Had "Very High" Textures set and most other addons (maybe Felis 747) handled that well at full objects (1080 screen). The Q400 took a wrecking ball to the FPS but just turning down the textures to "high" made a very positive difference! Only lacking part is other planes and scenery will look a bit dull. My computer is showing age so this is to be expected. But it's worth it for this sexy beast!!! Best addon I've flown in a long while! (GTX1070, 16gb RAM, i7-something, its an Asus G20CB). Also, having flown in a Dash 8-300 sim, I have to say if you want to experience the Dash in pure perfection this addon takes the cake (had older gauges and felt a wee bit lighter due to older engines/blades).
For me I am running 20-30 fps on the ground at Aerosoft Manchester with True earth, enhanced skyscapes and active sky. I have a Ryzen 9 3900x, 2080 super and 32gb ram. This plane is truly next level for the community and raises the bar for other planes. Truly worth every penny!
Yeah I have the exact same add-on setup but a slightly better graphics card, so it seems that your results are consistent with mine. Besides from that, I'm glad to read you're as excited as I am about the Q400 :). Thanks for sharing! -MM
Purchased this plane the same day it was released, and it is a fantastic aicraft. The sounds is on a totally differtent level compared to other planes in same pricerange. I get between 30-40 fps on a 4K screen with a RTX 3080, i7-9700 and 16gb Ram , with high end settings.
I have never cared for any element of the aircraft past the cockpit door. The two things that matter to me are 1) cockpit, systems and flight model 2) external model accuracy. I’ve seen the IniBuilds 300 cargo compartment exactly twice in the almost year I’ve owned it, it’s nice eye candy but other than when it was new for the sheer novelty I will never look at it again. My gripe with FJS is I will never, ever, ever open a single blind or a single bin - I just don’t care to play passenger simulator 2021. The only routes I’d want the Dash on is Flybe routes where I have Orbx England, so those extra frames are really important. If they created another model that was simply just cockpit and exterior model, with higher frames to download alongside the existing one, the basic one is the one I’d use.
That being said, I don’t own the product (yet). The aircraft looks amazing and there’s exceptional quality here, I haven’t bought it yet but I will once Flybe 2.0 launches and a Virtual Flybe comes to exist.
I feel very much the same way about the cabin. It's very neat, but I'm more of a systems guy myself :), although I do appreciate the effort that went into it. Currently I'm also revisiting a lot of my Orbx airports around the UK with FlyBe routes (although Inverness is still my favorite ;). I've been able to make it work, but yeah it is unfortunate that I need to reduce settings. I think your comment about the creation of two models is actually a really good idea, I'm wondering if they considered it or are maybe looking into it. Although I can also imagine it's not as simple as "copy-pasting" the aircraft and clicking delete a few times on some items. FlyJSim have indicated that they have already put in a huge amount of effort into optimization (when you are in the cockpit with the door closed, your computer actually doesn't render the cabin at all because of the way FJS have programmed it). This is detailed here: flyjsim.notion.site/Performance-610c080599b240a1a3c0fef6807d72c1 . So this unfortunately may indicate that the problem is a little deeper than we hoped for, but we'll see. I still stand by my high hopes that this will get better in time. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! -MM
Thanks for this video. I have been waiting for ages for this plane, as it was announced a long time ago. However, I think I will have to be patient a bit longer. I am trying to closely follow the news about development of this plane, as the present version is simply too much for my computer setup. Still, if they do manage to do something about frame rate, my credit card will get some exercise!
FPS more or less equal to my FF 767 (+ modern glass cockpit) and inibuilds A310. Everything works, not a single CTD. FPS does not say a lot because all hardware is different, the settings of XP, plugins and scenery or other addons. That is why I compare planes on the same computer and the same settings. This is not your plane if you already struggle with FPS flying default or "light" payware planes. Very nice indepth review, btw, there are a few GA planes that have fuses modeled
Hi from Québec, Canada... I've been flying the FlyJSim Q400 since it was released and I haven't flown anything else. I truly love this plane and agree with your review. The only problem I have is with RNAV approaches. VNAV brings me down to the final approach fix but then I always get a "Next VNAV leg invalid" message and the plane will not follow the glide path. If you have a solution to this, I would be very grateful if you shared. You do really great videos and you now have a new subscriber. 🙂
In Canada, most STARs are open stars, you will notice you will have one common fix on STAR and Approach. You have to close the STAR. Find the first common name on the flight plan and select it. Type the fix number of the second fix (which should be below that fix, larger Fix number). You normally will do this when you are cleared for approach.
This is my thrid airlines this year after the A310 and A346. I have been very hyped and have flown the Q4Xp quite a bit now, having flown 34 flights and 50h. Performance is not very good but better than the A346. Once it's settled it's ok in many cases, however CPU intensive tasks will cripple performance. While I agree that sounds and graphic are very good, Ini are the one's that have shown us great graphics, sounds and performance - even better than the Q4XP - and they deserve more recognition for that imo. To me the Q4XP feels rushed. There are still many bugs, frequent CTDs and a lot of functions yet missing and I feel like that needs adressing. Yes, FJS said that they would add these features but neither are these guaranteed, nor can I neglect the missing features in any rating at the moment. Things like the IGS HUD aren't even planned, nor is the acars downlink or random failurs. Considerung the price point and comparison to the A310 and A346, it feels a bit much and I guess waiting another month would not have been an issue and would have allowed for a more seemless introduction. I would also like to adress the FJS has not really provided good documentation which is especially annoying, as the the DH8D is very different from anything you are used to. We rely on Majestic doumentation at the moment. If you have external hardware, button mappings can be annoying and many important one's cannot be yet mapped (hyd and ptu pumps for example). A bit annoying to be honest FJS is dedicated to improving their product, are always happy to help and are eager to fix bugs but nonetheless the release was and still is bumpy, especially considering the flawless release I had with the A346 and 310. All in all I would recommend the Q4XP unless you have obvious performance contraints but I think that at the moment it is a bit too expensive in comparison to other planes and a few things are (still) missing
I have managed to get a smooth 30fps by dialling down textures. I’m using active sky, xvision and enhanced skyscapes. My rig is an i5-6600k with 16gb Ram and a 1660 6gb GTX card. Be interested to know the reviewers specs! Edit: found them! Crikey. 30fps on a 3070? Eek! What are your general settings in xplane?
I'm also using ASXP together with Enhanced Skyscapes! Thanks for sharing your settings. As I was recording this my settings were: textures on high, FXAA, objects on high, HDR, reflection detail minimal, antialiasing 2x. -MM
gosh i wish my pc was better :( Or- its not bad, its in fact extremly good for being a laptop, but flight siming is just not made for laptops unfortenuatly :l hope to upgrade sooner so i can fly this beauty of an aircraft! mabye the frames will get better some day :D
0:56 I am of the opposite opinion. Misleading marketing and poor support for existing products are the complete opposite. Was excited for this review but I have now stopped watching at this point.
Most thoughtful and well-done review I’ve seen on both the Q4XP, or any plane in general. Very high quality like the Dash 8 itself :) Keep it up!
Thank you for your kind words! -MM

