One Close Wild Horse Race - 2019 Miles City Bucking Horse Sale - 3rd Race

May 18, 2019 - The third of five races that were featured at the 2019 Miles City Bucking Horse Sale held annually in Miles City, Montana. Eight teams competed against each other and the clock in this race. Three man teams consist of an anchor, mugger, and rider. The anchor holds the rope, mugger holds the horse, and the rider saddles the horse, mounts, and rides all the way around the race track and back into the arena. This was a close race in more ways than one!

@@Ponylapse Killing? Abusing? I took this footage. I was there. I didn’t see any horses die. I didn’t see any abuse. I saw the struggle of a wild horse race in heavy moisture, where everyone involved was covered in mud. It was challenging and tiring for both human and equine contestants.

In this particular event, it’s helpful if at least two of the guys competing are pretty beefy. The anchor (the guy that holds the end of the rope) and the mugger (the guy that holds the horse’s head) need to be strong and confident, while the rider throws on his saddle and climbs aboard for the ride.
