    ABOUT SHOW UP FITNESS & CHRIS HITCHKO:
    Chris Hitchko BS Kinesiology, CSCS, Teacher of trainers at Show Up Fitness (10 years total, 7 at National Personal Training Institute and 3-years at Show Up Fitness Personal Training Internship.) Show Up Fitness has private personal training studios in West Hollywood, Santa Monica, and San Diego. California. We’ve helped over 1,000 people pass the NASM-CPT with our study guide. You don’t need to read the textbook or read it from cover to cover. Pass the “best” personal training certification and then spend your time learning anatomy, movement, nutrition, programming and training clients to gain experience. The average certified personal trainer gets hired at Equinox, Lifetime Fitness, 24-hour Fitness, Crunch Fitness and quits within 12-months because they don’t understand the business side of training, programming or how to sell. At Show Up Fitness we teach the key movement patterns: Squat, Hinge, Push, Pull, Jump, and uni-lateral which translates into the main exercises in the gym: Bench Press, Squat, Deadlift, Military Press, Lunge, Hip Thrust, Pull-Up, Push-Up, Turkish Get-up, and dumbbell rows.

    I am a full-time personal trainer in Germany for 7 years now. And you guys, you speak from my heart. Keep it simple, hands-on, work slowly and honestly through the movements.
    Provide feedback, listen to your client, do not overreach with intensity.
    PT Clients are no athletes. They are usually business people, managers, CEOs... folks that can afford such service on a regular basis. They are NOT FIT.

    Cat Cow is not for someone with osteoporosis. I have it in my spine. Working on my back and core strength is more important than doing that.

    • @ShowUpFitness
      @ShowUpFitness  2 роки тому +3

      Sorry it didn't work for you, but we can't label it as a contraindication with someone who has osteoporosis. It can be a great exercise for someone with OP - Movement is medicine & finding what works for you!

    Just a quick question, depending on certain movement deficiencies you find with each movement assessment, such as knee valgus or excessive shoulder shrugging, do you then take that information and use it to find what correctives and accessories to implement in the clients program? for example, if you find that they have knee valgus during the squat assessment, would you typically just go ahead and implement banded abductions etc.... in the future actual workout programs?

    • @ShowUpFitness
      @ShowUpFitness  2 роки тому +3

      For the most part, correctives aren't needed. You can cue a client out of valgus by touching the outside of their knee. If you wanted to through in some "correctives" during the accessory movements that's fine. I wouldn't spend more than a few minutes though, progressively overload via the core patterns

    Good video!
    How would you do this if the potential client had pins or screws in their knees or hips from surgery?

    • @ShowUpFitness

      Modify the patterns of movement to find a regression that fits

    When you see that they are struggling with a pattern, how long do you stay working on that pattern with the client? Until they get it down? What if it requires the whole session for them to master the movement and you weren’t able to get to the rest of the patterns during the assessment? (Speaking in terms of commercial gym training since it’s limited to 1 hour sessions)

    • @ShowUpFitness
      @ShowUpFitness  2 роки тому +5

      Find a regression ie back squats go to goblets with feet elevated
      They came to work, but don't hurt em!
      That's why exercise vocab is important for pro / regressions

    Is the thoracic flexion and bird dog movements to see how tight the core is? when chris is on his back is that also determining if they have a strong core? If they can't do this exercise and it hurts the back what is an alternative exercise to do? This assessment seems to be advance for someone who doesn't workout and may be overweight. Yes or no? The cueing definitely come with experience. Thank God im in your internship. I don't think i ever seen a personal trainer do an assessment. From what i gathered from this video is all of the exercises on the floor was seeing if the client has a strong core The squats is to determine the knees and hips and the hinge determined if the lower back is weak?

    • @ShowUpFitness
      @ShowUpFitness  Рік тому +1

      No this is a very regressed assessment. Appropriate for most clients.
