- Vintage Hutchinson Paperbacks - Part 1 - Another Wartime Penguin Books Competitor
In today's video we take a look at the first half of my vintage Hutchinson paperback collection. These are the numbered volumes as published as part of the Hutchinson Pocket Library. Colourful and some with dust wrappers plus the added services editions make these great fun to collect, even if some of the authors are aren't that desirable. Enjoy!

Dennis Wheatley was so pleased with hammer's brilliant version of, the devil rides out, he gave Christopher lee a first addition of the novel
I didn't know that. It is a great movie!
Uncharted Seas (filmed by Hammer as Lost Continent) and They Found Atlantis are good Wheatley novels. Touches of Lovecraft to them and they are very readable, moving at a fair clip.
Absolutely, I've heard both are great reads.
Jules, what a great set of books. I also collect these and have quite a few that i really like. Crime Society and Jackdaws are cool, but so hard to find in nice condition and in jackets. I may do a video on these in the future. I would venture to say that between the two of us we might have a very good collection of these early pre-war UK pbs. Cheers!
You're right Gary. I'm looking forward to digging out the Jackdaws and Crime Society books for the second part of this video 🙂
@@JulesBurt looking forward to seeing those gems.
So enviable! Can you tell me how you acquired this collection?
Thanks, just picking up a few here and there over the years.🙂
Fun! How much do you think 6D would be worth today? It seems books were more affordable back then.
That was six old pence. £8.99 in today's money🙂
