Cat 973C Backfilling Waterline

- FINALLY! Another track loader video because the people requested it. Anyways what we have is Alex in the 73 backfilling a shallow single water ditch. First off pushing the spill pile over the ditch and then leveling it out and cutting the ground around it so the packer will pack the entire ditch evenly instead of just the outsides leaving the center untouched.
great tractor. I am still amazed at how fast that bucket will roll.
Machine looks in very good condition. I just bought a 2001 973c for myself. Powerhouse thats for sure.
I push in on an angle to manage my material, which yes on shallow single ditch water like this is extreme overkill. Most hoe ops won't swing 90 degrees to drop dirt so they leave dirt ahead of where it came from. On larger ditches (triple ditch) you find this a lot. Most guys will push in straight or even backwards with dirt and short themselves at one end and end up chasing crumbs for hours trying to fill a hole. If you put the dirt back where it came from, your dirt is always where you need it
I love track loaders. For whatever reason nobody uses them up here in Michigan.
We actually use both, the 973 will always do first like this over the pipe while the dozer will stay further back and take care of the bulk pushing. Track loaders can pick up and place dirt where needed, you can break up clumpy material more as well as mix wet and dry. You also have maneuverability that dozers don't.
Fantastic workflow!
A long front? At the far end you're seeing a Komatsu PC600 and a PC270 working. Both just standard boom/stick arrangements. Both can be seen in other videos here.
Great sound !
Loader you can pick up and move dirt around to where its needed.
BAZINGA! MY russian mail order bride was on backorder so its going to be a while before i hear that and even then i wont know what shes saying so its all good
hmmm never been in a 73' ran a 63' for a few years doing the same type of work. i am assuming the controls are similar
The guy on the dozers like " damn dude, you trying to take my job and starve my kids"?
I hate those compaction tester guys.
As I'm not the most machinery knowledge inclined... what kind of pro's and con's are there to using a track loader as opposed to a dozer on a job site like this?
Thanks boys
What model dozer is that off to the left? Did Kidco get one of those D-7e's? That would make an interesting video.
Yep it's a 800lb Wacker diesel plate tamper.
How many hours burnout? Whens the vid of the D gonna be up?
i wish i had a longfront
Is that a large "Wacker Plate" you guys are using to get compaction in the lower section?
Have i seen it right, u use Longfronts to dig the ditch? What is that good for?
(sorry for my bad english)
What is it then?
That's a Komatsu D85EX-15
What's the small rod/cylinder on top of the right hyd. cylinder?
@hmbld1 Magnetic kickout for bucket auto level.
that's a Komatsu but not sure of the size tho
do u need a special license to drive these?
notice dozer pushes straight in 1day when you figure it out and actually care about what stuff looks like youll see the lil details like pushing straight in as opposed to angle makes all the diffrence not that youd care as you been running these things for years and still cant grasp how to run the bucket yet back to the skidsteer 4u wach the bucket this time
@PureN3WZ3ALAND only if ur runnin it!
Track loader porn lol.
lol
So does your girlfriend.
chasing dirt you guys must not do the road core we got lotsa dirt left everywhere never chasing id imaqgine no road core as i havnt seen any vids with any1 capable of final grade
been on that thing for years hey still havent got a clue how to actually run that thing hey like really were u track packing try keepn the bucket down run it like skidsteer ... like the boom isnt guna be here forever might actually have to learn how to run that thing soon want some lessons ??
pff i guarantee it won't be level
Why not track that in instead of strattling the cut sometimes I wonder why you harassed Scott so much when y’all aren’t much smarter
When pushing material in with a machine this size you have to straddle the ditch so that you don't egg the pipe. Once dirt has been placed on the pipe you can track pack it in. If you watch at 2:30 this is exactly what I do. I pushed dirt out over the pipe and then grabbed a bucket and used my right track to pack down the fill and then cut it down to be more uniform for the K300. So yeah.... I guess I know what I'm doing.
vantagetes man you’re very sensitive always making fun of that Scott douche but you watched this video again to pinpoint when you tracked it in ok my bad usually get density without a roller you know if you had enough cover you wouldn’t mess with the pipe I’m a pipe layer I lay 6” perforated in the sock been getting 750 feet a day in nice sand digging with a 308 1 foot bucket really getting it done
