Oh not only in 1979! :) She was probably one of the most beautiful and intense people for at least 2 decades, my favorite film is Bertolucci's THE CONFORMIST. But even in First Love opposite John Moulder Brown, she was incredible: her best performance for me was in 1900 and in The Inheritance (L'Eredita' Ferramonti,1976). I loved her and i felt grateful to be able to talk to her for so many years! She changed my life!

Reply 2) The film is a quite important affair: produced by Philippe Martin(he made also "Priceless" with Tatou and "Wild Target" among others)and Alain Sarde,was filmed in&around Midi-Pyrenees, and,in Paris, for 14 long weeks of shooting that started at the end of last August. Now the movie is in post production and Cannes seems already interested! The film a very delicate and insightful, moving, atmospheric comedy is called "Il est parti dimanche" and stars also the gorgeous Louise Bourgouin..

I have great news actually for you! Dominique is starring in a new high profile French movie, directed by Nicole Garcia (with whom she had originally to co-star in this film!) today one of the most recognizable and accomplished Film directors! Nicole convinced Dominique to go back on screen and on leading role, with the beauty and original, personal nature and insight of her script!

She's very beautiful (Uma Thurman has always reminded me of her) but not expressive enough an actress to have a very wide range. Maybe her impact is different for Europeans, but she's too placid and remote for me to carry an entire film.
Dominique is magnet and hypnotic like the devine Greta Garbo.
Of course Domiziano, I just wrote 1979 cause that's the year she played that Michel Deville movie, one of my favorite... Is it true you had a romance with her in the 90's? Si, vive en Argentina. Ha dejado Francia hace 8 años porque se ha enamorada de Argentina durante el rodaje del film de Cozarinsky "guerreros y cautivas" (nunca he logrado a ver ese film!). Tiene razon, Francia no merece a Dominique Sanda. Nunca ha tenido in Francia el estatus que merecia SU INCREIBLE TALENTO... Como se dice en frances "Nul n'est prophète en son pays"..Dominique ha dicho recientemente in una intervista en Francia "Non he desaparecido, son los otros que non estan donde vivo"
5)Of course there are many actors always "present", always working, but, for me, they also loose mystique after a while, especially when they "just work"! Dominique's retirement has certainly saddened many, but, now that she's returning and just because apparently the offer was really something you cannot turn down, everyone is talking about the myth Dominique Sanda coming back to screen, and, it's already generating an incredible curiosity in the International World of Cinema! I am sure this..
Oh well,now,everything can happen in films..It's well known, no? But,i know Dominique worked many days on this project&that her role was truly what "made" her come back to the screen&leave her husband&Argentina for a period of over 3 months!Don't believe Garcia&Fieschi(who's been also a great friend since the 1970's)would have called Dominique for a cameo like in "Les rivieres pourpres".I know she's got a key role, and,there aren't many roles in the film! I believe she'll be in it, poignantly!
4) There are times in someone's life when life becomes way more important than your Career, especially after so many years spent making films, maybe when you feel it's not worth working in something that is not worth of your work..maybe because you fall in love, and decide to give it a chance! It is so difficult, excruciating making movies, sometime i can see how you may feel it's not worth all the work and soul it takes in order to make them work, but that you just wanna take care of yourself..

I'm just afraid to see her 5 minutes in this film as that was in "les rivières pourpres". in her last film 12 years ago...
3) and he's introducing as a young lead Pierre Rochefort, the son Garcia (loved her film "Place Vendome" great director she is!) had with actor Jean Rochefort! The writer is the extraordinaire Jacques Fieschi (who also co-wrote Place Vendome, but also the great "Un core en Hiver"among many!)and great cinematographer Pierre Milion (of The Class,Heading South..) shot the film, that seems to be a very profound character's study.
