ABC'S 'TWO MARRIAGES' NOW A WEEKLY SERIES

AFTER a limited run a few months ago, ''Two Marriages'' returns to ABC tonight at 8 o'clock as a regular weekly series. Set in a small mid- America town that is still rural around the edges, this is a ''nice'' soap opera for all those people and groups who might object to the steamier aspects of the network's ''Dynasty'' or ''Hotel.'' Overflowing with middle-class values and morality lessons, ''Two Marriages'' is an updated version of ''Father Knows Best,'' mixed with several generous dashes of ''The Waltons.'' If nothing else, mother is now getting a bigger piece of the family action.

HOLY CRAP! PONYBOY CURTIS!
This was a finely written show, with grade a performances by a sensational cast. Louanne was fantastic as the introspective Shelby Armstrong, and C. Thomas Howell was fantastic as Scott. Not to mention a pre-Growing Pains Kirk Cameron as the mischievous Eric. With a cast like that, it should have lasted longer than it did. Also the setting of Des Moines, Iowa was excellent and it could have well been used far more.

It is a real surprise to find this show online. I looked it up but was sure I wouldn't find it. I totally remember when this was on TV and I recorded a few episodes on 2 VHS tapes. (Remember those)? One stopped working and I don't know what happened to the other. I as probably many other females, had a HUGE crush on C. Thomas Howell, AKA Tommy Howell. I thought he was the most adorable during this show. Thanks so much for posting.
You're Welcome, TonyHickschick ....I never knew until posting this video that C. Thomas Howell had such a huge fan base. I found this in a stack of vcr tapes I stored in the closet, I'm amazed the quality held up all these years, I recorded it when it first aired in 83.

I remember in 1983-1984 there were short lived 2 family dramas. On ABC there was this show Two Marriages which ran from August 1983-April 1984 and on NBC there was Family Tree with Anne Archer, Frank Converse and James Spader - that ran from January-February 1983 and was cancelled after 6 episodes.

This brings back memories. I had forgotten that I saw this series on local TV when I was a teenager living in Zimbabwe in the early eighties (probably '85) - seems amazingly distant now.

Because of the setting being in Iowa, most of the main action is set in Des Moines, while I think the suburban area they're on about is either West Des Moines or Urbandale. It looks like it.
