Amazing job Tyler! I feel really bad you felt like you were slowing us down. None of us felt like you were a "burden" at all! We all had our struggles - that is what makes Adventure riding so awesome! The trip would have been boring if it was smooth sailing. I am bummed you hurt your leg though:(
Also, you only showed your struggles. You forgot to mention that you ARE an awesome rider! We tackled some gnarly stuff! Let's get out and do it again!
Ya dude! We love you Tyler... you're so humble and kindhearted! Any ADV rider knows you can't expect smooth sailing. Sometimes you're hammer sometimes you're the nail. It just happened to be your turn to be the nail. That's why we ride in groups - to support each other!
Rocky Mountain ATV MC - you guys do realize that this type of video and how amazing you are in it to Tyler and the sport is what sets you apart, right?? I'll buy from any company with owners like you folks.
Dang, y’all got me kinda teared up...... these are the best videos. New subscriber and trying to get out more on my klr because of you Tyler. Recently conquered the rubicon trail!!!!!! Big thanks to you Tyler, these videos you make, and everybody you include in them.
You are right Tyler.... we dont always want to see pro riders showing us stuff we can never do.... we want inspiration to get out there and ride. You do it for us mate!
This is why I think you are so awesome, the humility, the passion, you are all of us! I get tired of some people with their arrogance in their skills but never from you! You are real, those people, 9 times out of 10 are the fakers! Loved it!!!
This is what I think most all of us enjoy, appreciate and respect about you and your videos Tyler. Honesty and the reality of who you are. We can all edit out lives to only show us in the best possible light, but at the end of the day we all have to look in the mirror and see the real us. The extra pounds, the forming lines of age creeping up on us, the scars of our less than graceful moments. It's life...real, sometimes harsh, embarrassing, painful but at the end of it all it makes another chapter for the story of our lives which we would never change. Thank you Tyler, for what you do for our community.
I know this was a hard one to do, but so important to share. For guys like me, who are just starting to get our toes wet, it's critical that we see what the really hard stuff is like. Good dose of reality.
The adventure doesn't start until everything goes wrong. And always tell your friends you are riding with if you are hurt. Friends don't leave anyone behind.
6:51 Wow, those desert colours, stunning. Such a shock to suddenly see them after the night ride footage, that red sand, blue sky and amazing green of the foliage. Great stuff eveRIDE, things like this are what make life worth living. These are the things that make memories.
The following quote is one of my favorites and seems apropos for this video. :) Keep the faith and keep on, keepin' on! "Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not: nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not: the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent." - Calvin Coolidge
Well said. So many channels only show the good stuff. We, like you, are passionate, show the good stuff to inspire people, but also show the real life side.
I like this series. It’s like watching the slow kid trying to do normal kid stuff. That’s how you learn... crazy trying this with that bike too. I was thinking of saving a few bucks but this has made it very clear. And how much physical health, strength, strength, strength, and endurance is needed in a goddamn desert. Thank you for showing this stuff. The diamond water question came to mind too. Got a drone, batteries... no water. I am glad you survived. Maybe you don’t realize how close to death you were. Fatigue causes loss of control - over the cliff. And being worried about how you look over safety. Of course those guys would rather you go slow and survive than truck your corse up a cliff and the hassle of it all. I’m glad you made it. Sincerely. Just please get a better bike and keep in shape with weight lifting before you do something like this again. Whatever we see on the camera, it is at least 10x worse. I know I would not be able to do this in my present shape, even with the best equipped. And you need to do it again. And conquer it like a pro next time. And your video editing is some of the best on UA-cam. It is very very good work. Thank you for taking the time to compose this all for us.
Tyler You made a 65 year old man cry. Watching your video's is like going to Church. It alway encourages me and brings me back to the most important thing in life of knowing one's self. I have to agree with a lot of the other coments on this post you did amazing keeping up with such pros. Thank you for what you do.
GOOSEBUMPS!!!!!! Because of watching that struggle and feeling EVERY fall and crash and embarrassment, that third half was one of the most exciting and inspirational things I remember ever watching. Seriously man, thank you!
That last half of the video was awesome. So inspirational and uplifting. Thank you for sharing your message and showing us your weakest moments and conquering them. You won't see it, but I guarantee someone out there is watching this and feeling a surge of inspiration and courage. Well done!
One of my favorite videos you've done. As that out of shape desk jockey who has had to bail on a ride before and who limped home from a solo adventure yesterday this is the kind of video that makes me a subscriber.
Your vulnerability makes you strong and is encouraging for me... Overcoming insecurity is the challenge. Thanks for being honest and real even when things are not that pleasant. It teaches us more, Tyler.