The cabin is not rendered when the cockpit door is closed
Dropping the number of objects slider down 1 notch gave me my lost FPS back so no complaints on my end!
Interesting to know! I also had to reduce some settings, which at least made it somewhat manageable. Thanks for sharing! -MM
@@Thresholdx Seems like reducing the objects and/or texture res a notch helps a ton!
Great review!
Thank you! -MM
Thanks for this very useful review. If it´s heavy on performance then I´ll probably go for something else

I'd really like a detailed comparison with Majestic Dash 8 for P3D
I read some reviews it doesn't yaw correctly with power like the real plane. Is that different to the roll behaviour you showed here?
fair review. Thank you very much
Guy legit visited Nessie just to test this plane

The LES Saab 340 already had a flight attendent station.
do the pa anouncements work on the 737s yet
With the update; how is it compared to the Zibo or IXEG now ?
i5-4460 GTX1650Ti, SSD, 16GB ram. After recent update I have solid 35 frames - which is perfect.
The clouds don't look like default, what addon you using?
Hi! Ehanced Skyscapes. -MM
Bought the dash 8 some days ago and it is extremly sensitive to fly, i dont know if it just are my steering or joystick, or just the reallife dash 8
Pls can you add the Q4XP to the store 🙏🙏

Make sure you have a good rig before you purchase. Even if you can run Zibo, Toliss, etc well, this bird will eat your fps. Unflyable for me.
