It's interesting how its recognized that one needs psychological assistance in order to properly integrate after being held several months in a foreign prison. But one does not after several years in a domestic prison.
and over here they fight for their life everyday whether it be the CO's or the inmates themselves. we need to do more for our prisoners. we need to try and help them become better people, not just drop them off and leave them there.

I'm sick of hearing about "that marine" or "that patriot" like he's some mind of hero that was captured in the line of duty. He was kicked out of the marines for stealing from them. He has citizenships in three countries at least, he worked as corporate security for weapons company and was going to Russia every six months to "visit friends". Paul Whelen is an American patriot and served honorably as a U. S. Marine. He is held on what are probably bogus charges. Were any of you advocating for these vets before this? Why is it only one or the other w yall? And isn't it just proof of America deserving criticism that we haven't gotten those soldiers back? Hmmmm, didn't realize that. Internet search states he had a, "bad conduct discharge". Less severe than a dishonorable, but still not so stellar.
Could’ve released a prisoner of war, instead released someone who should be held accountable for their actions.
Those Russians drove a very hard bargain with Biden, making a demand (Krasikov for Whelan) that Biden could not meet, and they would not accept alternatives that Biden could meet in exchange for Whelan. I doubt they would have settled for a prisoner of war.
