I work with children with additional needs, and the amount of people just think I sit and play with children all day and don't "teach" anything is saddening or they will watch a TV show, and suddenly believe they know everything about autism due to this show having one child with autism in it. Trying to break the stereotype and stigma surrounding additional needs is difficult, but please keep speaking out about it!

I think some people hear “delayed” and assume “completely unable”. She has far more intellectual abilities than a lot of people want to acknowledge
As someone who works with special needs kids it hurts my heart when people assume they aren’t smart. They may not all be able to read, write, or speak. But I’ve had students who can draw anything, students who can drive four wheelers and dirt bikes like nobodies business, students who can make you laugh or smile, and students who can manipulate you into giving them exactly what they want lol.There is so much more to any person than being able to read or write.

I’m going to be honest. I am NOT ready for the vlog dropping Isaiah off at college. Not at all. But yes, Isaiah should definitely vlog even if it’s just little updates here and there in your vlogs. He will surely be missed but so excited for him to be on his next adventure! I guess we can share him with other people.

As someone I love once stated long ago to me. Neve assume anything as it makes an a*s of you and me. Mentally challenged people are smarter than most people think. They are bright, loving, empathetic, smart beyond what we know, and precious. Love the insights your family shares. Abbie Is such a blessing and treasure. Until you have lived with, loved, or personally known a special needs person you should sit back, watch, and learn as much as you can before giving an opinion on anything.
The pool is a safe haven for Abbie she’s in her home surroundings & it’s so much fun for her to wind you all up by jumping into the pool.....

I came across your videos on Facebook originally but soon become part of the fam on youtube. I love watching you all, my 10 year old daughter has autism but she is verbal. She struggles with all social situations, has terrible days with anger and can be physically violent towards me and her 2 other sisters on her worst days. Your videos make me smile especially after iv had a bad day. Thankyou

I am so thankful for your videos. I have been going through a thought time mentally the past couple of weeks so these videos definitely helps a lot. For the people that are wondering i am strong and will get through this, but stress and lack of social life lately has gotten to me. Luckily i am going on a little vacation this Monday so i can reset a little

It’s great that you and Isaiah talk about these things because my sister and I talk about it too. My best friend of over 20 years has autism and I always think about these things. I’m glad someone else thinks about these things too!

Great way of spreading awareness in this vlog. Anybody that have watched for any amount of time knows already just how smart Abbie is. She's so aware of what she is doing, you can see that before she does something she's know she isn't suppose to be doing. Autistic doesn't mean unintelligent. I wish EVERYONE would understand that.

My daughter is going to college 4 hours away in less than two weeks too and I have been literally fighting back tears. Your talk about the same thing made v the fighting lose. Now I'm crying. Maybe I’m cheesy but I loved when you gave Isaiah the hat! I literally said “aww that’s sweet” out loud. Lol. Totally agree with what you guys said about autism and the movies. Since finding your channel, I’ve learned so much from you all and have started seeking out more knowledge about autism on my own. I’m a child care worker and I recently had a sweet little guy in my class who has autism. I wanted to know as much as I could so I could give him the best care possible and understand him better. He’s moved up now to the next class and I plan to keep educating myself because you never know if there might be another child that comes into my class that has it.

Oh goodness I love how you guys words things! Not sure if you’ll even see this cause it’s a later video (I’ve never even made a comment on a UA-cam video before) but hearing you talk about intelligence level in individuals with special needs is SO ON POINT. I’m a sped teacher (5 years and counting) and I’m in graduate school for ASD. Literally yesterday, for my grad course, I had to choose a myth about Autism and will be writing a research paper debunking that myth...I choose to debunk the idea that “individuals with Autism all have intellectual deficits and/or disabilities.” Anyway I started watching you guys not too long ago and honestly learn so much from just “observing” your family (which sounds creepy but hey) love you guys and seeing a family that is so supportive of their child!
I love the point that you guys are making here! I’m totally blind, but it has no effect on my intelligence level! As far as social skills and intelligence, I’m not a genius, but I’m not unintelligent either. Another thing I would add, not only don’t assume that people with disabilities are unintelligent, but also don’t assume that just because they have one disability they have others. A lot of people who meet me for the first time talk super loud because they assume I can’t hear them. My eyes don’t work but my ears do!! Really well actually! It also makes me happy to see that a lot of people in Abby‘s life talk to her like she understands exactly what they’re saying, because that’s something that I experience a lot too. Even though fortunately blindness is the only disability that I have, people really like to assume that I can’t understand them.
I've heard other blind individuals mention being talked to really loudly as well.
I heard a deaf person once say that she was asked if she needed the braille menu at a restaurant.

I loved how you two talked about abbie and the boat so kindly, makes me appreciate you even more. You guys will always do what is best for ab and everyone else in the family, you wouldn’t do anything to put her or anyone else in harms way. With having 2 cousins with special needs people always assume they aren’t smart or able to grasp certain concepts. My two cousins are smart and actually know boundaries and what they should and shouldn’t do. Abigail is super smart and such an intelligent person, and just abbie. She’s an amazing girl and I love how she’s got you all wrapped around her finger lol

I am a single mom with cerebral palsy. I get comments and questions; asking about my intelligence and parenting abilities all the time. Thanks for sticking up for us in this Vlog especially.... just because those with special needs do some things differently, does not mean that we are not capable. Or wrong. I was LOVED once, for the HUMAN that I am. My children are growing up to be capable responsible adults. They are doing JUST FINE.... and maybe just maybe, my boys will be better humans: because they have learned to look at the 🌎 with a little more compassion and less judgment.
