16 year old here, mosh pits certainly still exist, but nowadays the youth align more with hip hop than rock, so at more wild and crazy artists like Playboi Carti’s shows the crowd goes absolutely wild like these shows from the 90’s, its not so much that moshing has died down it has just switched genres and that’s bound to happen in 20-30 years time

Then, it was just a song to listen to when it came on the radio. I didn't know the lyrics and based on the commercial it was in I thought it was a workout anthem of some kind. When I heard it I was like, wow I have to find it and the thing that stuck out the most was the voice. Long story short I found another song with him singing and then I found this song. The lyrics were sad as hell and nothing like what I thought. But a great song none the less and there is something about his voice that allows him to sing it the way it has to be sung.

when we were young the futures was so bright
the old neighborhood was so alive
and every kid on the whole damn street
was gonna make it big and not be beat
now the neighborhood is cracked and torn
The kids are growin up but their livs are worn
How Can 1 little street swallow so many alive?
    chance thrown
    nothing's free
    longin for..what used to be
    still it hard
    hard to see
    fragile lives
    shattered dreams
    GO!
Jenny had a chance, well she really did
instead she dropped out and had a couple of kids
Mark stays at home cuz he's got no job
He just plays guitar and smokes a lot of pot
    Jay commited suicide
    Branden ODed and died
What the hell is goin on?
    cruelest dreams reality
    chance thrown
    nothing's free

Back when a young man with honest vocal talent could listen to a live performance and realize he has an ability.
Now days with real time editing and pitch correction software, there is a modern day Pavarotti who thinks he fucking sucks, because he is comparing himself with a fake world of artificial perfection.
Just one of the MANY ways we allow technology to continue to take the human out of humanity.

well Dexter's a great studio singer, he just writes songs that are way too hard to pull off live because they're all right at the top of his range. He kinda shot himself in the foot in that regard, but it doesn't look like he's bothered!

I’m glad I saw them live just a month ago, and his voice was exactly like in the studio. You cannot judge by one video that you don’t know what might have happened there. It was the best concert of my life and they are now close to their 60s!
