@@robertsitch1415 yes, you’re right many oil companies copied the ranch design, However, Shell originated it and only Shell used this roof with the gable within a gable with the extra little roof over the office.
@@pauled8no1 that and there are only so many ways to incorporate a few service bays on a smaller site, hence why they seem to have used highly standard floorplans along with it typically being cheaper to do so.

That old parking lot light also is giving me the feeling it was a dealership or maybe a service station. There’s some older pics of this online when it was uhaul white and orange and it looked nicer.
This one is a treat to me cause my stepdad and mom been doing uhaul since over 18 years ago up until my mom passed away 4 years ago they started around the time I was like 8 now I’ll be 25 Thursday I have never seen the box off the frame of the truck that goes to ether a 26 foot or a 20 foot uhaul truck
In,the Detroit and Southeastern Michigan area U-Haul Storeage and Truck Rental Centers have took over some of the old Kmart Stores besides Kroger and Meijer Stores also took over the old Kmart Stores.
It seems that the florescent lightstands were probably not used much after 1970. They tend to be a little more affected by cold temperature than HID lights, so they likely used florescent lights for parking lots down south. Both types of lights were definitively an improvement over incandescent light bulbs from both an efficiency and longevity perspective, but have generally been outlasted by LED fixtures.
That old light there thoes are actually drive inn lights they had those back in the day at our outdoor movie place around here them things did light up a lot of coverage tho cool to see one still standing..
BTW, the lights are original to the building as are the restrooms on the side and those windows in the back of the garage. These Shell ranch buildings date from around 1965.
That might have been an old Amoco service station or Texaco maybe with those kind of street lights in the way it's set up with the garage doors and the outdoor bathrooms. If you look at the front of the building and the stone work that's usually a sign of an old gas station. It also possibly could have been an old Mobile gas station with Pegasus the horse

it seems like when places move the old locations or old buildings become abandoned. i have seen it many times where a store or business needs either more room or less room and they move somewhere else. i have noticed that all over portland oregon there are stores and businesses that have moved to somewhere else and the old location is abandoned. the lloyd center mall is mostly dead with hardly any stores in it and the old marshals has become a day/summer camp space. many of the stores are closed down and lots either moved to another location somewhere else or went out of business. its also mostly local businesses in the lloyd center. its a huge mall but when the anchor stores left lots of other stores left. the whole 3rd floor that people can go to is a collage but the other floors that are retail and food space are mostly dead. i saw a record store that moved out of the mall and went to the downtown area where they would get more business i think
At least the old Kmart is being used, I'm surprised up here in Beckley, WV that they haven't moved in there yet but it should be taken over by Spirit Halloween soon, I guess. The Long John Silvers up here is getting rebuilt and they've torn down the old building and hopefully the new one will have a drive-thru. But the U-Haul location they have up here is actually a good size so I guess there's no need for it, plus the Party City closed here a few months ago, it still has the Store Closing banners up the last time I looked at it.
My Kmart in Liverpool New York became a U-Haul in fact the entire plaza that the Kmart was in turned into U-Haul. The only thing left is the gym. I think Aspen health club or something that my pastor at my church goes to the Big Lots that I used to work at for very short time after the pandemic, when we were allowed to go back to work on community college, Liverpool campus, and then Raymour and Flanigan but they took over the Kmart and the Price Chopper building. Yes, Price Chopper is still in business, but they abandoned the 57 location in Liverpool and moved up to Route 31 when they started to commercialize Route 31 and put stores in stores and stores and stores up on route 31, making a little mini city. Sad that u-Haul has to take over everything I mean they took everything they took over the Kmart and they took a while they couldn’t take over Yt parking lot because the parking lot is half the churches parking lot half Kmart’s parking lot so they didn’t have any use of the parking lot at all and the church just took it back once Kmart closed and then they took over the Price Chopper parking lot with the Price Chopper store. how much storage units do you need to take over an abandoned grocery store and abandoned Kmart and an abandoned grocery store abandoned parking lot and makes no sense. And they use the garden shop as their parking lot so they park their trucks in next to the garden shop. U-Haul I tell you although there is a U-Haul right literally across the street from my house next to a Pizza Hut and that’s outdoor location so maybe they expanded and took over the Kmart for indoor locations you go to the one next to the Pizza Hut and then you say hey I want a spot in Kmart and then they’ll call the Kmart location and you can get a spot at the Kmart location and then you drive down there and put all your stuff in the Kmart location. I get it people sometimes want indoor store to keep their stuff out of the elements and out of the snow and rain and everything but Kmart with the roof damage as unless U-Haul put a new roof on it. Yeah no I wouldn’t want my valuables inside of a Kmart and then the roof cave in because Kmart didn’t take care of it and the U-Haul took care less about the roof and then your stuff gets destroyed. No thank you I’ll take the outside storage over the inside storage with no roof over its head.

The U-Haul in Carlisle, PA is an abandoned K Mart. Move from the Harrisburg Pike to Walnut Bottom Rd at least 3 yrs ago.

There is a abandoned Uhaul certified dealer here in Paducah Kentucky that closed in mid to late 2022.

Sentra is a great econmical car the new Sentra SR is a sweet ride for low money tough motor in them the lights are cool is right.