Everyone gets handed a slice of humble pie from time to time and it doesn't quite taste as good as other pies. Glad you knew when to brake because sometimes people let that ego get out of control. You're an awesome dude and I've been addicted to your video's because you demonstrate a competent skill level, passion, and sense of adventure that's attainable to someone like me.
Dude, you hit every note in this series. We don't watch, support, share and comment because you are an expert at anything --- we do so because you are one of us. Like you, most of us are weekday workers - weekend warriors (or wannabe's). You have a gift of communicating what we experience, at one time or another, plus you have the amazing southern Utah in your backyard to play in! Hope your injuries are healing, your outlook is encouraged and your spirit is seared with the desire to continue the adventure.
What an epic adventure. And the best part of it are you guys and your hearts. This is the best thing about adventure riding, no matter the skill, gender or profesion you are together as friends or more. Keep going !!!
Really impressed by the trip. I agree, it is not about being best, but about the journey to learning. I think that as long as you end the day with the kind of smile a kid has climbing a tree stealing apples, you are doing it right.
Mate - this video had three cups of everything, thrown into a blender, mashed up, and baked into a perfectly visually satisfying production. Sprinkled with some cinnamon, and presented on a plate of pristine silver. Given a voice over from above, and thus the video was born. Excellent stuff.
This video brought back feelings from my past rides where I was the slowest rider and had troubles, got slammed on the rocks, broke my bike and my spirit; and kept going. I'd forgotten the emotions that went with the rides, but the rides were epic. Thank you for this video. Inspirational!
I just today found this vid. This deep sand reminds me of the many days riding in deep North East snow. Spend enough time and miles in it and you eventually figure out how to ride in it. It is exhausting. But the difference with snow riding...it is usually cold. But still it makes you sweat. And we were riding 200 pound enduro bikes with. No extra weight. And tires...Full knobbies, with tungsten tire studs. In your case, there was a severe mis-match with your equipment vs. the trail. Either the wrong bike/load or picked the wrong trail. But still it boils down to operator error. Not because your riding skills are not up to the task. You are a very good rider. But next time choose equipment that matches the task. But you know all that now. You said so at the 16 minute mark. And that description was perfect. So now you have gained valuable experience. So you are an even better ADV rider. Your vids are superb. I know recently you broke your back on your KTM. Be patient in your healing process. Do rush that. Now is the time to be conservative. Sometimes slower is quicker. Best wishes.
Your passion absolutely is why i watch. Also the way you explain your weaknesses and your not afraid to tell other your shortcomings. I applaud you Sir. Your a hell of a guy. Thank you so much for what youve helped me with mentally.
Hey brother. Greetings from Australia. What a great two videos these were. Amazing country and scenery. Looking at your experience of this trip you could be forgiven for thinking this wasn't your trip. But it actually was because you were there. My wife and I are road riders down here and have done many day and weekend trips together on my bike. Not every trip went as planned and not every trip was without it's issues. But like you did on this one, we made the best of whatever situation were found ourselves in. We found a moment to enjoy and even have a laugh at how ridiculous it was that we are doing it this way instead of the comfort of our car. Like you said, we do it coz we enjoy it. It's our passion. And when we arrive home, freshen up and sit down to relax, we find ourselves saying "wow what a great weekend" and we begin to think about the next one... I love how real and humble you are in these 2 videos and your rolling commentary is a pleasure to listen to. Well done. Scoota.
Tyler I appreciate the humility you put into your video and the under dog feel you give. It inspires me the little guy with little to no experience to get up and get out there to try and see what happens.
Beautiful Tyler! Just Beautiful!!!! Nail hit on head dude. I have been there, dead tired, discouraged, unsure of myself and what the heck i was doing, but pushed on through the hardship. Character building, awesome memories and soon, the pain and bad memories fade and i do it all again! Keep up the great work! You Inspire us!!
Well said my friend. As I watched this I felt that we often have the same feelings in any profession that we chose, no matter how experienced we are. In the end, it is all about that adventure, maybe not the adventure of a motorcycle ride but more the ride of life in general. Thank you! I will be sharing this with several co-workers.
your the guy I watch after a day kicks in my teath and I want to diy, and today you brought tears to my eyes and made me field so much better. I love you so much thank you.
what a great 25 minutes that was! I would add to the "why we do this" list, for me it's to feel alive! to push myself to the next level and conquer the next hill! this is why I watch your stuff. keep up the hard work.
