It's really weird seeing a school that is just stocked full of black belts. In my area, all of the schools usually only have one black belt, and he is the instructor.
MobiusCoin Actually MG school doesnt have many black belts in comparison to many of the other top teams.
Marcelo promoted a lot of his elite brown belts to back recently, so there are many more black belts here now than just half a year ago. They're all doing well on the competition scene too!

I have been in the martial art world since I was eight years old. I am almost 58 years old. I have only met three people I would trust to teach my children. Marcelo Garcia is one of them.
Too many people in the martial art world are just in it for the money or ego. I was lucky when I was eight years old I was trained in Judo for three years. You can never get that training today. The pure dedication of the man who trained me and my brother was unbelievable. My brother and I still talk of this man fifty years later. He was a marine stationed in Japan and came home to the USA to teach us. If you can find a good instructor in this day and age - good luck. BJJ is now too popular. The popularity is hurting BJJ. Unfortunately, Judo now has become too much like a sport. That is the way BJJ is going the self-defense gets less and less taught.
Marcelo is one of those guys who is insanely cool without even trying

Love Marcelo! BJJ is like any other aspect of your life. Keep it in balance but always put God and family first. I don't know how these guys are saying they're rolling 2x per day every day unless they are pro, then that is their job. For most this is for fun and health. Keep it safe, get enough rest and you can do it forever! Oss!
