@@cbcmusic funny enough, that's not me shouting in the video. I am that kind of fan though, one that would do that I mean. I love PUP but have never seen them live, I'm from México btw, they haven't played here. They "took me there" through youtube, amazing isn't it?
I just had to tell you that Burn the Earth and Leave it Behind was just pressed onto vinyl as a benefit as well as some early Johnny Hobo recordings and you can get them on bandcamp while they last! Just thought I'd let a fellow Pat fan know!
Basically it's about how people have different lives and expereinces that different and sometimes worse than your own. The band members do a good job of explaining it (and the song on the whole) themselves in this video ua-cam.com/video/pI7CG9Hx01w/v-deo.html
Stefan also featured in an installment of the "Suicide Buddies" podcast where he elaborates on this song (it's near the end). Edit 2020/03/16: The podcast is now called "Y'all Ever" and has an intro jingle written by Stef. The episode he was in is from March 7th, 2019.
a nugget so basically this man gets laid off but has a wife and son to support. he struggles with alcoholism and dept and he can’t do it so he kills him self with a gun. the song ends suddenly with the word “end” to show how fast his life was taken (found off of genius)
If you want the literal meaning it is about a man they met on tour who offered to let them crash at his house. When the band got there the place was dirty and riddled with needles and cigarette butts. Stefan said they slept on a grungy mattress in the basement (that's where the line about the mattress in the corner with cigarette butts comes from) and on the way out they saw a picture of a young kid 6-7 on this guy's fridge and the band realizes that it's easy to write these types of people off as fuck ups but they can see from the picture that this guy cares for his son he just can't get his life together. So they wrote a fictional song about how this man might have gotten into this situation and what the end could be.
Possibly their best song of all time. It has major competition, too. Such a great band.
Totally agree.
That’s a bold statement, but I have to say, I stand by it.
Best song off the album
I remember when you could type in dark days and pup wouldnt show up. They have gotten so popular i love it.
the ending lines never fail to give me full body goosebumps
3:24 take me there take me there TAKE ME THEEEEEERE (and yes, they took us there)
Great energy. Are you a long time fan?
