Princess Catherine and William are who they are thanks to the goodness Diana gave William, who shared that goodness with Catherine. William has done right by his mother.

I'd say Princess Catherine's parents helped Prince William also. Their a loving family who deeply care for their own children and Prince William they also guided him in the real world as it is today. Prince William will always do right by his mother no matter what imo.
