I’m still salty on how they handled Sprout’s arc in the movie. He deserved a redemption way more than his mom, who was clearly manipulating him and then left him to face the consequences alone. I can only assume it was written this way because he wasn’t meant to be that marketed in the first place - based on his design being a bright red that heavily clashed with the pastel colors and Sprout rarely appearing in the series in general.
I really wanted to like this new generation, but it's so hard to like. I think it would've been more enjoyable had it been a completely separate universe and story from the gen 4 MLP than trying to continue it as a flash forward in time. It just kind of undos the satisfying conclusion gen 4 had. Sometimes, it's better to let a series die with a great note than try to continue it and possibly ruin it. Gen 4, (while they redesigned and used the same names as the previous gens) didn't copy its predecessors. They had new stories, new lore, and new (proportionate might I add) models that aren't too toddler age cartoon, but still gets to the target audience of younger girls. Gen 5 just feels like a downgrade from gen 4, granted it's a pretty huge shoe they have to fit considering how long FIM lasted and how beloved it was, but the fact that it's leeching off of gen 4's lore seems more like a cheat for views and an excuse not to create new lore and worldbuilding.
It's completely possible to competently spin a story of MLP in the future. What I didn't like is that they took nothing that worked and blunted all the characters to be the same overly friendly characters with few if any meaningful character flaws. I hate Pipp. I never seen anyone who is mentally healthy who uses social media that much. She's so attached that and it's sad. Unless her character arc is stopping social media usage I don't care for her. Twilight was downright rude and antisocial at first, and they didn't do anything of this sort to try and spice things up. No fun dynamics. Too many inconsistencies. I wish they would've enhanced the 2D gen 4 style and went with that.
@@ZentaBon Exactly! Yes! There’s just not as much personality to this mane five as there was to the mane six. Guess it really has moved the target audience to young kids who just want to see bright colors and ponies who don’t care about storylines that much
@@queenperrytheplatypus458 Yeah. Well, hopefully their numbers will show their mistake. Bronies and other pony fans brought up and kept the franchise alive for so long. They made art, and since it appealed across age groups and genders it was self sustaining. As people got older they'd draw art, they'd make plushies, they'd buy merch, and probably introduce younger family members to it too. This perfect dynamic is gone. Now when a child grows up they'll forget about it. No more long time fans. Fan art will become less and less. Fan made plushies and costumes will go away because there's nothing to the show to keep people who have these skills to make these things engaged.
@@queenperrytheplatypus458 the old ponies were also very easy to draw, these new ones are not as easy. as a kid it helped me feel so accomplished when I was able to draw in the MLP style. It's a bunch of little things like that, ended up stacking up. Like a perfect storm.
I was a part of the G4 fandom that left around season 5 because of overreactive mob hate and whatnot, but coming back to FIM with an open mind during this next generation felt like coming to peace with a large part of my teen hood. Im excited for whats more to come especially nowadays with way more content. Thanks for the vid!
I can't wait to see more sprout, I was sad he never reappeared in the youtube Tell your Tale series. Despite being the antagonist, I enjoyed his character and want to see more!!
I do wish the show focused more on them trying to rediscover old pony magic while adding their own flair. At least there would be a reason to connect it g4.
I think in the storm of anti-G5 hate, a lot of people have forgotten that when this movie first came out, it was VERY popular and well-received. People on both sides. I've seen a lot of haters saying that G5 was doomed from the start and that the movie was downright awful. Well, no, regardless of your personal feelings, A LOT of people liked it. And I've seen a lot of G5 defenders crying that the more critical fans never gave it a chance, that we were all determined to hate it from the start. Well, no, we watched the movie and we liked it. And then we watched the special and it wasn't nearly as good. Anyway, it was a good movie, but it's been a crazy year for MLP since then. It's starting to look like G5 might be on its last legs. Hopefully it manages to do something interesting with the 8 episodes that are dropping soon.
You're definitely right about the movie being quite popular and well-received back when it initially released, that's why I brought it up here in the video. But I do think that G5 isn't really on its last legs in terms of Hasbro pulling the plug on it or anything. There's already content for the generation that's going to be released for at least another year until 2023 or 2024. But nevertheless thanks for the comment! :D
@@TobbyMLP I say "last legs" because I know Netflix is famous for cancelling shows prematurely. If Season 1 underperforms (like the special did), Netflix will cancel. Does that mean Hasbro will move to another streaming service and continue? Maybe...
So I'm confused, I binge watched MLP lore, isn't twilight being an alicorn supposed to make her immortal or something? How did the different breeds species idk become ungodly racist towards each other? Did twilight get a depresso expresso after she realized that she's going to outlive her friends.
Twilight had to seal ALL of the "pony magic" (Arcana of unicorns, Elemental of pegasus & earthling ponies, Astral of alicorns) inside crystals to protect it from magic stealers [like Grogar, Tirek, Storm King, Cozy Glow & Opaline]. She casted a powerful, permanent "barrier" spell covering a vast region of Equestria to protect the Unity Crystals & the ponies living inside (likely weakening herself, becoming mortal again & losing her everlasting youth, eventually dying like any other pony). Eventually each "tribe" of ponies separared because of petty reasons, keeping one of each crystals as sacred relics in different cities insided the domed region. -> It is implied that history was ERASED (either magically, using something like the Memory Stone artifact from Equestria Girls; or in a more mundane fashion through conspiracy, indoctrination & cultism). Argyle's research of ancient history led him to rediscover lost knowledge, but understanding that it would not be accepted in his generation he choose to kept most if it secret. -> He died SUDDENDLY (likely an accident or a fatal disease, like an aneurism), if not assasinated ("assisted suicide"). He was not able to speak or write even a few words to Sunny (to either guide or warn her). The recorded message Twilight left inside the Earthling Diamond (central Crystal of Unity) was partially corrupted by a lighting strike that cracked it [in the first special "Make Your Mark], leaving it incomplete.

Celestia & Luna likely returned to the Outer Plane of Skyros (their place of origin), before the epilogue of the last episode of FiM [they are absent & Twilight is powerful, likely with their magic inside]. -> The return of the sisters (posibly depowered) to Skyros gave a reason to Opaline to migrate to Equestria [it was now "her turn" to Rule over inferior ponies].
I liked the movie. The movie was good. The animation was great, the cast was great, the story was pretty good..... Anything released after that..... no. They lost the cast (which I understand cuz money) The animation took a hit. The "new" character designs (*cough*, I'm looking at you Opaline) are pretty bad..... The stories..... I don't like them. I just don't. I miss G4 mostly bc I liked the characters, the overall stories made sense and were executed pretty well, and the animation was pretty consistent (mlp:FIM movie didn't, but it stayed 2D at least) idk, just my opinion tho, maybe it will get better as time goes on. 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
See, that was their first mistake, the cast. You wanna know why it was acceptable for the G4 movie characters to have celebrity voices like that? Because they were A: Movie characters with most likely no bearing on the overall show and storyline beyond the movie and it's individual scope. and B: Because of A, they wouldnt need to be recast every single time and tank their profits. When they decided to make the main characters, the ones who were absolutely going to return for the series proper, ALL celebrity voices for the most part? Yeah...kinda shot themselves in the hoof there didnt they?
I saw mlp merch at dillar tree and almst screaming out loud earlier.. than i saw it was the new cgi crappy ponies and i almost cried!!!😢 I wish i could still buy a apple jack or rainbowdash from a store...... Ugh...... Is this crap still selling or getting views? What are the chances we get a fim relaunch or continuation?

I refuse to give the show(s) the time of day because they just seem so babyish, but the movie isn't bad