It is as the Swedish arctic adventurer Ola Skinnarmo would have said: There are two different types of adventurers: One who fights and suffers through the challenge and emerges as a mental wreck. The other type releases the final goal and finds harmony in the present. The latter kind of adventurers arrive in harmony and will also return one day. Everide You representant the adventurer that is trying to find the harmony in the moment whatever the challange. This is truly inspiering.
Aw man, poignant, touching and absolutely fantastic. You SOOO nailed why I watch your stuff over and over. You keep me going and motivated and inspired. Thank you!
When I ride with others I am usually the one everyone has to wait on and while they never complain I beat myself up over it. After the ride it isn't long before I am asked to join them again and that's what I think is so awesome about folks who ride off road. Ness told me something that I will never forget, your wuss factor keeps your ego in check. stay safe
Wonderful content Tyler. I’ve watched countless hours of your amazing adventures over the past few weeks. The best motorcycle channel for adventure riding on U tube. Rocky Mountain ADV company is awesome.
Without doubt The. BEST. video you have made to date Tyler. Amazing terrain, breakdowns, getoffs, get-back-on's, stunning vistas.....the list goes on. Thanks for doing what you do. Keep 'em comin'!!
We watch these videos for many reasons. Regardless of our individual reasons here is someone in the community who we can relate to, learn from and be inspired by. Epic vid dude! Such a long climax.
I've been watching your videos for a year and just came across this older series. Wow! This was one of the most meaningful vids yet for us regular guys. Thanks so much for your complete honesty and keeping it real. You reminded us all that the adventure isn't keeping the perfect plan, riding the perfect bike, or riding perfectly. It's all in your attitude towards adversity and having fun while doing it.
Awesome video! Tons of respect for digging deep when the whole world came down on your head. Those are the moments that temper your soul. Hope the body is mending.
Serious props Tyler. Sometimes the hardest thing in life isn't the trail we're on, but the ego between our ears. Also, at least for me, the reason I watch your videos is because it is real and can easily relate to situations where a trail you've conquered numerous time just jumps up and grabs hold of you with everything it has. Had a similar incident late last year where I washed out in a rut on gravel and snapped all but an inch of the clutch lever off. I had been on that trail numerous times before, but eventually had to call for assistance because I was riding solo and exhausted.
Another outstanding piece of work! I watch your videos for the EXACT reasons you you state in your moment of realization. I've had the same struggles on various rides over the years. With time I've improved my skills, equipment and probably most important, my attitude while encountering difficult situations that make just a ride an adventure. Your ability to capture and express what goes on during a ride like this and what's going on in your head is a gift. Thanks for doing what you do!
Brother.... Good preaching.! I totally related to two or three trips I've had that were similar... Hardship should be embraced... God teaches us through them... And the baddest of memories become the best lessons... and build faith.... Well done!
Totally feel for you bro. Yeah you can say you didn't have the right bike but with riding friends they don,t care they just want to help you every time. That,s the beauty of ADV riding with good people. You can never appreciate the good things in life until you have experienced the bad. It makes you a better person in the long run. Great video hope you keep it up. Marine Corps -- never leave a man behind!!
Life is a journey from one moment of humility to the next. Sometimes you feel like a pinball, unable to make a bit of progress without getting blindly smacked and bounced by some unexpected flipper. But, at the end of the run, you're better for it. Thanks for sharing, Tyler. Keep it coming and keep it honest. Steve
This was amazing to watch. I just bought a DR650 and I've really been learning alot from your videos. Don't stop making them and trust me we wont stop watching them.
I give it a year before you give your first ted talk as a motivational speaker. a motivational speaker, a guru of adversity, and a sage of being grateful for the lives were given. that is what you are.
Videos like this will go down in history.... just sayin Tyler.. been following you for a while... This one is true to the heart... and well done... Not just about dirt.....
Loved this! Loved the brutal honesty viewed by 35,752 people. Thanks for taking the time to document these adventures so when the weather is crappy outside, I can ride along in the most beautiful part of the country. Keep rollin' buddy!
That was just awesome. Loved the videography, the adventure and the commentary on life. Thank you so much for your fine work and making me smile and rethink my approach to life and adventure.
Fantastic Video EveRide!!!! I think most of us have been there on those days when you are the ONE having ALL the problems, but really it only seems that way internally. I think it is exactly as you demonstrate: have patience with those when it is their day to face Riding Trials n Tribulations. Comes down to living in the moment, but not letting a single bad moment not kill the passion. Thanks for an awesome adventure shared!!
Good stuff buddy, It is always fun to watch your videos my friend. I am not a fan of sand, goodness, good job staying in there, I went to the river two days ago, was around 100 degrees, and the sand was thick and deep, almost got me several times, no fun. I have the Pants and Jacket from Rocky mountain, Great great especially for the money. Great stuff my friend and thanks for sharing with us all. Thanks for sharing and I hope you have a blessed week.
