- The first of a few videos to be shared with you all from my recent trip to the beautiful West coast island of Islay.
Hopefully this can help anybody preparing to fly VFR into Islay Airport and will certainly give you an idea of what to expect in terms of radios and arrival procedures on the day.

I am taking a Saratoga 4up for a night, want to try the famous X4 bruich laddick brew! The web says £20 landing fee now, seems reasonable? We will be coming from the south east so scenery looks stunning? How long and which hotel did you stay in?any tips?
Sorry I've only just seen this now Roger. Have you been yet?? We flew in and out in the day so can't help on the hotel front. Our landing fee and parking for the day was about £25 total so yeah really good value. Views are incredible. Do a lap of the island if you have time. Stuart
Thanks for that Stuart, I couldn't go all the way there and not try the local brew! So a stop over is a must. I read somewhere, on NATS site I think, Islay recommends a flight plan, did you file one? We only have a few days window in the third week of March, so fingers crossed. But if I can't take my girlfriends family there, I have a plane at a strip near Darlington, so sometime this summer. But hoping for a weather window in March!

Going there myself soon for the whiskey, did you go to Laphroaig or Bruich Laddick for some of the good stuff? And yes, take the phone off of her and tell her to enjoy the flight, didnt she know you had the go pro's running and making better vids than a phone!

Love the videos. I try to follow what you and the air controller are saying but the overlaid music makes it almost impossible.
