band called Electric Light Orchestra/ELO. Regards from Anders/Norway

    • @Cosmo-Kramer

      That beginning the Dad didn't recognize was not the end of the previous track, "Fire On High". It is part of, "Evil Woman", on the album (check the time durations of the two songs for proof). The reason he didn't recognize it is because he never had the album and that 16-second Intro was cut from the single version that got radio play, which is the only version he's heard.

    Xanadu sucked. LOL
    But that is because I am a HUGE Jeff Lynne fan.
    I have seen a lot of concerts, I worked security for the Dallas shows between 1988 and 1999. Best time of my life. I got paid to have front row seats and go backstage.
    I have never seen ELO. That is a show that I would LOVE to see. ❤️Jeff Lynne❤️
    We need Jeff Lynne to sing “All Over The World” to mark that the planet is safe, and it is time to love each other again. Live broadcast across the planet!!!

      Also, yes, Jeff Lynne is like Prince. He could play every instrument, so he never really worried about loading each member with as much as they could take, because he could step in and do it himself. He made the members of his band step up and be great.

    Mizzy & Meezy, thanks for reacting to my suggestion. To answer your question about the type of women Jeff Lynne pulled, all the ones I've seen have been attractive, and yes, one of them was famous: supermodel Rosie Vela. She actually sang backup on stage with him during his 2001 comeback special concert promoting his then-new Zoom album. And to your question about what Jeff's primary instrument is, that would be lead guitar. But yes, Jeff does play all instruments, and did so on one of his recent albums. He's a musical genius, no doubt. Next from ELO, I recommend you react to their 1979 classic, *"The Diary of Horace Wimp".* Please use the below link for the studio version off ELO's album, Discovery:

    a) he can play all instuments but on this album he was lead guitarists and leav vocalists. b) RIchard Tandy was the keyboard player c) the band he was in with George Harrison was Travelling Wilburys, also with Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison and Tom Petty d) George Harrison had nothing to do with this song, e) Grease was 1978, 3 years after this song, f) stopping the song so many times is really annoying.
