- This is my SAFE% strat for the M17 Corridor of Death and M17 Exit.
It is not a speedrunning strat, it's a bit slow for that. It is based on the strat in MisterHughes' video, Alien: Isolation™ M17 low risk exit
No matter how tough you think you are, hearing the Xenomorph's footsteps in a dark room, will always scare the shit out of everybody.
Damn true, lol
Agree.
Except Charlie.
Till this day I cannot finish this game. Too stressful
@@smokingcrab2290 heheh
You know you designed a memorable level when I know exactly the place in question by the mere title “corridor of death”
I played this game like 7 years ago and I still remember where the facehugger appears and that jumpscare when he's behind a window and starts running in his fours 😭😭😭 the sound of this f.ker running gives me PTSD
@damianromanov that sprinting jump was terrifying 😳
i just finished my first nightmare run and saw somebody on reddit mention the 'corridor of death'. i was like, "is that the level i think it is?" lo and behold i was right. i died so many fucking times here :''') but i'm just satisfied that i beat nightmare!
@@damianromanov yeah, this! As scary as the alien is.. I'm more disgusted by the facehugger
I think this is actually hardest section of the game, or one of them at the very least.
The first time experiencing this game was insane. Survival horror at its finest
Yep but then after about 5 hours you figure out how the alien works/spawns and its incredibly boring and the alien just becomes an annoying obstacle that you can't kill but have to get around.
@@Gemineiyou definitely played on easy 😂😂
@sXe94core no I play all games on hardest difficulty lol 😂
@@Gemineiwe can tell you played it on easy.
@@dubnubgtd8538 whatever makes ya feel better about yourself :)
This is some of the best use of gadgets and weapons I’ve ever seen used in this game. Incredibly smart.
Thank you for the kind words.
I’m glad I hardly ever used the flamethrower until this. I scorched that alien so hard this mission
I always like to save as much of my flamethrower fuel as possible so I can burn the hell out of the Alien during this part. Makes me feel like a badass running around when the music starts playing lol
@@willkerr665 i spent too much flamethrower i barely have left for this part cant even remembered how mnay time i died.
@@HUX_A_SEVEN_ONE_THREE you need to use the molotov, the alien always spawns in the room so you can have it in your hand aiming it at the ground where it will be
yeah that and the molotov, was a surprise to get the achievement after haha
On my second or third play through i saved flamethrower fuel as long as i could that i got to 100+ flamethrower, pretty impressive to say the least 😌
You are one of the ballsiest players I have ever seen
probably done the sequence over and over to upload here. not that impressive?
No, it was pretty impressive. Practiced or not.
When I first played Alien isolation it was so intense I kept running towards nearest lockers and moving slow at times that xeno is deadly
@@johnmoffat5782 I know what you mean. I spent my ENTIRE first run-through kneeling. I never walked. Never ran. Even in the areas I know now that the Xeno doesn’t patrol. I was terrified. What a great game.
@Kurt Smith same here.
I played with quality headphones with powerful bass and steps alien made was terrifyingly scary 😨.
Done some sections and took month or 2 break cause it was too intense.
I think this game has given me slight PTSD and increased my skill for all stealth games x1000 because I completed the entire thing on nightmare difficulty with no deaths and I don't remember a damn thing apart from THIS corridor. Wasn't as ballsy as this, I just laid Molotov's on the ground and used flares but nowhere near as fast as this.
Got about 20 feet from the last door, heard the Alien charging and spun around with the flamethrower, torched the thing and backed towards the door slowly while the Alien is walking towards me, keeping it's distance but letting me know it's got my number... Had about 20 fuel left...
THE most cinematic gaming experience ever.
Nah i dont think so
@@Trizzy9999 same
I finished it today, also on nightmare, with every item maxed out. I almost never used anything, besides the flamethrower from time to time. I always was able to hide and crouch around but I also died from time to time.
I endlessly enjoyed the whole game, though. It's design, the alien, the graphics, the layout of the maps, everything was like when I watched the original Alien movie first.
They really did an outstanding job.
@Ash F, unrelated but I really got captured by your writing, if it makes sense 😇 the second half made me feel as if this was something I experienced as well. You, sir, should write some more✍️
The music makes it even scarier
One of the only games to get the Xenomorph right - the ultimate nightmare.
