Full props and respect for the firefighters but RUIDOSO FIRE DEPARTMENT has been neglected for years and it showed. Particularly when cellular went. First response I saw was 130.
These fires we keep having are awful. People should be careful to get out of harm's way as soon as possible. 400 feet walls of fire are monstrous. I remember once stopping to see if anyone was injured at a 30 foot high barn in full blaze because I hadn't seen any ambulances on site and it was remote. I still remember the intense heat I felt as I approached where the people were gathered watching the fire. Without firefighting gear, I couldn't get closer to the flames than 300 feet. And that was for only a 30 foot high fire! Be careful people and don't underestimate these fire monstrosities!

For the last few years the village has been jacking property taxes and enforcing a draconian and expensive cleanup regime on property owners, that was what I did that weekend. Now we find out that the village let it's own properties turn into fire hazards, while trying to shift firefighting to the Fed's and State. I want to know what happened to the tax money.
Get a FOIA even though as a citizen and taxpayer you have the right to see expenses etc but of course you will end up having to pay for the info even though you are entitled gotta love government where they rule over us peasants
