The 'official' video of this song was an advertisement for extra gum, a background music to their story of a young couple's courtship. The ad was so popular, it ran for five years, longer than usual, and was requested for radio play, a very unique situation since most radio play is paid for. The ad eventually won several Clio awards for advertising, Wrigley's actually made a video w/ Haley and Casey performing the song. Eventually, Wrigley's took that video down. Instead of reuploading it on her channel (tbh she didn't have the rights) she re-recorded the video you're watching now for her channel. Wrigley's sought out Haley to find the 'perfect' voice for their ad campaign from hearing her sing "Creep" w/ Postmodern Jukebox (Scott wrote about being contacted in his book). nice reaction.. this recent updated version is very nice and elegant but actually not her best version. the original award winning one that she did for the extra gum is extraordinary and that version is her only song that has gone platinum and now has has hit over 300k views on spotify... it is more raw with a warmer tone, heavier breathiness, deeper emotion and better shows her unique ability to do those deeper rolling notes from high to low and back to high so seamlessly..like @3.25. almost like she is singing in cursive. casey abrams plays the piano on both. nobody quite touches the soul like haley reainhart. you can find it here: ua-cam.com/video/_uNpEbt7w_o/v-deo.html
What's up Shakes? Haley just kills with this song! Like many of us, when we hear her sing this, we think of the Extra Gum commercial that this song was used for. She and Casey were contestants on season 10 of American Idol and became close friends ever since. Haley should be a lot bigger than she is now, but hopefully that will change in the near future.