Except for it stomping around and using doors like a person.
@@nodak81 Using doors like a person? The doors are sensor based you melt 🤦🏾♂️ if it can't get through a door it uses vents and as for the stomping around, it's an exoskeleton based lifeform who's exoskeleton is near indestructible and has limbs as strong as steel. Did you even play the game or even watch the original movie and how HR Giger wanted the Alien to be? It's supposed to be an indestructible, intimidating and borderline untouchable creature. That was the whole point of the original movie, which this game is a direct sequel to.
@@ashf585 Haha! Yeah, get fucking annihilated Nodak. I was wondering why it was stomping around, too...but without those stomps, it just wouldn't be the same. There's so much tension to be had from those stomp-stomps. To be fair as well, the Alien is by no means lightweight. It is an imposing presence that would likely thud along the ground...even more so as it realizes there's no threat on board...making it more brazen. Or maybe I'm reading into it too much. Either way, very cool.
@@dakotadillon5981 If i remember correctly, Xenomorph is well over 2m tall and weighs like 150 kg or so...hard to imagine it moves like a ninja, unless it moves really slow.
@@Endru85x In the movies, they are shown to be very quiet if they want to. Even in Alien: Isolation, there are parts where the Alien is quiet as the night. It just picks its moments.
That announcement on the speakers of the impending destruction of the ship is so damn good. Chilling. I always wonder how many other survivors were left at this point and where were they, what were they doing to try to survive
Honestly, by this point in the game, it wouldn't surprise me if Amanda was one of the only survivors left...
I am jealous on how fast you got through there. It can take me an hour and many many deaths before I finally escape. Nothing like going through that vent or seeing that elevator and thinking you're home free only to get jump scared and killed.
You have to remember that these guys have played this game and this level multiple times and know the exact placement for where to put their flashbangs and bombs. Not to mention how well he knows the map
It definitely took a lot of deaths and playthroughs to find an optimal way through this LOL
Oh my god, that whole setting the flashbang down to stall it, and keep running until it closes in only to set off the pipe bomb gambit...?
Absolutely NUTS
Yep. That's how you do it. Place your explosive.
I put one just outside the window one of the xenos bursts through, and the residual flame effect was enough to scare it back into a vent.
I NEVER FUCKING KNEW I COULD PLACE THEM, SHIT IT WOULD HAVE BEEN SOO MUCH EASIER
Damn, that was intense... even knowing that I finished the game.
pretty nice use of the noise maker and maintenance jack to control the chase and keep the Alien from flanking you. Effectively, you kept it from using it's superior speed to get ahead of you so that your pipe bomb placements cleared your path.
Two things this suggests about your gameplay on earlier levels: you avoided the androids rather than ambushing them, probably relying on single shotgun hits to slow them down and you tailed the aliens in The Nest. I'd be interested in seeing your other playthroughs.
I would say this was the part I had the most trouble with on my Hard mode run. More than San Cristobal or the Reactor Core/Nest. Probably because your means of evading the Alien are severely limited due to the area’s linear structure.
@RobertEdwinHouse9Plus the fact that you are fu** scared and you have almost nothing left to play against the alien
I knew what corridor this video is about even before I clicked the vid...
Man I played this game all wrong back in the day. I never had all the gadgets ppl had, mostly used radar and flamethrower to get through last half of the game. Cool seeing someone who knows the game so well.
That's gotta be the best pirate i ever seen
i've played just about every scary game i can think of, but this is the only one i quit because it was too stressful.
love that you pre game the entire scenario and its still a nerve racking nightmare. I knew your flash-bang and charge would scare it off long enough for you to get out but those damn heavy fast footsteps just wreak my chill and pucker my ass every time.
this level is like a feverish nightmare that repeats endlessly.
the amount of times i nearly shit myself, perfect world building and great graphics, 10/10 game
Very clean set up. Personally for nightmare mode I just did the walk backwards w/ flamethrower pointing when seen then cycle to molotov/pipe bomb toss to do the task and repeat. I don't know if I was getting lucky but it seemed big beasty would jump into vent after running down the hall and pop out the ceiling vent in the room w/ the save point. I'd just walk out of the room, wait for the enter vent sound then walk my way till I reach the window in the corridor then crouch/walk with caution. However I didn't know the second scripted interaction wasn't a guaranteed detection, that's crazy.
i did it on nightmare i tell ya , this corridor is HELL
This is so impressive well done !!! Anytime I mention this game to people I bring up this specific mission. You dismantled this mission quickly
Am I the only one who thought that was a Queen screeching in the background?