Awesome Job Tyler, I have definitely, absolutely been in the position you were in... Even needing to abandon my bike, walking to a stranger's house to get a ride to the hospital.... These events like this only deepens my resolve for ADV riding!!!!
Hey Tyler, I literally never comment on UA-cam, but wanted to thank you for the video. No one ever wants to show when they have trouble or come close to failure. I'm so captivated by these ADV video's and yet I've never really been dirt biking lol Your video just felt so real and that's what I want to see. Watching people make these things look easy isn't helpful. I want to see the real dirt and grind so I can somewhat appreciate the work this type of riding involves. Thanks again!
I've had touring, cruiser and sport bikes. Rode dirt bikes back when I was a kid. a 1990 Honda 250 dual sport when I was 11-12, in my adult life I'm ready to get back into the dirt. your videos have influenced it tremendously. I watch your videos very often if not daily. I live in central Virginia right between the ocean and the mountains. thanks for the inspiration and things I can only dream about at the time. Gives me more to look forward to besides the same old daily grind. keep it up
Before, I've only wanted and dreamed of riding thousands and thousands of miles in a motorcycle but only in concrete roads! I've watched adv riding vids before but never found it enticing. But when I watched your vids, you've inspired me to go off the road and embark on a real adventure! You're a freakin inspiration man! That's why I watch your videos :)
You asked in a previous video what makes something an adventure. My reply was that an adventure is when you take yourself a bit beyond your previous comfort zone and come out the other side. IT allows for growth in your riding and in yourself. I have been through days like you had in this ride and experienced ALL the same emotions but I think I am a better rider because of these times. You will be too. And you are right, we don't watch your videos expecting to see some GNCC expert. There are plenty of those out there. We watch to see a regular guy have typical experiences in a beautiful part of the world (you are one lucky SOB BTW being able to live in southern Utah) and knowing how to artfully present it to the rest of us. Oh yeah...and...get a KTM. :)
I've only watched a couple of your videos Tyler, but I'm really struck by your spirit and humility. Great job getting back on the bike. Truly awesome content. Thank you
This video has influenced me to want to be apart of the Adventure motorcycling community. The loyalty trust and willingness to help a fellow motorcyclist without anything to gain personally has always been an aspect in the motorcycle community. Believe that these words/ideals were shown in full strength not only did you document a great ride but you also captured maybe unknowingly the companionship and brotherhood of motorcyclist at their finest. Good job!
Great video. I appreciate the true narration of your struggles. Your sharing of the tough reality of some of these rides will help all of us grow as individuals as well as a riding team. I have ridden all my life, but am new to a dirt bike with Panniers (2015 KLR 650). My first ride in sand my leg was sucked under the pannier and I decided a soft set up was for me. Thankfully guys like you have documented these rides to reinforce some of our choices in gear, bikes, and quest for adventure. Ride on and keep up the good work.
Man, your video was one of the best I watched in the topic of adventure bikers. Your words are so well chosen, so natural, I really could identify myself to what you experienced here. I was also really touched by it and was really not expecting it, almost dropped a tear at some point :)) You're so right, what makes us great is simply what we are, doing what we love. You're really doing a great job here and I guess anybody here can say the same. Wonderful, thank you for sharing this.
Thanks for keeping it so real, you are still a legend mate! I still fall off my motorcycle, usually in front of an audience. It keeps us humble and we learn from our mistakes, this is why we call ourselves adventure riders, you never know what will happen on each ride and it could turn out to be a real serious adventure. All the best from Down under.
NFN Ty, I have been engaged with community for literally two weeks now, and you ARE a legend, at least to me, thoughtful, warm, honest, and humble. BTW, I AM that old man, weekend warrior, desk jockey(teacher acutally) you inspire, and you inspire me. ;) PEACE
youre right, i watch because youre a regularguy i can relate to... with more skill than most, a humble attitude, self motivating drive, capacity for grow, willingness to learn, undying resolve, and common sense. you put out more motivational and inspirational videos than i think you even mean to. also the landscape bro! ive seen enough of those off camber cliffs though... that looked scary.
Tyler, you are amazing dude, love your channel. Everyone who rides in the dirt, fully loaded with gear on a heavy bike struggle sometimes. You make amazing videos, keep doing it.
Great video Tyler, your honest and vulnerability and passion are what keeps me coming back. You're a great rider, and an inspiration both when you're knee deep in sand and discomfort, and then also when you're owning the gnarliest trails and showing us ask how it's done. Know that you're doing a great thing here and that we relish every second of every video!
