The theory is that you won't see anything because you're too small or the image will be distorted, but you can actually see a clear image of anything as long as it's not covered. Most theories are based on camera simulations, in reality our eyes don't see things distorted that way.

No, you don't understand. You have your eyes open now and you see in front of you. But what a totally blind person sees is what you now see behind your head... it's hard to understand.
I think most animals even insects can see the moon or even the sun ! This distance aren't scientifique at alll! When did you see a drunk man see further than a cat or a dog ..?😂
Most birds of prey have a central part of their eyes that can focus in on prey and some can see trails of urine, via ultraviolet vision, of small mammals they are hunting in dense vegetation.
You can see anything regardless how far they are if you can detect colours, but there is a limitation of clarity of the image you can perceive when go beyond your eye range
Not sure how you got the data on astigmatism, and why it’s lower than nearsightedness. With an astigmatism you can still have clear vision at long distances, it just causes a faint ‘double’ image. I can see a mirage on a roof hundreds of yards away, and count the tips of pine trees at the horizon, a near sighted person can’t do that.