That’s because it is a queen screeching. Although we don’t see it, the devs did confirm that a queen was on the station.
Yes, the dev team has said that a queen is on Sevastopol but they didn’t want to design a new boss fight so they left her out of the gameplay
@@aben8192жаль 😢
@@sygmeisterчертовски жаль
@sygmeister what you're hearing here is not the queen screech. You're referring to a single moment in the Hive when all the aliens start roaring together after you overload one of the reactors. The queen's roar is mixed in with all of those. It's almost certainly the case that the queen on Sevastopol died in the reactor purge with all of the aliens that didn't escape it, which happens before this point.
Still the best horror game to date
True dat.
I uninstalled the game after about an hour, before even encountering the Alien so that my PC didn't get PTSD from harbouring this game. Literally the thing of nightmares.
This section was a pain in the ass on nightmare mode. I never look forward to this part any time I replay this game.
Lolz the aliens glitched at the end for my nightmare run, the end bit where you are going for the EVA suit when the alien steal you away. I followed the alien down the stairs and there was supposed to be two in that room where you have to sneak across and get to the suit, but I’m assuming it glitched as they both didn’t appear. The alien had been relentless up to that point. But I had another unfortunate glitch where one of the vents wouldn’t acknowledge that the door in front of it was open and wouldn’t let me leave it, so I had to find the long way around. It was just after you align the dish to speak with Verlaine.
@@tarantulagirl Yeah, the aliens sometimes bug out for me too. Sometimes I only have to deal with one alien and other times it's both of them. I think it goes based on how quickly you're executing the tasks, which prevents the alien (s) from spawning and catching up to you.
That was incredible! I’m going to steal a few of your tricks next time I get there.
Absolutely. Feel free. Get creative and have fun. Enjoy.
beat the game for the 1st time like a week ago and I remember at the very end of this part (was streaming to my friends) I said it sounds like he's in the vent next to me. turned on my flashlight a second away from death. managed to flamethrower in time while getting an adrenaline boost
Lucky for me the Alien glitched at this part when I did my no death run. I guess he got stuck in the vents or something.
Baldrick , just completed the game last night and this was the highlight of the final run - the Corridor of Doom. The Alien AI of which there are two are on mescalin here - the bashing thru the door block is CRAZY. And they are the most resistant to fire here as well
This part of the game was so tense, the music is amazing though
Amazing job, well done
This was the hardest part of the game for me. At least on my first playthrough. Now, it isn't so bad, but it's still not simple. I end up using a good deal of flamethrower fuel regardless.
Is that the longest straight-away in the game? I've wondered from how far away the Alien can see you..
Depends on procedurally generated conditions: is the player crouched or standing? Are they still or moving? Are they in darkness or broad daylight? Is the alien passively making rounds or does it know your presence?
U even sweat or fart in that corridor, that Alien will be all over ...for you
If you can see it, it can see you. I’ve tested this theory. It took like ten seconds for it just to get to me lol
@@bv657 - Yeah, I've always kinda figured that. It's just that it's 'vision' is a little loosely defined, and is very dependent on which skill level you're playing at. Even on Nightmare I've seen the alien occasionally miss the player!
Regardless of whether or not if it can see you in the moment, it technically always knows where you are. The ai director always gives subtle and not so subtle hints as to where you are. Aside from the scripted events like when you find it walking past you in a hallway or in the nest or after the first encounter where it killed what seemed like 4-5 people. It will ALWAYS know where you are, hence why you can never stay in one place for a long period of time.
Best survival horror game I’ve ever played , and resident evil is my fav series of all time
Watching this reminds me of how This entire level gave me heart palpitations. I played my first time in the dark wearing headphones. So intense.
That shriek at 3:06 is probably my favorite sound in the whole game.
OMG! You know this game like the palm of your hand!!!!