Excellent video. Don't ever quit doing what you do. It is an encouragement to me to watch a normal guy ride crazy cool stuff and put it up here to watch. I appreciate that you can admit that you are not some pro rider or whatever. It's ok that you're not. Because you give us normal guys the spotlight in a weird sort of way. You give us hope that we don't have to be "pro", whatever that is, and to just have a great time. Thanks again.
Amazing! Bravo! Probably the second best video ever! Why Dual Sport is still my favorite but this is VERY close! Oh boy the struggle! I can feel it. I've lived it. I can't wait to ride again!
Awesome video and explanation how to challenge life and all the curve's and bumps it takes us on! One epic journey and story filled with lessons in acceptance and apreciation. Enjoyed watching +1
This is a great video. Your attitude, humility and your still positive approach gives encouragement to those doing their best and sometimes falling short.
Worth multiple viewings. First viewing I focused on your storytelling and personal reflections. Second time, taking in the cinematography and mood setting soundtrack - (and kudos on your continuously improving production values - they started ahead of most and are on a consistently upward trajectory)

Amen to that
Couldn't have said better.
Most meaningful video I've seen on UA-cam. We watch because you are "Real" . Amen.

It's never right to quit, but sometimes it's time to change the formula. You rock dude.
What're trying to do make me cry or something?! Jeez!
the true essence of what you tube is all about.
Reality in its purest form...
Keep doing what you love and thanks for taking us along.
The adventure doesn't start until everything goes wrong.
And always tell your friends you are riding with if you are hurt. Friends don't leave anyone behind.

Tyler, you do something very different and amazing in this community. Thank you.

I've been riding for 45 years and seen a lot of motorcycle films and I was moved. You are getting very good at this. Thanks so much for what you do.
After several broken bones I am DONE with sand! Misery! Your fortitude is admirable. Fantastic video!
There's nothing I appreciate more than you just being real. That's why I watch. Keep it up!!!

Well done.
Scoota.
Might be your best video yet. Don't be too hard on yourself Tyler, you are the real deal. Keep on
Tyler I appreciate the humility you put into your video and the under dog feel you give.
You are great men , dont give up and do what you love !! Thats my motto , happiness , love to ride , pain wont stop us , take care ✌️✌️✌️
what a great 25 minutes that was!
This is an amazing video sir! one of my favorites so far!
Wow! Incredible journey and absolutely intense. Very well spoken with humility and passion. Im a fan, Utah is my home base.
Great video bro. The struggles are what make us who we are aren't they. Great tunes and scenery as always.
That is about as real as it gets, truly inspirational!
Well done man. I can't think of anyone who does this with more heart.
Touching and inspiring to another KLR owner. Much respect man.
wow this was a great video and you are right. I watch you because your just like me a guy on a bike
Compelling and inspiring human drama. Thanks for making these videos.
Beautiful job, Tyler. You make superb videos and are an excellent writer. Thanks for all your work and pain on this one.
You wanted adventure , you got it ! Great couple of videos and way to be Tyler !
Tyler, proud of you for continuing on, and I know with both legs hurting that mustn't have been easy.
Tyler, you are amazing dude, love your channel. Everyone who rides in the dirt, fully loaded with gear on a heavy bike struggle sometimes. You make amazing videos, keep doing it.
Nice Vid, Awesome observations and refreshingly truthful. Inspirational and more. Thank-you.
Thanks again.
brilliant!!!!! yet again, I got chills with the flashback portion, so worth it to help support these videos, wish I could do more!!
Great video, it's good to remember not all trips are easy. We learn as much or more through the hard trips as we do the easy.
Amazing! Bravo! Probably the second best video ever! Why Dual Sport is still my favorite but this is VERY close! Oh boy the struggle! I can feel it. I've lived it. I can't wait to ride again!
One of the best videos on UA-cam. Bravo!
Awesome video and explanation how to challenge life and all the curve's and bumps it takes us on! One epic journey and story filled with lessons in acceptance and apreciation. Enjoyed watching +1
Man. I love your videos. Honest, well written and well made. This video made me wanna hug you. This is my favorite dual sport video ever.
Amazing adventure. I know this is inspiring to a lot of people to get out and live life. To do more and know they can do more in life.
This is a great video. Your attitude, humility and your still positive approach gives encouragement to those doing their best and sometimes falling short.
I enjoy your honesty and authenticity!
Worth multiple viewings. First viewing I focused on your storytelling and personal reflections. Second time, taking in the cinematography and mood setting soundtrack - (and kudos on your continuously improving production values - they started ahead of most and are on a consistently upward trajectory)
