I absolutely adore mk. Definitely one of my favorite main characters out of all the shows I watch. Its so interesting how his characters progressed and regressed at the same time, which just plays into how heart breaking season 5 was for me
Mk has genuinely has become one of my fav protagonist his struggles with coming to terms with who he is and his purpose and making his own decisions are done so well bro I can’t wait for season 6
7:27 Don't think the scroll was simply guilt tripping him.But it was MK's own doubts and fears.Same thing with the episode with the Black Tortoise of the North. I mean,idk about you,but I personally am not quite convinced that his monkey form is a separate entity nor is MK as chaotic as the narrative paints him to be.That's why MK said something about his feelings like anger helping him fight to protect his friends,he's rejecting the notion that he's just a wild animal wreaking havoc (like what Azure said).Yes,by his nature MK would be,undoubtedly,a stone monkey Yaoguai/spirit/monster.But if Wukong who is famous for literally turning the heavens upside down can change,then why can't he? And added with the fact that MK hasn't done anything as bad as Wukong,he just need to reject his destiny as an agent of chaos.That's why I personally think using the old 'dark side' trope isn't quite right.But I can see why MK think about it that way: remember the "Kid took one writing seminar and he starts to talk all about Mcguffins." joke? MK might be a mystical creature hero,but still a kid born in modern day that draws about his fantasy about meeting his version of a superhero,writes amateur stories and probably browses LMK's version of TvTropes. It's no wonder he sees it that way compared to Wukong who has centuries of experience (and I personally think there's a meta writing advice here about actually giving characters dimension & agency than just make them driven by mcguffins or plot,but I'm going too far 😂). My takeaway after S5,is how wrong everything is about MK.LBD,Nüwa,and almost everybody is always about MK's destiny about being the harbinger of chaos and a second Wukong.Yet,from the moment Nine Heads prematurely cracked his egg,it all goes haywyre.Because MK was raised by a down-to-earth guy in a human civilisation and has his own life,he ended up deviating his destiny.And so everything he has done is nothing but good things,an exact opposite to what he think he is (aka what people expect him to be).When he thought he's going to end up just like Wukong's past,he's already doing better (of course we don't know how it's gonna be forward,but my point is how ironic & sad it is that what MK has inside his head is worst than the current reality,just like how Mei said he's stuck in his own head...man at this point I just realise how much the things are framed from MK's POV,the narrative are just MK's thoughts). So in a way,Nine Heads did it.MK is probably the only good part in his -plan- mad rambling about fleeing from the cages. 10:38 Well,the thing about Wukong is that he hides his frustration behind jokes and immaturity.Even if it's not stated in a dialogue like in the book,you can see this from the scene in the scroll where he said "You look...fine..?" when MK is glitching.And I feel like it's also partially to throw people off so they'd think he's alright (since arrogantly prancing around is part of his schtick) when we see that's most probably not the case when we found him sitting alone inside the scroll (like,the only scene in the entire series where his spirit is completely demolished). Anyway,this is way too long already and I'm gonna end it with a stolen quote that I like: Reject heavenly mandate,return to monke

I'm actually writing a script on why people should watch LMK, and why it's so important that it's a kid show, so I'm practically writing an argumentative essay while trying to leave out as many spoilers as possible lmfaoooo. I've been writing it for a couple months due to procrastinating, ADHD, and rewriting lol, which is a bad look since I asked some LMK creators if I could shout them out at the end to give them more attention, which means they've been waiting for months.