My 2nd fav horror game behind only Silent Hill 2. Unbelievable homage to the first film. And can't wait to see the remake for SH2
One of the most tense sections of this game. All times I play it I feel genuine fear. Masterpiece.
It's so strange to me to see regular walking in M17 after speedrunning for so long
Aye. I use the normal yolo strat in speedruns. This method was meant to be safer and reproducable. That said, that middle bit, when you run back to the generator, is still quite unpredictable. As it turns out, the yolo strat can be more consistent as I'm sure you know.
I never use psycho running. Defeats the purpose of the game and literally leeches all the fun right out of it.
@@the_sixxness Me neither. When I talk about yoloing, I mean in NMG rules. So noisy running only.
Alien: "I'm about to wreck this girl's day"
Ripley: "I'm gonna make you up-vent so hard!"
Alien: "Sure you ar... uh, what?" 😂
God I died in that area so many times I IMMEDIATELY recognized it from the thumbnail even though I've played it only once and it was almost a year ago 💀
Great job. I died here a lot when playing on hard. I primarily only used molotovs and flame thrower so I guess other things can be used as well.
I thought I was doing well playing level 1 for more than 20 minutes without peeing my pants...
No tracker used. You have massive swedes
Tracker in this game is a double edge sword you can track the alien but it also can give your location because of its beep noise.
2:11 Interesting. So the alien is scripted to jump to the vent anyway and doesn’t give a f even if you stand in front of him because the alien quickly needs to “teleport” to generator room
Well no. He upvents as a result of setting off the pipe bomb I planted. If the pipe bomb wasn't there, he wouldn't upvent and you be lunch if you couldn't fend him off.
That was amazing!
Took me a good hour or so trying to get past this section, my absolute relief after finally getting to the vent and leaving this section soon ended with a near heart attack after the damn thing followed me through the vent, my save was all the way before turning the generator on too, lmfao. Such an incredible game.
This is what happens when the XENO puts it on nightmare difficulty
Magnificent.
Thank you. All the best.
This is Batman Arkham level of planning 👍
I also had no idea those things can be used as proximity mines
As always, nicely done
Nice strategy man!
Perfectly played
bro said corridor of death and didn't die not even once. talk about impressive
My god I felt like I couldn’t breathe watching this
This mission is eadily one of the if not the hardest section of the game the moment i was at the door and realized i need to this shit a second time i was nearly willing to give up
I just finished the game for the first time last weekend. Escaping the jettisoned Project KG348 labs and the corridor of death are why I play video games.
It was kinda cute when they started bouncing up and down towards the door at 2:54
That is _crouch hopping_ in which one mashes the crouch button every half second or so. It's faster than crouch walking, but almost as silent.
The Alien drops again fairly quickly and is often somewhere in the corridor in the vicinity of the doorway. I don't want to be heard walking at that point.
ah yeah that dark corridor with the locker in the middle.., with the alien coming from nowhere from any door in any moment, or worse the airducts...
This shit is giving me an adrenaline shot just from watching a video
You are very brave, i just hide until the alien goes away, i'm such a wimp

That is what we call crouch hopping in which we mash the crouch button every half second or so. It's faster than crouch walking, but almost as silent.
@@baldrickstrousers344
Cheating, in other words 🤷🏻♂️
@@sj-30000 No. It's not cheating. It's not deemed to be a glitch in the NMG category. Unlike silent walking or silent running.
@@baldrickstrousers344
It's circumventing the game mechanics... 🤷🏻♂️
Nah. It's more like an upright stealth walk. Nobody stealths crouched down in real life, this is closer to what we did in paintball to be quiet and fast.@@sj-30000
When you use the maintenance Jack to kill the facehuggers, it’s stealthy, and doesn’t draw the Xeno in. Makes it a lot easier to move about on this section.
When you get out of the vent in that area, the game forces the Alien to upvent and stay backstage until you trigger the set piece by using the keycard.
So you can use any weapon you like to kill that particular facehugger and the Alien will not drop. In fact, you can go back through the vent and backtrack through the entire area, running and making as much noise as you like while the Alien is locked in the ceiling.
It should also be noted that maintenance jack is not a stealthy weapon. It will attract the Alien if he is active and hears you using it. You should also know that killing facehuggers with the mainentance jack or firearms at close range causes damage to the player due to acid splash.
All the best playing Alien Isolation. Enjoy.
@@baldrickstrousers344 Wow! You are quite a specialist in this game. :)
Holy shit. No one's ever done that section that BIG before.
i am so proud that I finished this level in hard with being caught for like only one time
Scariest game I’ve ever played. Got half way through it and couldn’t deal with it anymore 😂

Best horror game ever. Scared the shit out of me. The fact you hold your breath and tiptoe says it all. Next aliens game needs VR
NO IT DOES NOT. Jesus. Imagine the anxiety… could be fun tho, won’t lie.
That was inntense!
2 scariest things in this game.
1. This Long as corridor
2. Saving when Alien is nearby.
well done!
5:20 this music still haunts my worst nightmares... even when I'm not playing, I'm sh*ting my pants.
The scariest mission in the entire game... Jesus Christ I almost had a heart attack
A shadow moves in the dark...
This game is a love/hate for me, Aliens have never really scared me but the nightmares at points they've produced since my childhood (I'm 41 and still have them from time to time) have been terrifying, this game is incredibly well made, it's super anxiety creating mainly because you can't kill it!
You've have some seriously good skills and game knowledge to do this, what difficulty is this on? You have balls of steel, this level isn't as bad as San Cristobal for me, that was tough with nothing to repel it really, taking nothing away from you though, your a pro and have bigger balls than 99% of us 😂
Dude….I need to play this game. Holy shit
One of my fav games ever. I want thia made into a series so bad. A good series with hbo level funding.
Love this bit
One of AI's hardest parts and you made it look easy! I NEVER run in that level
I remember this part. This section almost made me give up on the game. Finally, I just lowered the difficulty setting because I didn't care anymore. I loved the game but I feel like it actually starts going into a sharp decline after Ripley vents the first Xenomorph into space.
The Working Joes aren't fun enemies to deal with and the second act of the game is 100% working joes. Then we reach the nest and it kind of reduces the potency of this ultimate killing machine if it can't even kill us in its own nest. And the last third of the game is just abusive.
I... hate that place...
5:19 this vent right here has been a nightmare on Nightmare. Why? Because I've been pulled out of it by Xeno. Twice! xD That was the scariest shit I've ever experienced.
Made it look smooth, but don’t be fooled, it is not that easy lol!
That is true. This isn't an entirely foolproof method. The part where you are forced to go back and use the generator is subject to some randomness. You could get the Alien dropping at a different place. What is shown in the video is the Alien's typical pattern, but he does go off pattern and if you are unprepared, it can potentially catch you out.
All part of the fun. Enjoy.
and he uses exploits, what a legend
Does anybody know the soundtrack to this area? Not the panicky strings music that happens in the late part of it, but the part before that. Something about that drone with the repeating… engine sounds? Is that what they are? (They repeat thrice every now and then rhythmically) It really sticks with me, so cool.
On my 1st playthrough and at this mission now. I never found a pipe bomb blue print. Im low on flame fuel amd only have 2 noise, 3 molotov, a couple flash bangs and flares. Many deaths so far. Grrrr
Bought the game days ago and just finished it today. I had 0 deaths here and only used 2 flares & 1 noisemaker. Medium difficulty only though 😅
Lost my save here, I saved right as it drops out of a vent nearby and immediately spots me. So mad.
THIS IS INSAAANNE
THIS is the best part of the game
Clever!
After seeing your vids i started planting way more traps.... game got so much easier that way lol
Glad to have been of help. All the best.
First place I encountered the Xeno inside of the vents was every single time I got to the end of this stage for like 5 tries. It killed me every single time I had to go through the vent at the end.
That is the reason I throw the EMP at the end before going in the vent. To try to get the Alien to drop in that other room. If he's dropped somewhere and busy examining where the device went off, then he can't drop in the final vent quite so readily.
Throwing a weapon type device like an EMP or a Flashbang is best. They make a bigger noise and Alien learns to ignore dedicated distraction devices such as the noisemaker.
Give it a whirl and see how you get on. Best of luck.
Clever girl!
Even just by watching this video it gives me PTSD lol
